Zoogstin Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 NC's fighting game scene is pretty big with quality players. But we're spread out. You're on the least active side but Narcowski and few others might be able to help you out.
Mr. Kimura Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Most are in the Raleigh area from what I heard. I'm moving close by there on the week of the 29th if things work out as planned.
InfiniteChaos Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 Checked out the SRK thread and saw that there was a scene in Fayateville and Cary that are both not too far away from where I live. Does anyone know which one has a bigger blazblue scene?

Does anyone know which one has a bigger blazblue scene? Probably Fayeteville, I'm not sure where you got that there was a BB scene in Cary, but I tried to spark things in Cary and wasn't gettin much feedback or even interest. If you go to Jon's gathering in cary which is primarily Marvel, but we get a setup for BB, I'll play with ya.
CeruleanEdge125 Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 Just out of curiosity, where are you in the Raleigh area, RoboCurse? I'm at NC State and I'm looking for players that are a little closer to home. I suppose Cary's not far, but at the same time it seems like Marvel and SF4 are more prevalent at the gatherings and it's slightly discouraging.
Urichinan Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 I'm trying to get a scene started close to where I live, hopefully to cater to Gastonia/Dallas/Lincolnton, I'd like it to be in the middle, so everyone can just meet in a central location. It might take a while to find a good place to get it going, but I definitely want it to happen.
St1ckBuG Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Blake/Frank/Zoog: any of you guys coming to NEC? I need more GG in my life. Zoog: I'm learning Zappa. This character is too broke.
Zoogstin Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 I have yet to attend an NEC and unfortunately this one won't break that streak. So no I won't be going. Zappa is retarded and I'm happy for anyone who sees the light. Good stuff stick.
RoboCurse Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Just out of curiosity, where are you in the Raleigh area, RoboCurse? I suppose Cary's not far, but at the same time it seems like Marvel and SF4 are more prevalent at the gatherings and it's slightly discouraging. I live in a shitty area called Knightdale, only good thing about this is, raleigh is 5 mins away depending on which way I go. I typically go to Jon's (xsamuraix) since that is the most consistent "raleigh" gathering. He lives about 1 min from Gorman St so I consider it raleigh, but it is just barely Cary. If there were more BB players showing up, I would bring my setup and poach a tv somewhere and we could play BB. Although I have heard that State Wolves Den will pick up again after holidays. Hi Zoogstin, I need dat CARL matchup experience.. AND LITCHI.
Zoogstin Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 I'll be in NC this winter break. I definitely plan on taking a trip to Raleigh.
FR05tB1t3 BOB Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 hey guys havent checked back here in awhile..whats been going on?
Zoogstin Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Not much. People playing games and stuff. What have you been playin' lately?
FR05tB1t3 BOB Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Just straight blazblue like always zoog, tryin to get ready for Extend.
TITANIUM BEAST!!! Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 We played BB at Jon's place last night, though it was just me, Frank and Dale. I'm super rusty at that game. But basically, people just need to show up and have a setup for BB. Stick, sorry bro, won't be making it to NEC this year. First year I haven't attended any majors. =(
RoboCurse Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Remember when we had people in this part of the state playing games? I miss that.
Zoogstin Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Ahh good times... I'll be back in NC this weekend. Look out for visits from me in your area.
RoboCurse Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Ahh good times... I'll be back in NC this weekend. Look out for visits from me in your area. Are you serious man? I have to go to Florida on Sunday. There's gonna be a tournament at EZ on saturday but I'm not sure if I can go or not yet since I don't want to come home at like 5 AM after EZ.
Zoogstin Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 No no you're good. I coming home for Winter Break. I don't plan on being in Raleigh/Cary this weekend but I plan to come within the 3 weeks or so that I'm in state (probably multiple times). So we'll definitely be getting some games in. My Carl is worst than it was when I left. Believe it or not, BB about as dead if not more dead in GA than it is in NC.
RoboCurse Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Oh ok, cool. Yeah I'm only gonna be in Florida for 1-2 days. I'm still not sure if I can make EZ, but I'm gonna go with nope. Yeah real life seems to be hittin the eastern NC BB players hard. Just wish we had more of a crew thing going like those guys from Charlotte. Or maybe they're from South Carolina lol. I forget to ask everytime.
Zoogstin Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 We're getting older and things like life happen (although I'm only 23 but I'm in Grad school so whatev). Charlotte is getting more new blood. Our area not so much although the new NC state guys are trying to keep things rolling. A lot of the new guys have a lot of drive to get better but I don't know if the drive is as big as what Garrett and I had when we got to college. The sheer amount of GG videos I use to watch was atrocious.
TITANIUM BEAST!!! Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Priorities change and it's hard to balance things sometimes. When I was younger and much more irresponsible, it was no big deal spending a bunch of time playing games, watching videos for games, and thinking mostly about games. I probably still think about games more than I should, but finding the time to actually play them is another story. Honestly, I'm pretty close to being done with competitive fighters. I really need to ramp up my efforts in school so I can graduate before I turn 40.
Zoogstin Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 I'm with ya on that one. A lot of people have the mindset and mentality to play competitive fighters but few have the lifestyle for it (for others its the lack of getting their priorities straight). I could tell for a while you were potentially starting to move on. Who knows where I'll be once I'm done with Grad school
TITANIUM BEAST!!! Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 It really sucks, cuz pretty much all of my close friends come from the gaming community, but I barely get to see or talk to them anymore. Church folk are very nice, but it takes more than a year to form a close friendship.
Zoogstin Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 I can relate. Was kind of in same boat. But I was able to develop friendships in my church community under different circumstances. In terms of the gaming community here in ATL I've made friends with some great people, but not as well as I did with the NC community as quickly. But I would also say there are a few more jerks here than in NC. Not many though. I don't feel they reflect the whole GA community or anything.
