Competing with BB doesn't have to mean competing with them on all fronts, and if I remember right the original line from when the game was first revealed was something similar to "Let's crush the hateful Blazblue" - something like that. Which if anything just makes them seem like they have a strong case of

But even I may be remembering the quote wrong, I do remember what you are referring to though.

Either they apparently don't have the confidence or funds to compete on an international level (Or console market level for that matter), or it's just simply not in their interest right now to tap into that potential audience.

This is the same company that, as far as I know, has yet to even release Melty Blood Current Code as a standalone title on PC - aside from packaging it with a Limited Edition Blu-Ray that was sold at Comiket. I'm not condoning piracy, but when you make decisions like that you aren't really giving people much of an alternative if they want to enjoy your product.

Like xlolxlolx said, it's been seven years since Act Cadenza hit arcades and they seem pretty content to just remain in their established market in Japan, which is the arcades. Melty Blood AA's console release was apparently a huge flop from what I heard (Then again, they made the "choice" to put it on Ps2 in the year 2009 so go figure?), so it's not that surprising that they're hesitant to do another console release - let alone take their product overseas.

That said it's really hard for me to believe that they were NEVER approached by someone who might have at the bare minimum suggested a localization for Melty Blood, I can't believe that it was never brought up at least once. Regardless, it's not in the cards apparently - at least in Melty Blood's case which had the advantage of already having a following due to the Type-Moon fan connection and 10 years of people having time to figure out the game existed.

That they'd risks to take a brand new IP to consoles, or beyond that matter, overseas (When they won't even take the risk with their "Breakout/Flagship" franchise) seems even less likely to me, but hey I've been wrong about these things before.

Fans have. Melty Bread members have brought it to their attention countless times in person and online. Company wise only Aksys I know of attempted to work something out.

iirc they said that they didnt knew that they have followers for mb outside of japan until rescently like 2010 or 2011

I think they were just being jokeful when they said that line, lol.

its what i hope tbh

melty bread has a community of.....like 100 ish ppl? but yeah....both french bread and ecole are pretty much still circles, cant rly expect too much from dem bros

If they really wanted to compete, they'd actually BOTHER localizing and going mainstream.

Seems to me they're still small fish in a big pond.

i will explain it for people that isn't following french bread and don't know their history. Melty blood just exist because of GG. It was the idea of combining a fg with a visual novel that make typemoon agreed to work with them. Actually, the guys are fans of arc system works. The "let's beat that hatefull blazblue" was actually posted here

http://d.hatena.ne.jp/French-Bread/20100315 in 15 march 2010. Basicaly, at that time they are trying to atract ambitious workers for theyr new project, and this "trash talk" was used with just this purpose.

About the chance to publishing mb internationaly, komidol have a chance to talk directly with the ceo of ecole in setember's hydra gp. http://komidol.imouto.org/2011/09/24/2011-hydra-gp-melty-blood-championships/ (crl+f "There is a lot of corporate politics around Melty Blood" for the important part).

fg tournament players maybe (and im sure that they are more), but you cant deny that at least typemoon has a good amount of followrs overseas because their visual novels/ animes/ mangas

i wouldnt be surprised that a good portion of them at least tried MB in the past and maybe liked it

maybe just maybe, these fans could take an interest on UNIB, at least its what i like to think :3

this makes me wonder if they would try to contact arsys to help them with the (hopefully) inevitable console port in the future, like examu did with AH3

maybe that can open the door for Aksys or Atlus trying to make a localization, i would be happy with a psn/xbl release tbh

No one cares, but Linne's familiar turned out to be called Kuu-chan.

Sweet. I couldn't figure out if its name was supposed to be Said Kuu-chan or just Kuu-chan. I wonder what it does story-wise.

They'll be doing a stream on their USteam at 11PM JST on the 23rd.

Edit: Here's the post for in case they need to change the UStream link.

Edit 2: Looks like I got the link to the UStream wrong. Follow this instead.

It also looks like they're going to show the last character/boss there.

EDIT: The stream is up, they have all the characters announced so far. Sure hope someone's archiving this.

And why would they have the stream of the camera that records some random guy I don't care about the same size as the damn game?

That 'random dude' on the left is the composer for MB and UNIB music.

Well that's cool. And kinda explains the poor streaming quality, since he's not supposed to know such things well.

Welp, can't watch anymore because I have stuff to do, but it seems like Yuzuriha won't be my character in this game.

I guess it's between Vatista and Carmine now. Got a while to choose though, probably.
