mAc Chaos Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 @Blade: Well, I meant for helping us with matchup stuff. There's no reason it has to be just us. Although might as well start with us since we don't know what everyone else is doing. There's also lots of Haku posters on this forum who contribute, but I don't know what their matchup knowledge is.
SansProtocol Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 In addition to my edit to my last post, I think someone has to put the first foot forward. To show how contributions should and can be added to the match-up threads.
SansProtocol Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 The new and improved versions of them are so good, it hurts. Raw Shippu is insane when used to counter slow start-ups and short-reaching moves. Kishuu is great for advancing and totally disrespecting things like Litchi's DP clean. Lastly, Shippu > Renka (1) > Kishuu > 6C > 6A > Corner Loop is great for punishing blocked DP attempt out of the corner and does insane damage. The easy non-superjump version does 7k.
mAc Chaos Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 dat 10 frame startup You should forward stuff like that to me for the combo thread.
SansProtocol Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 I test stuff very thoroughly before I post. Also, I've been busy with doing tournament stuff. When I'm not being exposed on a top4 stream when drunk, I actually did some hype stuff off the camera to win a few mirrors and beat the best Arakune in the state. Seriously though, what other stuff should I post about? I didn't know Shippu hadn't been explored that much. It beats out random things like Relius' Val Lyra (214B, where he summons Ignis behind you) and sometimes the second hit of Straight-Through when you block the first hit far enough away.
mAc Chaos Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 (edited) Well, I would have explored Shippu but the only time I've been on Extend basically is to troll Skeletal Minion in mirrors. :3 I'll have to set some time aside to explore the game a little so I can at least flesh out the combo thread or work with what people give me. I'll also comb through the various videos and see what good combos there are. Just listing peculiar or good things for moves in general is a good idea though. The one thing I need to grasp is how different moves work with each other in corner combos, so I can learn how to exchange them around for different situations, but that usually comes with lots of playing. (For instance, when you should use 6A in the combo and when to use something else instead.) Edited March 2, 2012 by mAc Chaos
SansProtocol Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 I figure that if I don't have enough time to hop 2C, I use 6A instead.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 I blow people up I've never seen you post up your matches before. Sophisticat Posted March 2, 2012 Author Posted March 2, 2012 Spark's got it handled, I think. We're all pretty rational and organized people anyway, there isn't much need for a lot of moderation. He surfs the boards frequently enough. And modship shouldn't be a reward. If people are only pandering for the position, it's not the ones that will last or be quite good in the long run. I'm just happy there are players to teach and room to always improve. EDIT: I appreciate the nod, though. Thanks! This guy wants it. Just give it to 'im. ----- Anyway, yeah, don't count on me for matchups, lol. I have yet to purchase the game and haven't touched my Ps3 since early January. But I don't think matchups changed all that much fundamentally, so it should be easy enough to catch up on them. I'm sure there are still enormous similarities between versions, the biggest one here being that the explanation should be shorter now as we're S-Tier. If it saves me typing time, I'm all for it. For now, I'll just say "mash j.B, j.B to j.A to the corner, and efficiently dispense 3 stars for 5k". Let he who hath sinned cast the first 6a. God Bless.
SansProtocol Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 I don't expect a total facelift considering a majority of matchups, but there are some different things that need to be noted. We'll build up on the future matchup threads when more people start playing again if they waited for the American release. It's all good.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 I'm currently extracting all the matches of walljumpman and spark, am I going against any copyrights if I post their matches on my channel?
zeth07 Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 I'm currently extracting all the matches of walljumpman and spark, am I going against any copyrights if I post their matches on my channel? Considering how many Japanese matches get taken off Nico and put on Youtube, I don't think people have much of a place to complain to you at least. As long as you're not making money off it.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Alright thanks, I'm going to need help with some of the player's names though.
Bibiquadium Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 I've been wondering for quite a while since, every Hakumen players in our scene keeps dodging and I was wondering if being stuck in the Boundaries was related to that?
BladeOfJustice7 Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Pretty much. I need an observer so that I can make it to thursday and sunday. And John, you mind helping me record some of my netplay matches on your recording equipment thursday/sunday?
Bibiquadium Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 uh sure if we have a laptop that can handle my recording setup in our disposition, I'd be glad to
BladeOfJustice7 Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 (edited) My idea was recording it on Brice's laptop and put it on mine or I download them when I get home and reupload them on my channel. I can transfer my matches in extend via cloud storage and foonzo has an xbox there. Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRBDpObV6fI Unless you think my laptop can handle recording matches and not streamed matches. Here is a sloppy "playlist" of the BlueRevo matches: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQOMo7MDFtQ&list=UUC2sA9s-kXWPfVHCjtootZg&index=13&feature=plpp_video I rather not post them in the video thread until I get names for the other players. So I could use some help. EDIT: I still have matches from king of the hill to upload with walljumpman. Edited March 3, 2012 by BladeOfJustice7
mAc Chaos Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Haku's always had a problem punishing bursts. Especially without stars. If it's in the air it's easy, but suppose you're doing... 5C > Renka (1)> Kishuu, and then before the 2C they burst. If you block it, I'm pretty sure they will not be in the air, so what can you do to punish it? Is there enough time for a 2A or something? Otherwise they can just recover and block. And the 2A won't be any good without some stars. If there was some better default punish it would be better. I suppose 2D is always an option. But it's kind of a poverty one.
SansProtocol Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 If you have absolutely no meter when you block a grounded Green Burst, I would just be happy with putting them back into a blockstring like 2B > 2A > (5A) > 5B. Keeps them locked down, you gain meter while they're blocking/getting hit, and they're still in the predicament they just tried to burst out of. You may not do any damage, but you make them burn resources and potentially put them in a bigger bind later on.
mAc Chaos Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Yeah. So looks like we're still same old Haku on that front then.
SansProtocol Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Glad that's still true or Hakumen would lose everything that makes him who he is.
