Neither of those are good but the best-cheapest Japanese one you could get is probably the Tekken 5 stick.

I'm not sure how it fares with converters though (ps2 -> usb).

Perfectly fine.

Well I want to buy a stick and mod it with a better stick and buttons. What is the cheapest stick I can buy that will still be very good if I mod it?

I'm getting ready to buy an arcade stick but there are some thing I need to know about. for starters, if I get a stick made for a PS2 and I use a converter to use it on an Xbox 360 will I experience any "lag" when I use it for the 360? Also, I want to get my stick from byrdo does anyone know if he they would supply me with a converter? THANKS!

I have an XBox 360 stick...the FS3 that came out just for VF5...this might be a stupid question, but is it even remotely possible to mod this stick? I would like to replace the buttons and change the adapter so it can connect to a PS2...Im not knowledgeable about these things so if this is impossible please let me know, but if it is how much would it cost?

Can anyone tell how the HRAP3 is with Windows XP? I was planning on getting one for use with MAME and the like, but I figured it best to ask before I fork out the dollars.

Okay, I know that this is probably a stupid question, but if I'm ordering a custom stick from someone, do I have to supply him/her with artwork, or will he/she make that for me as well?

Anyone know if Hahano is still making sticks? I contacted him about getting one a little while ago, and he hasn't gotten back to me yet. Doesn't look like his site has been updated in a while, apparently his "most recent stick" is from November of last year...

my tekken 5 stick came today. I must say, it's a pain trying to adapt from playing on pad. I have to relearn all my cancels again, and dashing as a whole is next to impossible. Comboing into Chemical Love is pretty difficult. So far I've been able to CL FRC 66 only one time out of like 50 attempts. Tried messing around a bit with Dizzy too, 421+S is rather difficult to do. The standard J motion I do on pad really doesn't work at all. On the plus side, I-No mixups are now much easier to do. EDIT: Also, how difficult is it to mod the joystick gate? I really hate the square gate and would like to replace it with a round one.

assuming your stick is the HORI T5 (not the T5 HRAP)

If the stick itself is made by HORI, then you need to look for a circular gate for HORI stick (and I have no idea where you can find that). Unless you replace the hori stick by a sanwa or semitsu stick. Different gates for sanwa and semitsu sticks are fairly easily to find on the internet:

I do believe Hahano is still making sticks. At the very least he's still alive because I saw him last weekend. :P

And I wouldn't worry about the transition, bucklemyshoe. It'll take 2-3 months for you to become completely fluid with it. It's a tough transition.

Ok, I got a few questions for you guys.

Basically I'm getting ready to make my own custom stick. I have the design drawn up for the most part, and I just need to start getting to parts so I can see how tangible my idea is.

In terms of preference, in stick, I guess Im cool with the Sanwa after what I read in the first part of the thread, plus I prefer the smaller ball stick, other than that, I don't really care as much about what parts I use, so I want some guidance.

The major games I play and want a stick for are of course Guilty Gear, but also Melty Blood, and Arcana Heart. I my arcade stick to some what simulate a close comparison to whatever parts are used on most Arcade Cabinets for these games. I want to make an arcade stick that has a close feel to whatever those arcade cabinets are like Do any of you guys know what parts those three games usually use? It might help me better decide on what parts I need :/.

Also, any spec information you can give me? Like, whats a good time of wood to work with for the sticks box structure, and how thick should the wood be? Also whats the general size of sticks now of days, I don't know off hand cause theres no one I can borrow it from, but I like the smaller kind, over the Tekken Cinderblocks, I don't need my arcade stick to double as a leathal weapon :v: .

If any of you know anyone thats made a stick before, please give me his or her information so I can get a few tips, so I can avoid as many mistakes as possible :eng101: .

Thanks guys :D

I believe the OEM stick used for the games you listed (GG, MB, AH) is a Sanwa JLF. The buttons used are Sanwa OBSF-30's. You can order all the parts from lizardlick.com or you can order them from akihabarashop.jp

I'm getting air dashes down, and not having much trouble with Chemical Love now, still having a bit of trouble with my cancels though. One of my biggest problems right now is quarter circles forward lol. I know that sounds kind of dumb but I have alot of trouble with it. I need some tips on how to do Ultimate Fortissmo also. (23632147+S) The square gate really screws alot of things up for me.
