ReverseParadox Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 Well I come from a fighting game background but I've never thought of myself as proficient really. When I started BB I my main was Tao and I used her from CT to CS but she's changed every time T_T she is no longer the Tao I knew. I now main Relius and it took me about 2 months to get decent with him. I'm nowhere near Tourny level but I'm still working on it.
BlackYakuzu94 Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 Well it took me a while to get the basics, and then I had to learn shit with a stick which was ass at first, but I've gotten used to it, and it didn't take me that long, eight months since Extend.
musicedge Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 It has taken me almost two years. My main was noel in CT but then I moved onto tager in CS. Never looked back.
ElegantShadow Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Well if I can remember it took me about 3 to 6 months to become proficient with my main [Lambda] I'm actually not sure if that's considered a long time or not, although Blazblue was my first 2D fighting game, so it may not be that long. :D
Airk Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 I've been playing since CS release, and only recently do I feel like I've reached some degree of "proficiency". Of course, I don't play every day, or even every other day, and I haven't really played fighting games since like, 1997 otherwise. :P

For Tager, my progress was kinda slow in CS2 because I didn't really like him that much but I wasn't doing to bad with him compared to CS1. In Extend, I'm doing much better with him. Hakumen, it was around the end of CS2 I was finally able to start being good with him and him getting buffed was a big boost to me. Now I wonder how long it'll take for me to get "proficient" with Bullet.
Surf Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Think I posted in here once before but I didnt start playing seriously until the end of CS2 (like the last month before EX) and I was pretty garbage then. Now, about 10 months later, I still think my Tsubaki still needs a ton of work but I feel I've improved a ton in less than a year. Which is good, just trying to become better before CP comes out

I started to notice myself getting better every few months via netplay, and I'd rewatch my old matches and think "wow, this is just awful" lol. I'm at the point where I understand the game and the mechanics well enough that the only thing stopping me is being bored of BB/general laziness. For GG, I slowly started to get better with Slayer after playing a lot of maniac arcade mode and offline casuals whenever I can, but I feel I'm pretty bad at it still. Looking to remedy that soon though esp. now that I can play on ps3 + stick. It took me a few weeks to really grasp P4 but I'm still far from great at that. IMO, no matter the game or the character, "proficiency" is a never ending battle, for what works now might not work forever.

I wish there was a easier way to save replays, i watch my first netplay matches and they are a joke... still i been playing like 1 month now... i mean, i used to play, but in a casual way, enough to win on reflex alone... but since i bought my vita i decided to actually learn how to use hakumen in the way he its supposed to be played. I tried the challenge mode and so far i only managed to get 10 of the 15 combos right. Those hops, airdashes and everything were totally new to me, hell, they still are. Then again, i think that in a couple of months ill try my luck in a local tourney.

I'm not satisfied with it in the least, but I do practice and play quite a bit, but I feel like nothing is paying off. Nizzy Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Back when i bought CS and started to play with Haz, it took about 2 months to get good, but i still had things to learn. When CSEX came, becoming good with Relius took - what, 3 weeks maybe?
BoltofShadow Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Two weeks and I got to the cheesy 3.3k Jin combo in CS2 online consistently. Now i'm on Extend and I don't think i'm all that good with Jin though. Depends how you go about it, on your own, online videos, etc. It varies for everyone.
Axl77765 Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 I've been playing since a month or 2 after CS1 came out, and I'm still trying to become better with Mu, mostly in execution as a whole and mid-screen combos. My background for fighting games is playing Street Fighter 2 at the laundrymat when I was like, 5 or so. I wasn't really that good at it, and didn't really play other fighters until Blazblue entered my life.
