Chun Posted November 25, 2010 Author Posted November 25, 2010 (edited) I'm hoping you didn't commit us Crosell, I only wanted information first, hahaha. A website from SCRATCH? Yeah.. you need at LEAST basic HTML experience, and more. I think dreamweaver is the website building program. I'M A COMPUTER SCIENCE MAJOR WITH EXPERIENCE IN HTML GET AT ME CS does not stand for CONTINUUM SHIFT This sounds freakin awesomeeeeee they have everything! Tables, decent room, internet, decent price for venue, even their own TV's? Smack dab in the middle of the Bay Area? Not bad! :3 Now we gotta ask WHATS WRONG WITH THEIR FREAKIN PHONE lol. I'll run the questions I have by them and go from there. Rin, you act like the CS Club was the most horrible place you ever went, seriously, lol. Edited November 25, 2010 by Chun
koogy Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 I'm interested in coming down for December's first event. :3
natearistata Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Sweet another new place for me to get lost while trying to find.
RinHara5aki Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 . PThey are new owners. Old owner dcd phone and won't give pw to the myspace page OH YES parking is easy. Lots of grocery stores around for parking and a decent lot by the place should be able to fit us with a bit of flexiblity. Owners are very nice and seemed a bit excited themselves haha. And its just one tv, but that's fine for main event stuff If the owners themselves are hype, its twice as easy to get stuff going. Its always harder to ask favors of someone who is salty about your ideas, rather than someone who supports and promotes them. I'm hoping you didn't commit us Crosell, I only wanted information first, hahaha. Rin, you act like the CS Club was the most horrible place you ever went, seriously, lol. I'm not saying CS club is the most horrible place when did I say that :< I'm just saying I think its fair to switch locations and make it more fair for people travel wise. CS Club room in itself is fine, but for Sac/Davis/North Bay people to trek a billion miles to get to NCI I think its only fair to switch it up at least ONCE and TRY a new location.
Crosell Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 (edited) No I didn't commit, I just said we would be wanting to do it around the 4th and that you would contact him for more information. It was a purely planning stuff, nothing has been committed. I tried to emphasize that I was just scouting and gathering information. But you could tell that they wanted to be accommodating and not waste our time or their time. I told them you would contact them asking for information and that all this needed to be run by the community first; this was just a possible venue. If they took it another way I am sorry. I also directed him to the norcal install thread on dustloop so they can check out. They wanted to make the place seem good for us as I am sure it would be good revenue. I sent you the email address, and # of the owner. So I would suggest writing an e-mail or calling (not sure why you haven't unless the pm didn't get to you, this commitment issue should have been taken care of already) ok reading my old posts yeah it came off like I committed. But it wasn't I was on my phone using a text pad to write it while driving to a restaurant to meet up with some friends. . Nothing has been committed too Edited November 25, 2010 by Crosell
TaoFTW Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 http://www.ncinstall.webs.com/ if i can do html, then anyone can. also
Chun Posted November 25, 2010 Author Posted November 25, 2010 http://www.ncinstall.webs.com/ if i can do html, then anyone can. also I meant a site that doesn't look like a blogring template banner top with a stock background. Something that actually uses javascript, PHP, and maybe inclusion of flash. And yes, this isn't the first NCI, this is the 500th time you've mentioned this, lol.
Dacidbro Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 John, do you want to help with this or have you moved on? I am genuinely confused, because I was relatively certain you said yourself you were completely moving on. If you want to help us, that's great, and I appreciate it, but I do think it would be beneficial for anyone who may have the wrong idea if you would clearly state one way or the other.
Skubator Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 (edited) I wouldn't object to paying a small venue fee if we host it at someone's house. It's a lot to ask of someone to host 50+ random people who may or may not be strangers, and NOT expect some meager form of compensation. Also Shadowbrooke doesn't sound bad. It's a little closer than SJSU for Sac people, I think. Though, we still have the issue of the fact that the 4th is the weekend before finals for a lot of people (myself included). This might be another small NCI. Edited November 25, 2010 by Skubator
Chun Posted November 25, 2010 Author Posted November 25, 2010 Here's a small thought before I report tomorrow or Friday. December 4th is a time when the campus is open. It is also the last month in which CS club is active before Winter sets in, and the campus is empty for a month or so. It'd be a lot harder to get the CS Club during the month of January until it starts up again in February. I'm thinking we do SJSU this time since the time schedules conflict with everyone and there probably won't be a large turnout at this point so late in the information department. I'd feel bad if Koogy came up December and there were only about the November crew present. Shadowbrookes may be the venue then in January, we'll see how it plays out December and hopefully many will be free, and a lot more people can pay attention to it/make it off school schedule. There will be a lot more advertising time too, and we can hope for a huge turnout. What do you all think? ~Chun
Dacidbro Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Certainly works for me. Thanks for your efforts in figuring this out, regardless of where we end up.
blk_mage Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 (edited) I wouldn't mind Shadowbrooke, esspecially since it's so close to where I live :P Edit: Almost forgot, I went by that comunity center and it was closed for the weekend and isn't even open to the public yet. But talking to my friends mom, who know a lot about this stuff, esspecially around here, she said it would probably cost way too much. I might try going and talking to them once they're open about a possible future event, but it doesn't seem like it would be available any time soon. Edited November 25, 2010 by blk_mage
Crosell Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Wait, wtf we go through all this drama of sjsu not beong there just to have sjsu be availible?
RinHara5aki Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 *sigh... Can someone house me for 1-2 nights since it's in San Jo again =w=... Possibly I won't come if it rains. Hopefully it won't.
Mystic d Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 sounds good to me. if its set, can we update the first page? also, i can bring a monitor if necessary
Dacidbro Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 I'd say if you can, it would probably be useful.
Chun Posted November 26, 2010 Author Posted November 26, 2010 Operate under the assumption that it will happen December 4th. All officers except for the President have cleared it and I think he'll say yes.
