Grab out of BBL was the best glitch ever. It was, like, the only way Tager could stage a comeback on Rachel.

I think the only sorta prominent glitch that's in the game now is the guard crush glitch.

Which one? The burst at super flash one? Or the Rachel air throw 2D one? Or the grab Rachel out of BBL one?
I think he means the one where she just stays frozen for the rest of the game, or whatever it was.

That would be the airgrab during BBL.

Rachel would get stuck for the rest of the game, or until the opponent dislodged her with an attack. Tager could sit around and wait for 100 meter, then just do a raw MTW > Terra Break and kill her.

All of those caused someone to be stuck mid air until their opponent decided to do hit them. There's also the- If you keep doing BBL in training mode, the game will freeze (though apparently it happens with other stuff, just BBL makes it happen the fastest).

Hime-sama causes so many problems.

All of those are fixed except for the BBL in training mode one. To my knowledge, that's still around.

There's also the Unlimited Platinum one where you just keep doing Miracle Jeannie until it's froze, or somewhat.

And then there's the Unlimited Noel air-throw > j.214C and it'll cause Noel to be in a infinite falling state.

But this is way off topic.

Is blazblue a good competitive fighter?

It's crack...it's fucking crack, save yourself the trouble and go do something with your life. Find the cure for aids while you're at it.

BlazBlue currently, in the form of Continuum Shift II, is a good competitive fighter.

As far as gameplay goes, it has it's share of bullshit, but every fighter ever has it's own brand of bullshit. It all comes down to which brand of bullshit is one you enjoy. While the two top tier characters may be kinda silly in this installment, they are far from unbeatable.

As far as competition goes, it may not be Street Fighter, but it's growing pretty fast with every installment, and like others mentioned, it held a main spot at EVO.

^This probably has all already been said before in previous posts, but hey, reiteration never hurt anyone.

k no really, this game literally got me into fighting games. I was a SSBM/SSBB player who hated the Tournyfag geeks who needed a life. Then i bought Blazblue, went back to Brawl in college, realized i hated it, then played Melee again. Realized I had become a "tournyfag", to the shock of me and a few of my friends.

...Oh, yeah. Blazblue? Love this game. Since playing BBCT i've gotten into Tekken 6, SSF4, 3SO, MvC2 (i hate that game) and MvC3 (Honestly, reminds me of Brawl.) This game just truly feels unique to me. It feels like each character is truely their own. I've played a bit of Street Fighter 4, but it's honestly not my cup of tea. There are things about it that just really urk me. For example, one of the things I REALLY admire about ASW and BB is that they take steps to insure that their characters dont stray into exploit status. Like how Makoto quickly had her Space Parry loop was removed because it overshadowed alot of her versatility, or how characters are specifically given animations/moves with backwards hitboxes for mixup options (Litchi j.2D, Bang j.4C, Hazama j.B, blah blah) instead of relying on the usual method of animation mindfuck. Things like that just make blazblue feel so much more polished to me from a design standpoint than SF.

Also, the game has been changing ALOT since it came out. The Corner Bound mechanic comes and everyone magically got their midscreen meterless damage options shot down from the previous updates (except for Makoto and Noel hint hint). IMO this helped encourage more versatile use of meter, as well as making people work on oki more. Many moves were given AUB attributes, encouraging more use of the Barrier Block. I've always liked the Grab system in blazblue more than other games -- since they're initiated by actual animations, and it gives you visible confirmation, they feel much more solid and reliable.

But most importantly, it feels like with each new rebalance, characters seem to be altered in order to further give them a more specific strength in battle. CS2 Ragna =/= CS1 ragna. Same animations, different character. His whole moveset focus now is getting you to the corner and keeping you there. Bang is all about versatility and pressure, Tao for confusion, lambda has changed from only zoning to now actually breaking defense, ect ect. Also, with each new rebalance, it's easy to notice that characters are also being molded to use their ENTIRE movesets now. Noel and Tsubaki can damn near use their entire movesets in combos now. Ragna can also makes use of all of his moves now as well (and they all send you straight to the corner). Combo loops are becoming more and more rare as well.

i think most fighters can learn a thing or two from blazblue. I started playing Tekken 6, and ive fallen in love with that game as well. It feels like it's changed a shitton through the years. The new bound system in 6, combined with the hitbox crushing in 5 makes me like it the same reasons i like Blazblue. 40 wonderfully animated characters, each with pretty large movesets, but each move feels like it has its place in battle thanks to specific properties and combo /juggle opportunities.

This game isn't as popular because it's a bit more niche than a game like Street Fighter which has been around forever and isn't 2D in 2011, which few people seem to really appreciate. Which is a pity to me, seeing as this is one of the best localization jobs i have ever seen in a japanese game of this nature. Also, Blazblue has a terribly steep learning curve. But I believe this game probably has the best Tutorial mode ive ever seen in a fucking fighting game. Ever.

tl;dr; this game is crack yo

Happens with Valk's CA too. There's a sweet spot where you can make his CA whiff if you have an attack that moves your hurtbox forward (e.g. Ragna's 5C or 5B).

That's all hitboxes, I tend to do that to LK all the time against Litchi's CA.

Yup. That looks like hitboxes, not a glitch. That said, I'm pretty sure Tao's CA in CS2 should hit Litchi during her staff 5C, based on how the hitboxes look, but who knows. Things change, and it's not unusual for moves to whiff when certain situations occur.

I guess strictly speaking you're right, it's not a glitch, but I hope it's not actually working as intended >_>

for taokaka's case, i'm pretty sure it's intended.

that CA was really really good in CS2 (only -3 on block, big hit box), so arc sys decided to nerf both of those aspects (more recovery, smaller hitbox). along with the guard primer removal in csex, it's just their way of saying "stop relying on CA for defense". i guess they tried to balance this out by giving tao more incentive to use meter offensively with the new ab2 confirms.

Welp, there you go. Hitbox nerf.

For some of the other situations, like low-profiling Litchi's CA, I'd say those are on purpose as well. If not, they would've just adjusted the hitboxes to make the CAs guaranteed.

Thread seems pretty off-topic at this point, by the by.

tbh, i wanted to shut this thread down the instant i saw it, but i left it open in hopes taht people would be civil; i'm glad it turned out okay-ish.

i think this thread has served its purpose and it's getting off topic, so it's getting closed.
