doragonkoroshi Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Good, and good luck finding a hotel/room as well^_^ 7ish would perhaps be a good time for some/many, but what about the players who are playing in other tournaments (ex. SSF4, MvC2, UMK3, etc)? If MvC2 has anywhere near the numbers it had/has at EVO, then some players will need to be running back and forth for possibly 2-3 tournaments (assuming the players will still be in GG singles by the time Marvel, UMK3, and side tournaments start) and that is hellish, IMO... IMHO, other than the fact that some players may be arriving on Friday, it would probably be just as good as Saturday-- or at least when it comes to not overlapping/interfering with other tournaments, but I could be very wrong:O Also, IMO, a 5 on 5 or even possibly a 23 on 23 would be interesting, assuming there would be enough time and/or interest to run it; but it may end up being a bit of a popularity contesthttp://www.dustloop.com/forums/uploads/emoticons/default_frown.gif' alt=':('> Also, I hope this will not interfere with trying to run team tournament(s): http://shoryuken.com/f7/seasons-beatings-redemption-daigo-momochi-choco-gamerbee-oct-15-17-columbus-oh-245802/index41.html#post9584008 BTW, great job trying to get everything organized in advance! As I said, everyone who cares should try to help in some way, if possible<3 ....... As for MM, still uncertain about going and you are such a great player that, I would simply be a waste of your time/no where near a match for you:O However.... If we want to even attempt a 23 on 23, we need prereg list. I vote we start a new thread and find out what kind of character representation we have. Edit: 23 on 23 thread HERE. Ghaleon, you said we can do teams Saturday night, right? If Kenji is there, maybe he can run brackets? I don't know if he'd want the responsibility, but he gets my vote.
DoomieJ Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 I dont even know if Kenji is going, i can ask him though.
Ghaleon Posted October 1, 2010 Author Posted October 1, 2010 I think Sean H WILL be there Saturday evening, so he might be able to do it. Singles is the concern.
doragonkoroshi Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 I think Sean H WILL be there Saturday evening, so he might be able to do it. Singles is the concern. Oh, I see how that looked now that I look again, but I was suggesting Kenji for running singles if he's there. And I was also asking about the probability of being able to run teams on Saturday night.
wuku Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 i will have a chance of making this tournament as i may visit Detroit, MI during that weekend. i'll beat all of you and be the winner if i make it. my testament and hazama are trash tho.
ZONG_one Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 "Hellmonkey doesn't know who I am, so he tried to use Eddie, but I raped that scrub." Stay godlike, wuku.

Much respect to you Wuku, your not beasting on anyone but Hellmonkey this time around. I want a MM, I fought you under less than desirable terms last time and I will run it back. Hope you come man.
Ghaleon Posted October 1, 2010 Author Posted October 1, 2010 Hey guys -- TWO WEEKS!!! Thanks to the guys traveling from clear across the country for putting your faith in SB. We really wanted to give GG a big event so we're hoping it pans out. Please try to get anyone on the fence out here for the hype.

Everyone should come. Hopefully yall get the TO think straightened out, i dont think Kenji is coming out this year.
Ghaleon Posted October 1, 2010 Author Posted October 1, 2010 Yeah I don't think Kenji can make it, which sucks. He's pretty awesome

Dragonslayer9 Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 First of all, are you guys just going to stream SF4 like last time? I hope you guys at least get some umk3 in there.

Sol-Bumguy Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 If we want to even attempt a 23 on 23, we need prereg list. If Kenji is there, maybe he can run brackets? I don't know if he'd want the responsibility, but he gets my vote. Sorry for asking silly questions, but how exactly does the 23 on 23 work, and how will the players be selected (assuming you only want decent or "good" players to represent the character(s) )? For example, what if 3 or more players wish to Rep Testament, but as far as most people know, only 1 of them is good, well-known, etc? Will popularity, tournaments rankings, reputation, ranbat points, gender, etc play any role? Also, is it first come, first serve as far as trying to rep a certain character-- if so, would a player be allowed to rep their sub instead of their main? Again, sorry about the random question...I am certain that many people would love to see it happen, but some may be turned off by the fact that it can be a bit of a popularity contest:O And IMHO, someone probably should have created a thread (with poll) in order to truly determine whether the players prefer 3v3 or 2v2 team tournament-- which is more important than 23v23, IMO (at least most/everyone will get a chance to enter)...
AKA Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 I am going to try to pull some shit together to make this. I was pretty set on not going for this past week (money) but I might be able to do some scrounging and make it out. I know I said I would make it long a million posts ago, but life gets in the way. Only reconsidering because Munkey and Wuku and some others might be coming? I may not know till last minute, but whatever. For old times sake, considering I didn't go to Vegas... I'm mad scrubby now, so go easy on me.
Vyers Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Ghaleon: I dropped you a pm about tournament runners, and the team tourney. Good, and good luck finding a hotel/room as well^_^ 7ish would perhaps be a good time for some/many, but what about the players who are playing in other tournaments (ex. SSF4, MvC2, UMK3, etc)? As I said, everyone who cares should try to help in some way, if possible<3 ....... As for MM, still uncertain about going and you are such a great player that, I would simply be a waste of your time/no where near a match for you:O However.... Friday won't work for me unfortunately, because my flight doesn't get in till 10:30 PM, that's really too late for anything but casuals (I could have skipped my Friday classes, but my later one is pretty harsh on attendance so I opted to take a later flight that would allow me to at least show up for the beginning of that class). Sunday's another possibility, but I'm not sure if anyone was planning to leave early on Sunday. Playing in multiple tournaments at the same to can be stressful, but I can help prevent you from being DQ'd in Guilty at least. GGAC team tourneys are nearly always run 3v3, and I think everyone who's voiced a preference in this thread wanted 3v3, so unless we get some players posting in favor of 2v2 we'll probably just go with 3v3. It's cool if you two don't want to MM. We can still get some casuals in though. Also thanks for the praise. I figured the best way to get things running smoothly is to figure out how and when things will go down beforehand; it's not very often people call me a great player so thanks for that. Vyers MONEY MATCHES: Senkei: FT3 $10 A3Religion FT3 $10 SH: FT3 $10 MacArthurBlunts FT2 $10 Hellmonkey FT3 $10 Zinac ??? Frank The Tank ???
Doren2k Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 *masterbates extra hard from hype in this thread*
Amadeus46Art Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Holy shit how the hell did I not know about this. I'll probably show up, not to participate in a tournament (haha I'm terrible) but definitely to get my scrub ass some real fights against people that know what they're doing.
Ghaleon Posted October 4, 2010 Author Posted October 4, 2010 Vyers, thanks again for the advice. As a reminder, there will be a set area for GG all day Saturday (where Smash was last year, bowling alley), which will switch to BB for Sunday. So whatever you want to do in terms of the GG Team Tourney, you can do after singles, it's up to you all. We REALLY need equipment guys -- mostly systems. If you're able to provide CRTs that's extra great, but mainly systems/games. I hope you'll be able to help us out to make this exxxtra serious. We will be streaming a LOT because of how much hype we're putting on the older games. We will prob leave it up to the GG players whether they want to finish singles Saturday or wait to stream Top 4 on Sunday -- because we don't want to mess up your groove or anything, I know some tourney players just want to finish and not wait to stream. btw -- SIX days to register! No on-the-spot registration because we're making brackets in advance and keeping the tourneys starting on time.
Galt Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 *masterbates extra hard from hype in this thread* Holy shit!
