Try to name 5 good animes in the last year.

Psycho-Pass

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

Space Brothers

Fate/Zero

Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita

Sakamichi no Apollon

Zetsuen no Tempest

And that's only what I'd recommend regardless of taste.

Also Saki is great :x

Sometimes I just want my fix mahjong with shounen superpowers, y'know. Yuri goggles are just a bonus.

Fate/Zero

Sakamichi no Apollon

Zetsuen no Tempest

Most of them are not really my thing, I lost interest in most anime like last year, I really only watch old and mature anime nowdays. Fate/Zero is great though, but the rest I won't see.

GGs to Hex. After like game 3 or 4 my mind just kept going blank and my eyes started watering lol, gunna' get some sleep.

What did I learn?

1. Fuck 4B.

2. Fuck 4B.

3. Don't drop combos and get punished for 5k.

I chose all of them because none of them are typical moe cute girls doing cute things otaku pandering stuff 'cause I assumed that's what you mainly had a problem with, and these all generally have broader appeal, some even to non-anime watchers.

Psycho-Pass is a sci-fi thriller and the most recent Urobuchi Gen (Madoka, Fate/Zero) anime, most commonly compared with Ghost in the Shell.

JoJos is a fantastic shounen adaptation of a classic manga and is just generally extremely entertaining.

Space Brothers is a super solid show about two brothers who have a dream of becoming astronauts and I'd call it a pretty 'mature' show and the manga and anime both have excellent ratings.

Fate/Zero is Fate/Zero.

Jinrui is a clever seinen comedy set in a world where humanity is in decline and has regressed. The show looks like it should be a moe show but it's really not and calling it one would be an injustice.

Sakamichi no Apollon is a drama set in 1950s ish Japan and features jazz. The director and composer were the same people who brought us Cowboy Bebop.

Zetsuen no Tempest is a fairly refreshing shounen that has a lot of references to Hamlet and The Tempest and is fairly postmodern in it's plot and storytelling.

I mean it's totally cool to not like moe shows and whatnot but there's still a ton of stuff released that aren't just pandering and implying that there isn't even 5 'good' anime in the last year is just really silly imo.

Psycho-Pass does sound pretty cool. I love Urobuchi Gen, even though Madoka wasn't that good.

The fact that you compared it to GITS has me more interested.

Tbh, I probably just not looking in the right places. The site I used to visit constantly talks about To-Love-Ru and similar shows that just make me wonder why they make this stuff.

So yeah I'm not exactly a fan of moe or anime romance or typical shounen (Minus Gintama <3).

Pretty much everything Shruikon said plus K. And the new Jormungand.

Also, Symm: I'm not disrespecting your opinion, but could you tell me why you hate Madoka so much? I'm curious.

Also, fine games towards Yuki, Monolith, and Progject. Also, Progject, quite frankly, every Character within BB is braindead/ flowchart/ fundamentalless to some extent. The only exception is probably Makoto.

If you played Guilty, all of this would be solved. I PROMISE.

Also, I may actually sign up for that tourney. Would any - body else intend to?

Maybe, if I have the time for it.

Also, I just bought SSF4, so you can play that with me now, seeing as it seems to currently be your main game.

I might join in but I'll have to brush up my connection stability for it as I've had a few problems I couldn't be asked to sort out over the last couple of months. Kind of not focusing on CSE as well as I'm trying to Platinum CS2 and get that out of the way and done with. I like the name "Eurobro monthlies" though xD

Amane will be in da house

Amane somehow looks both annoying yet fun to fight against.

Guy looks so troll, like lambda on acid

Like, Amane's neutral game looks proper weird and not even Arakune weird like, stranger and less efficient than that kind of weird...

I mean he can get damage but its inconsistent as fuck and he only has any real presence when in level 3 but I will say he has the most reasons for doing OD at the start of a match/round because its ruthlessly efficient especially if he can get momentum as well.

P why you hate Madoka so much?.

It's way too overrated. If I was to rate it, I would give it a 7/10. People say stuff likes its the first anime to do this, etc (Which it is not) and it just kinda' annoys me that the anime mostly runs on an okay story and shock factor. I went into it expecting a dark fantasy tale about Magical Girls, and all I got out of it was a Magical Girl anime with a few shocks here and there.

12 episode was also way too short, I was hoping for a lot more action but oh well =(

The best thing about it is the art, other then that its an average mahou shoujo.

Amane looks meh. I watched a long set of Az vs Amane and it pretty much ended the second Azrael got in.

Xbox, FT50's on BBCP release, all victims welcome

I shall admit it's overhyped. Overrated, perhaps not, but overhyped, definitely.

The amusing thing about people saying that Madoka is the first Mahokka deconstruction isn't that they're wrong within claiming that it is first, it's that they're, for the most part, wrong about it being such a thing within the first place. Madoka is less a deconstruction of magical girl series' as it is giving the usual things a much darker twist. The only exception honestly would be

OM NOM NOM

, and maybe Kyubey and

the witch transformation

. Everything else is lighter stuff within darker shade.

However, I definitely wouldn't call it an "average mahou shoujo". As well as the art you mentioned, there is, well, the shock factor that you also said of. Except that I personally don't believe it's that entirely. It isn't only somewhat gratuitious, but, when you look past the fact that you just saw one to several little girls subject towards a terrible event, you realize what it is: Tragedy. It's not only intended to shock you, it's also meant to make you feel for the character's it presents to you, and, for me at least, it did. That's what I like about it: It's main events first present you with a shock, which only serves to make it blatantly clear what has happened and what effects it has. Of course, emotional appeal is subjective. But I find it interesting that they attempted to combine the two within such a way. Also, as towards shock factor, I'll admit to liking that as well: I have a fascination with how far people will go. However, I do believe that there is focus too much on the fact that a little girl died, rather than the fact that some - body died. Honestly, it's just efficient tragedy, applied with magical girl themes.

As for the entire twelve episode thing, while I admit it could have been better with more time, I find it both commendable for fitting in as much as they did within as such, and useful for shielding it from another problem that most magical girl series have: Lots and lots of filler.

I'm sorry if this seems heavy handed. I'm not asking you, or any - one else, to like it. It's just, eh, I like sharing my opinions. And it's helpful to have differing ideas: It allows people to think about their, well, thoughts and detail them, as we have done here.

SF you say? I'll take some games as of now!

THERE BETTER BE GUILTY WHEN YOUR CONSOLE'S BACK.

Nah, its nice to actually have a discussion with someone without them turning it into a argument (Everyone that lives in Crawley).

I never got attached to the characters, tbh I found some scenes more comedic rather then tragic. I actually giggled at the first time I saw the famous

head bit off

scene. I just felt bored at all the talking, nothing really interested me.

Not that its relevant but what was up with the opening spoiling the show

Had madoka in magical girl outfit even though she becomes one only at the end.
