LeFartknocker Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 lol, I just assumed that the link was going to lead to an article and didn't feel like reading it (whoops?) And I looked up Dec 13th on Wikipedia and the only holidays they listed didn't seem particularly remarkable... Still seems strange Arc would change her birthday for no real apparent reason
Cirno Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Well, perhaps they thought about it later, and figured they didn't want her birthday on the Musical Instruments Day? Let's think of a possible theory. Perhaps, when creating her Drive, they wanted to give all of Platinum's moves a musical theme. Then, when making Foreign Melody, they thought, "..hey. Wasn't there something named this in Onegai My Melody? Maybe we should name the rest of her moves with a sort of magical girl theme.". And then they did. So then, they thought, "..Hm, not much of a point to keep her birthday on Musical Instruments Day, is there?". And so they didn't. See? Simple, plausible, whateverable. My point is, they probably had their reasons, and it's not that big of a deal.
Chaoschao222 Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 But her moves still have all sorts of wonderful sound FX and she is associative with a bell. Still, when someone figures out what Dec. 13th is, I'd be interested in knowing...
LeFartknocker Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 yeah I always figured it was meant to be a nod to the whole "Bell Nox" thing, it's just curious is all...
Absinthe Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Oh My Gosh, Platinum is such a beautiful character and it's all thanks to Shadow. But I really REALLY don't know why they delayed Plat for Spring. WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT!?!?!?!?!? Theory: the development of CSII as a console patch is still ongoing, so they have to wait until Spring to finish it and then release it. Makes perfect sense. Practice: the NESiCA thing is something new and innovative to arcades, releasing patch and cabs all at once is an INSANE MOVE. It would have been a complete waste of money and resources - and remember, Tougeki and other important tournaments are held on cabs, of course Arc thinks about arcades etc before everything else. Feel free to invert points, it's all plausible At least we know when she'll be released and hope there won't be any delay like the one with Valk!
SoWL Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 (edited) Gotta agree that Shadow has just made Platinum much more awesome, maybe even respected. She will certainly rise a tier or two simply because of him. And he actually uses the palette I wanted to use because it's similar to my Faust palette, and our local best Faust player uses my palette, too. I don't want to look like an imitator, but it happens again and again, sigh... I've also noticed that Cure Dot Typhoon gives you one extra charge for your item if your stock's already full. I wonder if Dramatic Sammy has the same effect. About her birthday: it seems obvious that her new birthday may be connected with some popular maho shoujo series. Perhaps she shares it with someone? EDIT: Wait, no, the default number of frying pan charges is 4. Didn't notice that before. Edited December 13, 2010 by SoWL

Honestly, I think the reason they delayed was to force more people to play CS2 at arcades. Thus bringing in more income. Pretty basic business strategy. XD Did anyone hear the music she plays when on the pony? HEAVY METAL LOLI!!
SoWL Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 XD Did anyone hear the music she plays when on the pony? HEAVY METAL LOLI!! Is there any video where it's not skipped? The only vid I remember had some carnival tune when she rides the horse... Or maybe I've heard wrong.

They released Mu-12, Mak and Valk close together but for Plat, she has to be different and be release in spring. We haven't heard any information about BBCSII on consoles yet. So, If Platinum and BBCSII gets released on the same day, then that's fine I guess. But If not, then I'm slightly going to get a bit angry becasue they could of released Platinum earlier IMO. Yeah, I know that releasing the Patch and arcade at the same time would be a waste of money but what about if they released plat and delay the changes patch? EDIT XD Did anyone hear the music she plays when on the pony? HEAVY METAL LOLI!! That music is Epic for a girl who is riding on a pony.

Google translate's anything but reliable, but it says on the Friday announcement '>here something along the lines of "planning an update in Spring", if someone could properly translate that as to whether it sounds like it means the patch, or just Platinum, that'd be nice...
SoWL Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Yeah, I know that releasing the Patch and arcade at the same time would be a waste of money but what about if they released plat and delay the changes patch? Well, as I see it, Plat has been balanced for CSII, so putting her in before the changes would be like putting her in a completely different game.
Absinthe Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Well, as I see it, Plat has been balanced for CSII, so putting her in before the changes would be like putting her in a completely different game. This. That's why patch + loli are going to be in "bundle". But well, who knows what's going on in Mori & Co. heads lol.

This. That's why patch + loli are going to be in "bundle". But well, who knows what's going on in Mori & Co. heads lol. You never know, BBCSII could come out earlier than Platinum. But here's for another 'theory'. She was going to come out in November. The delay with Valk on 360 pushed her back, and since Microsoft didn't finish the issue till BBCSII was in development, they added the new features of it to Platinum, making it impossible for her to be released pre-BBCSII. Everyone shared a sad face.

Yeah, I saw that a few day ago. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think they were just talking about platinum release but didn't say anything about BBCS2. Well, as I see it, Plat has been balanced for CSII, so putting her in before the changes would be like putting her in a completely different game. True but I wouldn't say Plat has been balanced for CS2 seeing how no one has really tested her out properly. I think they should have done what they did for Mak and valk with Plat IMO. Konton Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 I think mediocre midscreen damage, easily forcing opponents into the corner, and good corner damage is kind of a CSII staple at the moment.
dummyacct7 Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 (edited) Absolutely loving that mobility. Her backdash looks like it covers come good distance in a hurry, and random mami circular gets you in outta nowhere. Her bombs and missiles look as good as bang's nails for blockstun to get you in, and on hit she can confirm into combos. That 5B looks like it'll be a serious problem for characters with limited range; it looks absurdly long, not to mention it looks like she can confirm it into combos from pretty much max range. I think mediocre midscreen damage, easily forcing opponents into the corner, and good corner damage is kind of a CSII staple at the moment. Except for Noel, who continues to get 4k mid-screen, albeit somewhat unsafely. Edited December 13, 2010 by dummyacct7
Konton Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Except for Noel, who continues to get 4k mid-screen, albeit somewhat unsafely. As a Noel main, I had to suppress a 'squeeee.' Anyway, the thing about Noel isn't really a problem with her above average damage output. It's that she can ACTUALLY pressure you to guess now with 6a hitting crouchers and the additional 5c -> 6b/2c -> 5c (jc) gattlings. We're getting off topic though.
Danzai Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 (edited) Makoto can also get 4k mid-screen, but notice that Makoto has small range and Noel uses risky moves to get that 4k. Characters with good/decent reach like Hakumen, Jin, Lambda, Ragna, and now Platinum get pretty mild damage mid-screen. Edited December 13, 2010 by Danzai Spelling
Rhapsody Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 As for another reason why BBCSII could be taking so long for consoles is that maybe they're adding more stuff that they haven't already. They need to probably add different missions in challenge mode for CSII and possibly some other stuff too. But BBCSII for arcades as a timed exclusive still makes the most sense. Anyway, I can't wait to see Platinum as time goes on and people discover better BnBs and strategies for her.
Starlight777 Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 (edited) Yeah I'm going with the timed exclusivity period I wish they did this for Makoto or Valkenhayn instead I been waiting for a character like Plat but she gets the exclusive period date. I say we hibernate it is winter you know. Edited December 13, 2010 by Starlight777
Cirno Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 I was first to start the 'hibernate' bandwagon, get at me. PS: New video. Platinum vs Bang. I'm seeing some potential for 2C loops.
Urichinan Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 I see 2C > Sally (xN)! XD Mami combos look so freakin' beautiful.
Danzai Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Already posted Plat vs. Bang in the video thread. Also, it's not the first time that the arcade release is going to be exclusive for a while before the console version gets released, even if CSII is just Platinum and a patch. I'm with Cirno's theory of Plat being unable to be released until CSII hits here due to her already being made for the patched game. After all, no actual gameplay of her was available until the loketests.
