Do you hit the 3 buttons based on memorizing the timing (to the point where you can FRC with your eyes closed) or do you look at the animation and time it with at the animation (ex: when sol gunflames, wait for the tiny flames animation to start up, then hit the FRC)? :psyduck:

Practice it till I find the timing, practice the timing till I get it down, practice doing it in real matches where it matters - In that order. They all have the same thing in common :psyduck:

What would that similarity be?

Also, all I do is pause at the frc point, get that image in my head, and practice hitting PKS or KSH for H specials when I see the animation. Note that that method doesn't work for every move through. Like, dizzy's sprite stays exactly the same the entire duration of 236H. I don't believe you can even use the dust it creates to help out. Not sure on that though.

I do believe that there's a setting to make the screen flash blue at FRC points in tutorial mode, at least when you activate the little display that shows button presses and directional inputs. Based on that, practice the timing and learn to rely on it rather than waiting for a visual cue when playing. Relying on vision will mess you up when things like Bacchus Sigh alter the screen slightly. Reflexes are pretty precise things.

So. FRC is special yes but YES YOU CAN! MY methods => In training mode practice only the move with the FRC. After 3 perfect FRC. make a combo with this move. Practice FRC in da combo. 15 minutes every day! And you must be a w(h)inner :p

For me, it's usually muscle memory. I sometimes play as the shadow version of a character so I can at least practice FRC against a moving CPU.

FYI, the white flash is the FRC point. The blue fade is after the FRC point and is just there to help you find the white flash. Real way to practice FRC: eyes closed, sound off, all muscle. Some FRCs, usually ones that occur after active frames, you have to treat as separate FRCs. For example, I treat Venom's StingerAim(frc) as a different FRC from HS>StingerAim(frc), and even different from f.S>StingerAim(frc).

I do all my IMPORTANT (Axl/Jam) FRCs by muscle memory, but if I've played against a character enough, and I'm dicking around with them, I get about a 60-70% success rate just trying a given FRC from a vague memory of where the timing is. I hold that this isn't some unique talent. You can probably learn a lot of FRCs from matchup experience.

The way I do it is with Extra Menu (which I believe you get after reaching a certain point in Survival Mode) in Training Mode. I set Easy FRC to 15, then memorise where to hit the buttons and how to time it. Once I get that down, I reduce it to either 10 or 5 and repeat it. Once I've got that down, I disable it and go by timing alone. Once that's done, I then practice it in matches.

it also depends on the frc some of them you have to do visually based.. like the ones that change timing on hit or whiff (roboky dp, jam and bridget 2d, blah blah blah)

I not disagreeing with the whole muscle memory is the way to go, but I find Pot's FRC's are nice to use visuals with. PB and throw's FRC both take awhile and I just find the animation to clue in where to FRC. There is still definitely a lot of muscle memory needed, but PB takes so damn long, I don't know if I could don't it without at least visual cues. That isn't the norm, at least for me. Most stuff you will just need to have down to muscle memory, just some of Pot's FRCs are really delayed, and I just think it is easier using visual cues for them. But yea, just practice the same FRC over and over for as long as you have time to. Eventually it will become natural to do.

I never knew about it till I read the general guides section and then tried it out for Slayer. At first, I never got it but after about an hour in training mode, I got it down pretty good. Don't really see myself using it as much though.

you're on to something here; i can do most of slayer's and potemkin's frc's and i barely ever play them.

also i use muscle memory but audible cues help too.

4r5, if you close your eyes and turn off the sound, how do you know if you did it correctly...

I usually record myself in training mode tryinng to FRC with my eyes closed then I play the memory to see if I did it too early or too late.

I do some by muscle memory and some visually... hcl and vcl I do by muscle memory p and h note i do visually cause the timing is different for each.. h- stbt i do visually cause it had 2 frc points and each has a different use (throw set up or continue mixup) h dive: muscle memory ... throw frc i do visually...it helps me to time it

I'd agree on this except for FRCs that happen waaaaaaay later after you execute the move, such as Pot buster, faust scalpel super, jam hs puffball (w/o crossup), etc, etc

frcs like those are usually "OH FUCK I'M A GET HIT" :mash buttons: "oh, cool" timing. I dunno how to get them with out someone rushing in at me

or you could just turn the bgm and voices off just to listen the "romantic"

There are visual cues for most of the frc points. With ky's charge stun edge, it's while the projectile is a circle, before it's released as a cone. Sol's is right as he sticks his sword in the ground for gunflame. Zappa's ghost's are slightly after his hand reaches it's apex, when he would bring it down if he were dancing. Zappa's all about dancing. Baiken's is right as her foot hit's the tatami mat in the air. I could go on. The basic idea is that there is a frame during which you frc, and you can recognize that frame, because it normally is slightly unusual.
