Yggjrasil Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Having a character with a DP made me realize how shitty my defense is when I switched to a character without one.
Sharakonta Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Having a character with a DP made me realize how shitty my defense is when I switched to a character without one. I've only played 1 char with a DP and only when screwing around... Unless Hotaru counts....
YukiBlue Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Re-Done, Played More. Actually made an effort to calculate these a bit. Still more or less some lame opinion though. Take it for what it's worth. Ragna - 4.5 Hazama - 4.0 Tager - 6.0 Makoto - 4.0 Bang - 4.5 Jin - 4.0/4.5
HIGEKING42 Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 I guess i'll try to stick with it but i guess it will be too hard to get those combos down.
Swallow Moon Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 I guess I'm the only one having a hard time against Tager but finds Jin to be easier, lol.
YukiBlue Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 A good Tager is always a problem, I dont listen to people than slaughter him simply because of Tier lists. Tager is Tager, and he is still dangerous. You more or less have to change your entire gameplan to beat him. Lrn2Zone - 90% easier.
George Costanza Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Would using 236A during a blockstring be a good cross up? Maybe it's because I play online but it seems that it tends to work for the most part. Also I have no idea how to go against lambda's. Get's pretty annoying when bubbles can be popped the instant I put them out.

IB her swords and Heart Car over them, don't get too happy with this though because they can start to bait these. IAD > Swallow Moon > Barrier works for anti-air happy Lambda's. I'm doing a lot of studying with this match-up. It's very challenging, but it's very fun.

This one Platinum was doing that against me, it worked the first couple of times because I just didn't expect for someone to do something that risky but later I just started punishing the shit out of it. I'd say, "no", 236A is not a good way to cross-up.
Chaoschao222 Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 I'd say it's fine once in a blue moon, but no, it's not an efficient crossup.
Necrrofantasia Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Hi guys, new players just joining BBCS at this late point in time. I think I've decided on Platinum as my main. The frying pan and hammer "DOKAN" sound has made me a fan :P.
Emerald Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Hi guys, new players just joining BBCS at this late point in time. I think I've decided on Platinum as my main. The frying pan and hammer "DOKAN" sound has made me a fan :P. Those are part of the reason I've been playing her lately. I am however unsure as how far to take her. She is pretty easy to play however. It did not take long to get her basics down. I like her oki and her damage is decent as well as having a wide variety of options, though they can be pretty darn random.

Execution-wise, the only trouble I had at the beginning was her 3C>22C>RC stuff, but that's also pretty easy once you get used to the timing. Her only problems imo are her pressure game and how slow some of her moves are. Past that though, good damage and overall just being fun to play make her a good choice I think. Also, cat staff is gdlk. :3
Yggjrasil Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 I'm pretty paranoid about using TK Swallow Moon in mix-up nowadays... Online has it's fair share of mashers.
Moy_X7 Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Same, most of the time that I use it I just get mashed out. Most people are pretty free to Dramatic Sammy though lol.
Urichinan Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 I'm pretty paranoid about using TK Swallow Moon in mix-up nowadays... Online has it's fair share of mashers. You need to keep it fresh, train them into thinking your going to do Swallow Moon after 5A, 6A or 5C and then go into 2A, 2B or 3C. I was timid about this too because I was getting 5A'd out of it, but after learning to mix it up a little bit I found that it's still very good.
Yggjrasil Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 yo WoZ, I heard that an easy/consistant way of doing TK Swallow Moon is by rotating the stick like you're doing a 360, Is this true? or should I just stay with using 2369?
Urichinan Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 yo WoZ, I heard that an easy/consistant way of doing TK Swallow Moon is by rotating the stick like you're doing a 360, Is this true? or should I just stay with using 2369? It's really all about how comfortable it is for you, but yes it does work. You can't TK into Swallow Moon unless you delay your TK after the move you're jump canceling (Just like Lambda) so by doing the 360 motion, you're really just adding the delay by using inputs instead of actual timing. Personally I like to do 236[9]C, but again it's really all a matter of personal opinion.
fragile Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 What do u guys do against backward rollers (midscreen) after doing a string ending with 3c xx bubble(I usually go for b version) i never seem to catch them on time to at least continue pressure
Urichinan Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 I tend to either Mami if I have Heat (You might hit them out of their tech, or they might be able to block) or I chase after them and 3C. (Often times that will hit them too) If my 3C gets blocked I like to Dramatic Sammy because the bubble will keep me covered. =) She has all kinds of traps like that, most of the time they'll be able to block if they back-roll, but there are always those occasions where they'll be hit out of their tech. I've been meaning to post up a video of some Oki traps and command grab set-ups... I'm just lazy. XD

SoWL Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 I got the new obstacle between me and my sweet Platinum: the US PSP version seems to lag on my PSP 1000. I haven't lurked about it that much yet, so maybe someone else can explain this to me? It's been a while since I played BB with people. I'm afraid that I'm going to be yet another headless Mami masher next time I go to my friend's place. It's hard picking a new character after Tager...

There isn't much you can do about that short of avoiding characters that spam the screen with shit.
