kenja0 Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Is there a matchup chart for this tier list? I would like to see. Links as well.
Dacidbro Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Yeah, exactly. I knew Dacid would be obnoxious if I tried to argue with him so I let it go. But watching a lot of top Lambda players, they're only getting 4K damage if they force major mistakes. I don't think I said it was her average damage. I said many hits. You are obnoxious if you tried to argue. Stay free. If I did say average, it was on GameFAQs.
Leaf Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 you're still butthurt at AF months later? Let's grow up a little, k? Unless you're just tsundere for him
AKA Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 This list will not stop people from complaining about Ragna and begging for nerfs. Seriously, there are very few people in America who can play at the level that this tier-list represents. It doesn't matter how many people understand it on paper, 90% of them can't block 6B/GH. Hazama is tiziiiight.
St1ckBuG Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Hazama vs. Lambda isn't 6-4, it's closer to 7-3 (if not 6.5-3.5). She can't press D. He has the easiest time getting in out of anyone else in the cast and once he's in he can walk all over you. Lambda can't backdash (with air-dashing backward being a close second). Her mixup is useless against him. No matter what areas you control on the screen he controls it far better than you do. You can't shut him down unless he's in the corner and you're at Kure (TK Cresent) distance... and even then he's dangerous and can get out if you give him even a little breathing room. He has braindead answers to everything she can possible do, from pushing buttons to movement. This is way off topic. This tier list looks good.
bbq sauce Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 I just have to say, smooshman, you are to BB discussion what Blade is to GG discussion.
Dances w Ninjas Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Zidane, any ideas as to why hazama suddenly shot up into top 3 though he wasnt 4th before? What made him suddenly skip haku/carl? o_o Because Japan said so. Everybody was arguing over whether Ragna or Hakumen should be #3 until a new Japanese list was posted.
Henaki Posted September 7, 2010 Author Posted September 7, 2010 basic characters usually start off stronger than they end up over time. ragna was S on early tier lists because no one figured out how to beat his offense for a while, once all of the holes were filled and ragna (an extremely simple character) became figured out, he had nothing new to fill the void of that anti-ragna. the basic characters always fall for this reason. people can learn their potential easily, while other characters are getting figured out. once the simple character has been figured out, almost anything new that gets discovered to beat that can't be beat by counter discovery, because that character has already hit his potential. you will see this in almost every game, unless that basic character is just so fundamentally strong that they shit on everything for free regardless. in anime games this happens less often because theres so much more to discover and explore. no one knew all of this crazy hazama shit in month 3, but i can't think of any new good ragna combos or techniques that aren't really subtle or marginally better than what he had before. hazama is a pretty complex (in play, anyway) character with a lot of options that weren't fully explored.

I get your idea man, but when you say that "basic characters" often become a "minor threat" in serious games, reminds me of a certain "Dragon" .... with a "bayblade" like kick and a costume of "Goku" ... he is the most basic of basics, and still he is the best character in the game ... probably it is because of clon ... i mean, the characters, they have very similar styles, sometimes almost identical ... like dragon, dragon nerfed with blonde hair, dragon like the devil, with a strong attack (but with the defense of a little girl), one-eyed dragon, old dragon, dragon pink .... sorry for my english...
Fireryda Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 just say it out right. ryu from street fighter. and he's strong because he has solid options for every situation. something ragna does not have. sure ragna has a dp and over-heads and stuff but alot of things are easily telegraphed.

Eshi Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Where is Mu on this list? I understand Makoto hasn't been out long enough to judge well yet (I'm guessing, anyway), but what of Mu? Hasn't she been available long enough to collect enough data to make an estimate as to where on the list she belongs?I'm kind of surprised that people don't talk often about Mu because she feels like a very solid character. Her pokes are very good, especially her jC which beats most characters in air-to-air. She definitely has advantage vs. Carl and Makoto (and bottom 3) but I don't know much beyond that. IMHO she's A tier at worst, A+ at best.
FlyingVe Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Mu is a gimmick factory. Once people get used to seeing her tricks, she will get alot less scary. That said, she has some solid pokes, zoning, and momentum, plus she can almost force oki in some setups (sort of). She's probably high B tier, low A at best. Edit: I should give her cross-under some more credit. If the Mu player will actually fake it occasionally, it can be pretty ambiguous. So many players just cross under every time, at which point it isn't mix-up anymore.
Casshern Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 SBO Quals (or just about any tourney with a winner that isn't Bang, Ragna, Hazama, or Litchi) has proved that any character can be a tourney winner. Just depends on how well a person plays a character and how easy you can read your opponent regardless of whether or not a character is "S-Tier/A-Tier" or not. While tier lists are a legit way of looking at who plays which character the most and actually WINS with them, it creates too much argument as far as "WHY ISN'T THIS CHARACTER S-TIER?/WHY IS THIS CHARACTER S-TIER?" This is personally the reason I don't really look at tier lists often. Some people tend to forget that tier lists are based off of how many TOURNAMENTS are won with each character. This probably means that a lot of the list is based off of the fact that everyone's jumping on the bang and hazama bandwagon and winning because they're both solid characters. This is also the reason mu is not on any tier lists. Due to all tourney's being played on arcade cabs, there is no mu to play, same goes for Makoto, Valkenhayn, and Platinum. If the rumors are true though, then the update to the arcade cabinets should be coming by the end of this year, thus adding those four to the playable tourney accepted roster. To me, sure you want to play as a good character, but you also want to play a character you'll enjoy playing as. I play hazama because he's a damn fun character and his dialog is amazing, not because he's high on the tier list. People tend to rely too much on the tier lists as a solid way of thinking, and in the end it only causes more bickering and shameless argument.
Synthesis Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 I agree that Mu is indeed a gimmick factory, but they're still very safe gimmicks. Here's my version of the tier list: S: Litchi, Bang A: Hazama, Haku-men, Ragna A-: Arakune, Carl, Mu, Makoto, Taokaka B: Lambda, Jin, Noel C: Tager, Tsubaki D: Rachel I say A- is kind of fuzzy because they're all very solid in that grouping, but I wouldn't give them a separate tier because they're more of an inbetween for A and B, but not to the point to recieve the B ranking themselves. Hazama is fantastic. Ragna is mediocre, but his damage and meter gain keep him up there. I apologize if this looks bad, but this is just my opinion.
Arcade Fire87 Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 I don't think I said it was her average damage. I said many hits. You are obnoxious if you tried to argue. Stay free. If I did say average, it was on GameFAQs. Here's what you wrote in response to me at Gamefaqs when I mentioned her damage output, "That's funny, because most of Lambda's hits, hit confirmed correctly, are 4k-4.5k. I was just playing Severin, believe me, I know." Don't know about you, but I don't see "many hits" here, bra! And geez, Hazama v Lambda may be 6.5-3.5? Wow. I was thinking more 6-4 and assumed it was me : / It felt harder than just a .5 disadvantage but man...I was thinking, "how the hell is this almost an even matchup? He does everything Lambda does but better, she can't zone him, she can't mix him up close, if he lands just one single hit/chain he gains 40 meter, and because he hit you just once now you have to respect him and zone carefully. Once he gets the heat it's like you basically have to wait until something actually lands to continue. He can't be corner pressured very well thanks to his reversal super. Hazama is damn solid, man, I can see why the Japanese think he's better than Ragna now

Black Onslaught Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 >> 40 meter it's about 32-34 for a j.214B# combo. From what I've seen and heard that at a high enough level Ragna's mixup is pretty bad.
ZONG_one Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Lol SBO quals prove nothing in america, silly. Get at me.
Synthesis Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 dont post, kill yourself, die irl. Instead of diluting this thread with pointless posts, why not post what's wrong with it? This is a tier list discussion thread and I was posting about the tier list. *shrug*
