LeFartknocker Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 well that's how you have the matchup to a exact science now LOL I think it's more to the fact that I main Valk and I've been itching to get my hands on Plat for eons now (as we all have, lol) so I'm pretty familiar with both of them at this point. I see no harm in opening the matchup threads at this point, other characters already have matchup threads on Plat so why not? :D
Hurricane Rev Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Sometimes it earns its title of Eurolag by being damn near unplayable, but sometimes it just is ok, a bit of lag here and there, but nothing terrible, it really depends on the day. Oh I see. Well, I sent a friend request to you and hopefully we can have some platinum mirror matches if the lag is ok. Interested to see where Platinum comes on the Tier Lists. There is already a tier list for BBCS2 and Platinum is a B....... S: Makoto, Jin, Noel, Hazama A: Valkenhayn, Taokaka, Rachel, Arakune, Carl, Tsubaki B: Mu, Platinum, Ragna, Bang, Litchi, Hakumen, Lambda C: Tager Is it me or is that hakumen is Platinum WORST match up? Nope, It isn't Platinum's worst match up. I've been playing some Hakumen eariler today. The thing about Hakumen is that he has more long range moves than Platinum. However, Platinum has got her items and the bubble to make Hakumen have less options to get in on you. This match up is all about your spacing. This match up is also about guessing. You have to predict on when Hakumen is going for the counter. I would say this match up is 6-4 in Hakumen favour due to his long range moves.
LeFartknocker Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 why is tager back to being shit again Because he's Tager and Mori hates him...
Starlight777 Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 why is tager back to being shit again Because he's Forever Alone. Also what's the update on PSN?
Cirno Posted May 13, 2011 Author Posted May 13, 2011 (edited) Regarding matchup threads: just chill for a bit. She's been out for 2 days, and only on xbox. That's not really a very decent length of time to grasp much of anything. Also what's the update on PSN? morbidly obese. as soon as there's something to mention, you can believe it'll be posted pretty quickly. Edited May 13, 2011 by Cirno
RadRed Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 why is tager back to being shit again 'Back to being shit?' He was always the worst character in the game. It's just funny because he gets a lot better every game.

On the note of Tager, does anybody else remember when he was S-Tier during the first few months of CT? LOL
SoWL Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 I sure love me some Tager discussion in a freaking Platinum thread... On the note of Tager, does anybody else remember when he was S-Tier during the first few months of CT? LOL The same happened in CS2. His stuff is just the easiest to find.
Chaoschao222 Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 On the note of Tager, does anybody else remember when he was S-Tier during the first few months of CT? LOL That's because everyone else did weak American damage.
soujiro seta Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Oh that III Jin dude, I thought I was the only one who found him lol, yeah me and him had a bunch of mirrors on the release day and I managed to win 80% or so of the matches, Im pretty sure like me he's had the imported copy of the game for a while. Sadly while his plat is good I remember his jin being pretty awful Hey snipingsnipe, it's me Hawkeye. You levelled up my plat on day 2 remember? lol, I really enjoyed our bang vs plat matches. They were so much fun. Unfortunately I had to leave. I felt like I had gone super saiyan against you. You put me in a spot where it was "get wrecked" or "ascend to the next level", lol, and I loved it cause I was forced to improve. Lol I know it's just been a 1 day difference but i feel like I have changed so much since you made me transform lol. GGs man, fun games those were.
YukiBlue Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Couldnt sleep so I went on the Xbox and joined a lobby. 3 People, all around level 50+ playing Ragna. I heard "Berial edge!" and "Hells....FANG!" in my sleep. not to mention that grunt he makes for his Jesus kick. I swear, fighting him get's monotonous. I genuinely wish I could play the Japanese (And lose) but still have some variety. OT: Ragna is ever so slighty at a disadvantage IMO. In the games I played, he really relies on ID for his neutral game, and Berial edge for the corner, at Midscreen, let out a bubble, and wait for Inferno Divaidah. And come back with 7K. If you're in a corner, expect more Berial edge, since it's the only combo people genuinely use. Mami Circular is also incredibly useful in this Matchup, pushes him away on single hit, and deals decent damage regularly and reliably if you hit confirm it. then just run after him when he is face-sliding and 5C > Dead Ragna combo. Im tired, so excuse this crappy post. It might help it might not, but t the moment I can barely keep my eyes open.
soujiro seta Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Btw, I have a couple of tricks I can share with you guys. I'll try to post it as soon as possible, but I'm so lazy right now that it might take forever.

Yuck tell me about it the people who play BB offline with me play mainly Ragna and Jin. And let me tell you Ragna's voice is beginning to sound like a cheese grater scraping a chalkboard, and I just hate EVERYTHING about Jin. But maybe this is my leftover CS1 Rachel rage. And your post wasn't crappy I now have some anti Ragna info thanks to you. EDIT: Nevermind that last part I'll just wait for the matchup thread. Edited May 13, 2011 by Starlight777

IDK what Ragna you were playing who does Inferno Divider on wakeup (or out of the blue just random with them) without 50% to RC, that's extremely risky and kinda dumb. Ragna has a lot more tools for neutral game than just relying on Inferno Divider. He's got 5C, 6A which is upper body invincible within the first few frames, plus his 5B is Air-unblockable. In the corner, when he does his BE combos he should be finishing it with 3C > 22C or 3C > Hells Fang + Tsuika for corner oki. As I've seen in many matches, Platinum is pretty vulnerable to Ragna's pressure especially in the corner (JUMP AWAY FROM DEAD SPIKE PRESSURE, 5B > Dead Spike is not a viable frame trap anymore!). The only things that can save you are: if Ragna uses an overhead (6B,214B,2147B[without RCING it on block]) just 2A it and get a free CH Mami Circular combo out of the corner, if you have 50% you can CDT or Counter Assault out, or if you're fortunate, Homerun-desu~ should save you also. Oh yeah, interesting fact, Plat's 2B lowers her hitboxes low enough so that Ragna's j.C whiffs if he IADs and does it. I don't know if it works with Gauntlet Hades but It'd be worth a shot to experiment with. Edited May 13, 2011 by Yggjrasil
Reioumu Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 IDK what Ragna you were playing who does Inferno Divider on wakeup without 50% to RC, that's just retarded I stopped reading after this, you must have never played fighting games before.
Yggjrasil Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 doing wake-up Inferno Divider is without 50% heat to cancel is smart?
Reioumu Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 If you know someone is going to meaty you because they always do it. Then why not DP? Like, if you've ever played a fighting game, wakeup DP is a huge part of okizeme games.
Yggjrasil Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 (edited) That depends on the player (wake-up DPs are fucking risky). I'm just saying in general, most people would play a bit more conservative against a character with a good DP like Inferno Divider though, and If the player is getting hit by wake-up Inferno Divider every time, then someone needs to learn how to block and stop pressing buttons on their opponent's knockdown. Edited May 13, 2011 by Yggjrasil
Chiizu Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 (edited) wakeup DP is a huge part of okizeme games. Oh my god, there's like as many ways to make a wakeup DP whiff as there are stars up in the sky. Also, I doubt a good player would do the same mixup EVERY single time, and if you're eating it you're free anyway. Meaties only get you so far after all. Edited May 13, 2011 by Chiizu
Reioumu Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 You guys are acting like I would wakeup DP every time. It's the fact that you're saying it's such a bad option just because it isn't safe. Good players take risks because they think their opponent is going to do something all of the time. DPs are one of the best ways of stuffing almost any button even if they are unsafe. And please, list every way you can make a DP whiff other than just spacing out or using a backdash (which Inferno Divider can catch several of them). And if you space a DP out, then most likely that person won't DP unless they think you're going to press a button. I'm just saying in general, most people would play a bit more conservative against a character with a good DP like Inferno Divider though Just the fact he has a good DP is enough for you to play around it, but this now also makes you . How isn't it good now? Now about the Ragna who that other guy was playing that would mash DP on wakeup all of the time. That is bad since it's so predictable, but don't go saying "Doing wakeup inferno divider without 50% to RC is retarded" Because it's a pretty viable option. Just one you should use less than blocking. It's keeping your opponent honest.
Yggjrasil Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 (edited) (Ok, maybe me saying they're retarded for not doing that is a bit harsh and I apologize)Yeah it's viable but still a huge gamble to be taking especially if Plat baits the DP and has Hammer equipped at the time she can take about 75-79% of Ragna's life in one combo, but all of this would be better explained in the match-up thread when Cirno decides to open it up, I really do like this match-up a lot though. I studied this one the most for the past 6 months Edited May 13, 2011 by Yggjrasil
Hawkmania Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 I really should start posting here, since well, I have an account. Though I felt I'd share my thoughts on Platinum here... - Get two controllers - Start up training mode, two Platinums, using your favourite colours, stage and theme - Attain some gaffa tape - Enemy Status: Controller - Tape down 2 on one of the D-Pad/Left Stick on the first controller ***HERE COMES THE SUPER TRICKY PART!!*** - Carefully, and I mean CAREFULLY time the 2 input on the second controller while both Platinums are beside each other so that they either... a) Nod left and right simultaneously b) The contrary to the above - Tape the button/direction down - Watch for a bit, then just watch... because that's all you'll want to ever do.. watch, 'cause that's what guys do when they see super cute girls doing super cute things... watch.
