As you already know, EVO is schedule to run a BB:CT tournament this year. I know everyone is totally into BB:CS, but we don't believe a console port will be available in time for EVO and cannot possibly run a BB:CS tournament. We knew this decision would be unpopular, but I believe we underestimated the extent. Almost all of the feedback on the shoryuken.com forums has been extremely negative, saying a BB:CT tournament is a waste of time and that we shouldn't even have BB at all if we cannot do BB:CS. I'm here to ask for feedback on that decision. By not having a BB:CT tournament, we could include another game whose community would be much more excited to be featured at EVO that the BB community appears to be about BB:CT based on the SRK postings. Again, we would really like to make BB:CS a main event, but assume that is off the table for the purpose of this discussion. So, do you guys, as a community, want to take BB:CT out of EVO so that another game can be added to the lineup? I'd like to hear your thoughts, please (either for or against replacing BB:CT with another game). This is not an academic exercise: your feedback will actually affect what we choose to do this year. :yaaay: We would like to make a decision on this matter by this Friday (2/5/2010). Thanks.

I love BlazBlue. I'll happily enter either CT or CS (or both)... but I know not everyone feels that way. Right now BBCS is the shiny new toy, so most people are excited about it, but I think after the glow wears off people will remember CT is actually a good game.

I dont think thats a bad idea actually, most people who actually play BB ( around me anyway ) seem to want either BB:CS or nothing at all

BB:CT should definitely be removed from the lineup if BB:CS is not likely to be available. The game is terrible, and most of the community accepts this. Thankfully, BB:CS is a much better game, so there is still some merit in keeping BB in the lineup for the exposure, but I'd much rather see a game like CvS2 be included (which had by far the best finals in 2008) than an entire BB tournament which not even the BB-playing community cares about.

I personally will very likely not attend a CT tournament, I will come to evo regardless and play side GG, and side CS, and maybe TvC(I'd like to play at least one main event). Several scenes were basically completely switched over to CS before the leak, now that the game is leaked scenes that were playing CS are even more entrenched since a lot of people will download it and practice at home, and people who didn't have it now DO have it. Having a CT tournament will probably be severely unhype since many people will be playing on a version they do not like as much, and many people will not be playing at their best. I would personally rather see a really hype melty and MvC2 final than eliminating either and seeing an unmotivated CT final. Thanks for communicating so much with the non srk communities in attempts to make evo the best it can be.

How about whatever game got 2nd for the poll?

That's likely what would happen. The question is actually whether to do so. I think it's taking up a spot and should be removed.

All the top players have moved on to CS and the community as a whole seems to share the "CS or not at all" stance. It's also presenting the burden of practicing both versions for the few that would enter CT. I'm 100% that the CS side-tournament will crush CT in numbers and excitement.

TL;DR: CT is a waste of a slot and should be opened for a game that is wanted. Thanks for posting this up!

Maybe I'll be highly bashed for what I'm going to say, but I think you did the right thing to choose Calamity Trigger over Continuum Shift. Yes, everyone here perfectly knows CS is a better game, with a lot of flawls corrected and better balancing (spite of :RA: being her own tier now). Theorically it'd be better to pick CS. But has the people that has complained about "lolol CT sux we need teh CS" ever considered that CS has a very limited arcade distribution in occidental lands? Why holding a tournament of a game that isn't available for everyone and hasn't developed its competitive potential properly? I guess that, for that people, it'd be interesting to see matches of people which have been buffed compared to their old selfs but the players surely won't have enough experience (AKA matches with other people, training mode doesn't really count for these purposes) or no experience with that version at all, playing with what they previously learned from CT (and the change of Guard Libra for Guard Primer, among other things, represents one big change that totally transforms the way both games are played). CT, even with its problems, is a more known game, it has a BIGGER fanbase and expert players around because of the console version. I say go with experience rather than the "new yet still not as explored" shit. Okay, shoot me :vbang:

GGAC if everyone votes "nuke BBCT" please

I like CT personally, the problem is me and lots of the others have already migrated. How many of the top players( i don't consider myself one of them) are still playing CT? How many of the ones that are playing CS are really gonna be able to go back and be super motivated about CT again? If I thought a good majority of the tournament would be people who are fully motivated for CT and at the best of their game I'd support it in a second, but I know I won't be, and I don't think many others will be either.

edit:

I'd play the hell out of GGAC main tournament, I'd enter twice if they'd let me.

if you cannot reliably get some sort of guarantee of CS from aksys within say, 3 months, dump it.

Although I enjoy CT, I agree with this post completely. If we get rid of Blazblue completely, why don't get Guilty Gear back in for 1 more year? If CT stays in the lineup, I'll still enter. In the meanwhile, let's wait it out a bit.

CS or no BB at all. If BB removed, then put CvS2 in its place and give all of CvS2's votes to MB. K, thanks, awesome talking to you, bye.

... GGAC please :vbang: Since I guess no one will agree with me (can't blame you, really), I think you'd better go with something more solid and (most important) played :s

(Forgot about GG, as I sit here practicing for a local GG tournament.)

I still try and play GG weekly! once evo stats getting closer I'll practice the hell out of it regardless if it's a main game or not.

In a thread like this we all need to point out that Wizard should not just give up on the BB community in general remember. He's given a game that our community plays a slot, and we DO want it, but we want the latest version of the game, otherwise we will gladly give it up to a game that's played more and cared about. I personally would rather see CS, or give the slot to another game. But I also don't want this thread to make him say "Oh fuck it then, they don't care much so I'll stop pushing at ak/arc to allow me to run CS" Remember the SRK community doesn't care much for our games, they want capcom/sf games. The same way Tekken doesn't get its respect on SRK - we wont. We're one of the smaller communities between tekkenzaibatsu shoryuken meltybread VFDC etc, so if CS does come through we need to show support. OTHERWISE we'll get a slot and lose it the next year like GGAC did.

I know the northwest is gearing up to go to evo again for BB, GG, MB and anyhting else we can get our hands on, regardless of the main game stature or not. We'll be there in force to support our games!

Yeah, remove CT altogether. Hopefully if CS comes along you will still add that but it doesn't seem like that's gonna happen. I would say just add w/e game gets 2nd on the poll or better yet put something Nintendoish (or any other major company) in it so you could possibly get a hefty sponsorship from them. -Tha Hindu

That's the attitude which has kept the scene alive as well as it has.

GG will be have a big side-event like always. I plan on winning that btw.

CS or bust, here's why. The top BB competitors in America have all moved on. To have a wide-scale national CT tournament 6 months from now, when even just 1 and a half month or so after CS has been imported all the top players have already completely abandoned CT seems ludicrous. However, I am incredibly grateful for the spot. I intend to attend EVO anyway, I'll show support regardless of lineup, and I plan to be there next year when CS is on the roster too. I'm glad for what EVO is doing, as I love fighting games. Hope everything goes well, and I REALLY hope you guys can get CS going there. It would be amazing.

Get another game in there imo. As long as EVO staff doesn't take this as not caring about BB in general and realizes it is just about CT, then it's all good. If a miracle happens and CS is looking to be console released in time, then great.

Got link? I thought a-cho was already dead :v:

I heavily rely on youtube to see that kind of stuff :RO: And now I see it's not really that useful when looking for GG stuffs.
