lots of taos say this but i dont buy it. its like how capcom justified SF4 seth by saying he had low health.

Trying playing Tao and see if you still think the same.

I would buy this if there weren't universal defensive mechanics to help Tao out if she does get pinned down.

You have a character that dominates neutral and has insane pressure; only drawback is limited defense. Even if Tao's opponent does guess right once and get a lucky hit, she has two bursts, a counter assault, and a reversal super to get them off of her and force neutral again.

Meanwhile those same defensive measures are less effective for her opponents because bursting and CAing merely return Tao to neutral where she has the advantage.

Am I the only person who doesn't find Tao pressure that good?

Toan, up for a few matches right now? just to test EC-WC connection with my college net :3

No. I'm currently on 360 playing Magic and BB isn't good enough to make me stop playing Magic.

that all speaks to the fact that tao has favorable matchups against the entire cast

and not of the part where she dies really fast. her defense is not that limited - fuck that, limited defense is characters like makoto, not characters frame 1 low profile, frame 1 low invuln, 7f invuln 18f total backsteps, 6f 2as with double range, etc. it's more that she presents plenty of opportunities to do something random during her pressure, and it only takes a couple random things during her pressure to kill her. or just randomly pressing buttons in neutral. because although she has an exceeding strong neutral, anytime you get in neutral you pretty much could have done somehting in there to hit her instead.

really, against tao, the more random stuff I do, the better I do.

i mean, I don't want there to be any misunderstanding, I think tao is a totally dumb character that is probably hated more than Noel. Noel tries to force her way with random bullshit. Taokaka forces you to play like a chicken with its head chopped off.

also I guess I don't think she is more prone to randomness than characters like makoto or tsubaki, but rather, there are characters that can reduce randomness to an extreme, like lambda, litchi, and rachel.

how good your matchup is against Tao is like 40% how good your 5a is as an anti-air, lol

Except that Tao vs Litchi was last listed at 6-4 Tao.

Unless of course, some litchis changed their mind after watching Both Shounen and Puromete get overwhelmed by the character several times in one night.

Litchi's tools are overestimated in this match. Tao is a very difficult matchup for her because Frame Data.

Anyways, I should play tonight. I'm not sure if I should. Maybe. Dat 5% win rate.

I will play if someone wants to play me.

You aren't. It's so easy to block, eventually she just fucks up on her own and you take your free win

Magic is so fun. If only it didn't rape your wallet to pieces ;_;

Even drafts get expensive after a while.

Order singles and go budget.

There's always the DotP series.

Even budget decks were kind of expensive last standard. I want to say good B/W tokens was still like $60, but I may just be overestimating.

how so, please explain more. compare/contrast with tsubaki pressure.

Imagine your overhead is exactly as slow but the tell is twice as strong because you leave the ground and someone could probably just DP you out for free when they see it

yeah, that's 6b

the problem is, 6b is +2 for some dumb reason

I found there is a direct proportion to the amout of 4B I use and the amount I win. 4B(1)>4B(2) blockstring unblockable. Too OP. Ban

4B(1) whiffs>4B(2) is netplay unblockable short of yomi, so yeah

tsubaki pressure costs stars and is actually useful?

where as tsubaki is just braindead low damage stupid.

get on no ones level fooby.

but no seriously toas pressure isnt that dangerous, its trying to hit her that makes her dangerous. her pressure if you arent patient makes you screw yourself over. theres some gaps where you can legitimately tag her.

tsubakis pressure on the other hand, if the player continues to use her normals its hard to tell where the gap is because of double normals by choice, reverse revolver actions and frame traps.

but im hakumen so what does i know.

besides being a king.

GGs to someonewhobodied, (random Jin) mcshadow?, and DJ_Daishi (stayfree)

You guys were fun as hell and the jokes were worth it. Ignoring the few lost the matches were all great and I'll learn to play off of mistakes one of these days.

ps- someonewhobodied treats lambda 4B as a DP, that was unbelievable and how well it worked. WC, great laughs and one of these days we'll be able to hang out in person.

Its a 9 frame poke with the 2nd hit's hitbox big enough that its like a resized anti-air. Size it down to a character's height and its basically head invul.

This is a good example. If your name is not litchi, tao cant combo from 6b without ch or 50 heat, and whos not mashing dp vs it anyway? ch should be rare.

Not having a good ground overhead or any true way to force 50/50 on the foe dampens her ability to mixup. Crossups border on gimmicky vs good players and even with proper conditioning, aren't hard to block. Each time she drives as a form of pressure, she is taking a weighted gamble. The foe could rps 5a/dp/block in most cases. For these reasons and more, it is very easy to get into a tao's head when the mutated kitty is on offense if you know what to look for.

It's like, she has a noose and you can hang yourself if you dont know what to look for/aren't patient, or she'll eventually just hang herself instead. That's why the general consensus vs her is to be patient, she doesn't have a drill or a 12 frame overhead, so there is no reason not to block until you can find a pattern

Tsu's pressure is just an inferior version of tao's with a really slow but functional overhead.

Hmmm, well I'll leave the frame data to you guys while I'll just worry about properties of the attack. On another note I sort of regret not staying long enough to fight Solex, most of my Jin experience was fighting my best friend, Shinsyn, heidern, moy, 54_cards, and a couple of EC. Sorry if I forgotten your name but mad props to you all for all the experience over the time.

I might turn on the game again if I don't find anything entertaining and just work with Persona instead.
