ElvenShadow Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Glad to see so much support for this event. I really hope this shit is hype as fuck and GG continues to thrive!
Zinac Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Mike you need to get off of work for this so, you, nerd josh, and me can have the Faust drinking match of the century. Remember last time in Sean's basement, you said I had to drink cause I was a Faust player? Well thanks for making me an alcoholic!
Ghaleon Posted August 13, 2010 Author Posted August 13, 2010 GS Sean for coming through when we and the community need you!
St1ckBuG Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Ghaleon, what are the caps on the venue and tournament?
ElvenShadow Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Zinac, nah man theres no way I can take off in the middle of October plus I cant afford it which is why I didnt even go back to the US at all this summer. I promise ill drink with you guys whenever the next time I see you is, cuz basically im always drinking anyway lol. Ill make sure to knock back a few while the tournament is going on from here in Japan. Its the least I can do ^_-
doragonkoroshi Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Can you send a JP player in your place then to represent your country in GG?
ElvenShadow Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 lol my country is still the US so I dont see the point
Ghaleon Posted August 14, 2010 Author Posted August 14, 2010 Stickbug -- we're going to play it by ear. SSFIV will have a cap of 512, but that's the only emergency cap as far as tournies go.
Vyers Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I've taken work off for the weekend so I'll definitely be there. From New England we've got me and blueNINE comfirmed, Nazgul/Mindgam3/NoiseTank are maybes. I'll try to convince some more NE players to come cause this tourney's gonna be epic! So far I got my MM with Senkei, ft3 $10 vyers and biscuits and alzarath sounds good ft3 for 10 each. So, are you up for doing our MM, at Seasons Beatings? Zinac I'll MM you ft3 $10 if you're up for it Matt Frank I'll MM you again ft3 $10 if you're coming to this. I'm open to money matches from pretty much anybody in GG, but this poor peasant can only afford to bet up to $10 a set.
doragonkoroshi Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I'm open to money matches from pretty much anybody in GG, but this poor peasant can only afford to bet up to $10 a set. Doesn't that depend on how many sets you play? Mike, I was talking about your other country.
Vyers Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 shrugs. I meant set as in one ft3 set of games (If loser wants to run it back that would be a second set.)
doragonkoroshi Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Right, but if you play less sets, you can afford to bet more money per set. For example, if I have 20$, and I'm legit and only bet what I can afford, I can play two sets for 10$ apiece, 4 for 5, or 1 for 20. 20 is more than 10. Thus, if you play less sets, you can afford more money. Obviously the goal is to get as many sets in as possible though.
Vyers Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 True, the more sets you play with more people the better. I try to set a limit on how many money matches I agree to, by how much money I can afford to lose. If for example, I can afford to lose $50; I could do 5 $10 ft3 MMs, and I won't go over my limit if I fuck up and lose all of them. Money I win can be used to run bets back, MM players I meet at the venue, or buy bonus food.
A3Religion Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 True, the more sets you play with more people the better. Vyers Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 You know I'm always up to MM you A3, but I'm afraid this time you'll be contributing to my wallet. $10 FT3 edit:registered
Ghaleon Posted August 19, 2010 Author Posted August 19, 2010 SB:R Registration, plus News Updates, Video, Photos - feat. 10 questions with Daigo Umehara
SH_ Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 vyers: time permitting, I'll MM you FT3 10$ oh, anyone else who wants to, let me know
Vyers Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 vyers: time permitting, I'll MM you FT3 10$ I've never done a mirror money match before... Sure I'll do it, i could use the matchup experience.
Naki Feralkin Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Any idea how quickly this is gonna fill? I have the day off, but I need to confirm carpool with SSF4 players in Canton to confirm I'm going. @stick, I'm pretty sure there is only one airport in Columbus, and its only about 15 minutes from the venue IIRC.
ludwig van Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 I'm gonna try to make this, it'd be my 1st major... I hope you guys enjoy free money
blueNINE Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Too much hype. There's no way I can miss this now. P.S. I asked Daigo's manager if he'll be playing in GG. And what did he say? Mac, after extensive time watching you fighting (3 minutes, anymore and I would have just kept falling asleep), I and with the assistance of my boy Dandystepper, figured you to be a Scotch Tape Slayer. Its okay i'll explain the term coined by Dandystepper, himself: Scotch taping: [ skoch teyp-ing] - verb To use J.2K to keep a Slayer combo together because your such a scrub to learn the more effective combos b/c it prorates the combo like a bitch. Marlinpie's fundamentals far exceeds yours I'm not asking you, I'm telling you. Dandystepper's execution, mindgames, and character specific combos well outplays your abilities to spam J.2K because you don't know no better. Just to let you know I have yet to lose to a Slayer in my whole tournament career. He is one of the only characters I have never lost to in tournament or outside of the two Slayers I play. You will just keep my statistic live and well is all. Just another Slayer to cross off in a tally of smoking pipes that I stamp on my wall. I will give you that your defense is not bad, and you could do all the Slayer combos I can do. If that makes you feel any better. MM me and then I can just give you one of our New York favorites "Sadness Confirm", you don't understand I'll explain: Sadness Confirm: [ sad-nes kuh n-furm] - verb to watch the sad look on the other person's face as you simultaneously combo them into holy hell. Pick as much money as you want but just to give you a quick heads up. People who know the Johnny match up, don't have a chance against me. At least train up to the point where you wouldn't stand a chance, you might actually hit me once a round. My Slayer match up experience is out the stratosphere so basically I will be beating you by muscle memory. If you are as gimmicky as your signature entails, I'll have a little bit more trouble than I thought. Other than that Imma take your money, buy a sandwich, take one bite, and then throw it away. I laughed so hard. A3 is pretty gdlk.
Kyle Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 What's the final word(BB&GG): singles, 2v2 or 3v3? 100% will be there for GG & BB. I want A3. Can't wait to get bodied by Issac's Pot.
