The only way you could make people somewhat care about a BB event at Evo is to do one of two things: -Make it a invitational teams format (regional 5v5/3v3 would be ideal). Note: get even MORE feedback from the community on this if you actually do plan to take this path. -Get BBCS instead. If you can't/won't do either you should forfeit the spot to a game that is more deserving. I think most people here would support Melty since there's community overlap. IMO, Melty should get the spot as the community is more deserving and supports their game 100%. P.S. - Whatever you do, just don't replace it with GG, that would be like replacing BBCT with CvS2 but without all the support behind it. Keep GG a side tourney (as Hellmonkey said).

Is this just speculation or has Arc actually hinted at an approximate console release date? I would think this would be an important detail in the discussion.

It's speculation, but BBCS being out on console in time for Evo is highly unlikely at this point. I believe MrWizard has said he's talked to Aksys and they've told him BBCS will not be out on console in time for Evo. Of course that's probably just a safe way of saying "probably not"; it's better to say no than to give a false promise or a "maybe". There's always the issue of unforseen delays in production that can happen, so even if BBCS was slated for a mid-June release, a sudden month's delay could screw everything up.

Logically, CS won't be out on time for consoles, especially since Evo is earlier than ever this year.

Best case scenario: (by some miracle) BBCS comes out on console, all is well

Worst case scenario: BBCT stays in Evo line up, takes up slot for an otherwise deserving game, has a poor amount of people enter, has very unhype finals

Since BBCS is 99% likely to not be out on time, the best possible choice would be to remove BBCT from the official line up of games. That's not to say that the BB community doesn't care about the game, because they do. They are hungry for the game, tournaments, and competition, but CT is not very well liked, especially compared to CS. If CT remained at Evo, I'm sure some people would still enter it, but the numbers and amount of care will be low compared to CS's potential.

Give the slot to a community that wants it more for their game... but just don't forget that the BB community does care about BB... just not CT. ;)

This. If you do hold a CT tournament, I'll be there. I'll enter. I'll show my love for the game. We all know CS is infinitely better, but we're not trying to send the message that we don't care about our game. We simply know better than to take up a slot on a game that we won't use to its fullest extent. Give the slot to Melty Blood, or some other game that's community is more deserving at this time.

If ASW/Aksys cannot get you some CS in time, drop it. It hurts me to say this, but we'll manage. We'll be here next year, so don't forget about us. This year, as HUGELY grateful as we are, give the slot to a game that deserves Evo hype.

P.S. We love you guys. Thank you.

The only form of a tournament I would want to see that involves BB:CT is who can destroy every copy of it the fastest. I highly recommend just going with the 1st and 2nd place community choice games.

Proper forewarning, I only play CT casually, so my opinion pretty much amounts to nothing here, but i figured id say my piece at least. I'd say that if the popular opinion here turns out that CT should be removed, the best solutions would be as follows. Best: Arcsys gives you guys CS for evo. not gonna happen, but damn, you guys deserve it. It's sad. ); Second Best: You pick between second place on the poll, or GG. Since its YOUR game that would be getting the axe, you should have the say in what replaces it imo. (assuming that the game you want most is GG.) Worst: CT gets the slot anyway. Which seems pointless since it could just as easily be run as a side tourney for those who still want to play it. While I would prefer that the second place of the pole take the slot, (The thought of CVS2 and Melty both getting slots makes me quiver in excitement), you guys deserve your say on this more then anyone else imo, since its your game that would be getting cut. GL DL, heres hoping things work out in the best way possible for you guys!

if aksys is there, why can't we just hook up 4 BB:CS units to superguns and play it like that?

evo isnt a console exclusive tournament.

Except Evo is a console exclusive tournament. Even if that weren't the case, how is Aksys supposed to get these BBCS units? It's not like they have them just lying around the office.

evo wasn't console exclusive before, they used to be on arcade machines when it was in calpoly. it was simply far more convenient to run on console, there isn't a "no more arcade games ever again" rule. And if aksys will promise to take care of my BBCS machine, i will convince AI to let me take it for evo weekend.

That's one down. 3 more to go.

I agree with Ponder and applaud him and the evo staff for being so seemingly flexible in this situation. Personally i feel Melty should be given BB's spot and whatever game gets 2nd in the poll (assuming melty wins in this situation) should take the players choice spot for evo. I can confidently say that the Melty community is that which will stand behind their game 100% and support EVO by coming out in droves and making its inclusion a memorable event. I couldnt say the same for BBCT nor GG. Regardless i think the EVO staff has taken a great leap forward by leaving a decision up to the fans and getting everyone involved. See you guys this summer (once again). -Chaz

I know Evo wasn't always exclusively console before, but those were the days before we had a reliable 3S port (although there was never a good ST one, unfortunately). Staff has said time and time again "Evo is a console tournament", even when the 3S and ST communities wanted super guns in place of consoles. Consoles are far more convenient in every way.

Even if they allowed it, getting at least four machines to Evo is easier said than done. I have talked to Goryus about it since he owns the machine and the board, but driving 10 hours to Evo with a machine in his car is asking a lot. Bringing the board would be a lot easier, but the issue then is setting it up without any flaws. Mike Z could also bring his board, and so could Fubarduck. Again, the same issue arises, not to mention that if anyone suddenly cannot go to Evo, Evo is screwed and doesn't have a way to run CS.

Of course this is theoretically saying all three would be willing to even do this.

personally, if i can physically be in vegas and any form of BB is on the lineup, i'll play just to support it. but, it seems that BB has some just really bad luck. while CT isn't inherently bad, it isn't CS. if SSFIV was coming out in august instead of april (and for the sake of analogy, had an arcade release), i am fairly certain that srk would be having the same internal debate that we are. it's not that we are not appreciative of the slot, it's just that everyone really wants to show BB at it's best. if it's CT, then we might as well be playing football with a broken leg. as much as i would love to see BB on the main stage, we should probably take a step back for a year, let a game like melty take the spot and hope to every deity ever envisioned that Arc System Works gives the next BB a 18 month+ development cycle so we don't go through this again next year :vbang:

BB:CS is where it's at now, CT at Evo is like having SF3:2I instead of 3S. I support the BB community but I'd rather see another deserving game be added instead of the one we're not serious about anymore.

not a cab (too big), superguns of course. and I dont doubt Aksys could help out in some way.

It seems like we may find out when BBCS may get a console release on the 11th, according to a leaked Famitsu cover.

God damnit now you got my hopes up.

I'm strongly with the majority opinion on this, and I say that as someone who lives in an area with no arcade CS and not many BB players period. As a competitive game, CT is on the level of Tekken 4, and the community largely stopped caring about it after 2 months or so. It still drew good turnouts at majors, but only a small handful were really playing it outside of tournaments. Melty Blood, CvS2, even PS3 Marvel/SC4/3s teams would all be better choices. Every one of those games has more hype and more players who care about them than CT does. End of story.

I'm more interested in Love Plus+. Anyway, I'm pretty much gonna echo what seems to be the majority opinion--that I think some other, "legit" game is more deserving of the slot than the bad-impression CT was. CT's already got bad rep. Putting CT back in is like having a crappy band you boo'd off stage come back and play some more. I mean, wtf mate.

The slot should go to a different game. The ideal way for BB to get exposure, imo, would be if Aksys could possibly have setups (arcade or pre-release copies of the console version) of CS for people to play like how SF4, TvC and CT originally were showcased at Evo, with possibly a side invitational for the game also like how TvC was done. Tekken 6 got screen time in a similar fashion too, I recall.

Honestly, I think we should wait for the release date annoucement if possible. If it's on PS3, I don't think a japanese release in good advance but no American one in sight will be problem, for PS3 is region free and it's a damn fighting game, who cares what language? And with certain events, many people have had a good amount of time to practice... If CS has a bad release date though (say about 3 weeks or less?) Give it to another game. Preferably Guilty of course :keke:

yall should probably stop asking for GG. they didn't even include it in the poll and multiple other games are fighting harder for spots. also, i'll be kinda surprised if CS doesn't drop soon enough. i thought the leak might have pressured them into it, kinda like how rainbow edition made capcom rush out hyper fighting

You guys are whining like little girls so stop it! EVO is working hard to do what they can to make if fair for everyone. You may not have a tournament for CS this year but if people bring set ups they can use their board to play for casuals. Give the staff of EVO some respect.
