I keep getting tripped up by the new Renka input and not being able to combo after throw. It's still good in the corner though.

Counters are even riskier now and do less damage, but it's good when you have zero stars at least when they give you one. 2D has a much higher bounce that makes the timing a lot different.

Gotta get those airdashes down, it's hard to get anything out of Hotaru right now. At least til I get the combos down. It seems like you have actually less time to make something of it in the corner since the wallbounce doesn't keep them in the air as long as the old falling arc did.

6C sending them across the screen lets you do some weird stuff. I actually managed to connect Shippu still. :P It does like no damage though.

Shenanigans with 4C is how I'm getting most of my damage right now. That and resorting to tech traps and resets to trick people into giving me more. It's all 1-2k combos so far.

I sense that it's going to get harder from here on out once everyone starts mastering their characters and cranks out 5-6k combos while we stay at 2-3k outside the occasional 5C starter. Better bring your A game if you want to win anything. :P

I was thoroughly annoyed at how bad my CS1 Hakumen was leaking into my games today. Also, I'm getting confused by Hotaru's wall bounce and screw up timing the 6C a lot.

I'm pretty sure you can't combo off grab outside the corner, but there might be some weird freakish way to do it. It won't be practical though.

I just checked and if you're in the corner you don't need to RC the backthrow to combo off it.

Backthrow > 2C > j.2A > falling j.2C > 2C > j.2A > IAD j.2A > j.C > 5C gives around 3010 damage.

If you're about one screen away from the corner, you can RC your throw or back throw and land a IAD j.2C > 2C > j.2A > IAD j.2A > j.C > 5C for 2.8k.

There could be better options, but I'm having execution problems. Playing on stick + new combos is putting me back to the stone age as far as playing ability goes.

It looks like that's the best you can get off throw though.

Yeah, I'll have to try out that RC combo sometime, it's a lot nicer than just tacking Tsubaki onto a random Enma combo when I feel like wasting meter to finish a match.

You can combo mid screen grab into a RC Guren but as all of you know, that's a waste of mags.

Anyways, I kind of get what mAc meant in the video discussion thread when he said a lot of CS2 Hakus are playing at a lower level. I'll probably explain this further but I guess I'll give this game a chance another month before I make a conclusion.

Hakumen never had much need for rapid cancels. There is almost no reason to use meter that way.

CS1 Back Throw > RC, especially when cornered

Right now back throw 1st hit has 110% general prorate, so if you RC before the 2nd hit connects you could get pretty good damage off of it.

Yeah, I don't think it's level of critique that has changed, necessarily. I'm seeing stuff that's just out and out dumb sometimes. Whereas I can go back and look at CT videos from like, the first few months of arcade release in JP, and still learn stuff from how they're playing. What do you want to explain?

I dont fully believe thats the case, the well known hakus are still doing fine, but the rest of those videos are of some random hakumens playing.

I think they might be new to kakumen which explains their weird or straight out crazy choices. Most of these videos dont even have the haku players names, which says to me they are either new or not famous enough.

If my conjecture is true then give it about 3-4 months.

Eh, I've been that way since CS1. It's just stuff you notice as you get better. I also don't think the JP are, on average, that much better than NA players. It's just that their top is better than out top. Outside of top-end, I find there isn't much difference.

It feels nice to do TK Hotaru so easily now, but for reals the new input for Renka is messing me up. My muscle memory takes over and it keeps wanting to do 214B.

Okay, I was kind of iffy on the jD nerfs and stuff but CS2 Hakumen is actually fun to play. Maybe his damages could be buffed a bit more but he's still looking pretty solid.
