With all the (somewhat) obvious preference for the Japanese version around these parts, I feel a little alone in my anticipation for the English dub. BB has, in my opinion, one of the best dubs around.

You're not the only one. I love the JP voices to death, and I can't imagine playing any real matches without them, but I do think the dub for BB is fantastic.

I'm still patiently waiting for info on the new character's VA's. I'm curious to see who they're going with.

I really wish they'd add the option to individually select voices by character like you can in certain other games.

I love the English voices, save for one tiny little huge'ish exception; in-battle Haz.

...but since that's the voice I end up hearing the most, I just stuck with the JPN voices. :sweatdrop:

He/they were fine in the story and everything, but the move-name translations...ugh.

Don't know why his are so direct, when other char's are more loosely named or just plain left alone.

Hell, the whole game does well to avoid that stuff and make everything flow as naturally as possible in English(for a story about superfluous Japanese mythology, featuring robot-girls),

and yet things like Serpent's Infernal Rapture are there, being awkward as hell.

Plus all of his lines in general are like 50-75% less bat-**** crazy-sounding...

...His Relius-specific quotes almost make up for it though :kitty: ...but still! Do want voice selection feature.

Probably not gonna happen though I guess. *shrug*

Haz eng in-battle voice is my favourite but i know that his "old" VA will be replaced with "new one" to please anime fans. I'll switch to jap in this case but dont want to replace voice of whole cast just for this obstacle. That's why individual voice select is so great option.

But they should re-record english dub as well so maybe new dub will be worse than original (as new jap dub)

Ok got a question regarding the character selection screen that im sure everyone has seen by now. Has anyone ever considered that the big question mark icon on the character slot selection isnt a unlockable character like we think it is and is actually just the random select icon instead? I dont wanna jinx it but its been bothering for the longest and makes me wonder about it.

I thought that was clear from the beginning. But selection screen has 3(6) empty slots. There should be Nu/Mu under Rachel/Haku and Imperator under random select.

I'm with you, man. How can you wrong with Patrick Seitz, Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, Christina Vee, Mela Lee...fuck, I haven't even named HALF of the cast yet.

'Course, the JPN is pretty awesome, too. Online mirror matches where one person's using Japanese and the other English are always pretty cool to watch.

I wonder who they'll get for Amane. Azrael and Bullet shouldn't be that hard to find suitable actors for, but Amane will be...interesting.

Yeah... let's not have this whole argument about Japanese vs English voices. It's one of those arguments where certain people are dug in with their opinions to an incredibly inflexible degree, for whatever reason. Arguments will change no minds.

Still, I think we can agree that more options are always better.

if you want guilty gear, just play guilty gear

I have a better idea: Instead of trying to do something different and bad, do something good that works.

All of the system ideas they've tried with barrier meter suck. It's a bad mechanic. The system design in blazblue (other than the drive button) is clearly the worst part of the game. Everything they're doing strikes me as rampant paranoia to make the game not Guilty Gear but in an attempt to flee from good ideas that worked in the past they're just making up new shitty ones and scrapping them revision after revision. The new burst system actually sounds like an okay spin on offensive bursts at least. Crush Trigger just sounds bad.

What it is is an attempt to put player choice in depleting the other person's barrier meter. Spend meter to deplete their defensive meter which enables them to block in the air/push the other dude away. Most systems in Arc Systems games have strong interconnections with the whole of the game's flow or other systems themselves. This strikes me as an inelegant attempt to make barrier meter relevant, which you can accomplish with LESS system mechanics.

Barrier meter is stupid and should either be forced onto other defensive options to make it more interesting. Making it so if you tech roll backwards, instant block, alpha counter etc it would subtract future defensive possibilities, then you encourage offensive behavior without stupid ass shitty dumb fucking unblockables for meter which everyone's going to spend barrier on no matter what.

Giving it a penalty would be analogous to stabbing a good student in their writing hand because they do well on tests. It's completely nonsensical.

crush triggers are probably going to be avoidable in a universal or character specific way, and the method of dodging may also vary in different situations and blockstuns.

l don't know how this is going to turn out. however l don't think it's fair to judge the system before fully experiencing and and experimenting with it (though, l do understand the skepticism). i'm pretty sure arcsys is trying their hardest to make a balanced system, and it may take a few tries, but the best product usually goes through trial and error.

watch, blazblue accent core will be the best iteration.

also was it mentioned if crush triggers are + or - on block?

They're supposed to have a slight advantage. Being as slow as they are, that sounds logical to me.

i do agree that barrier doesn't see much use and should be tweaked to improve it. all i'm saying is that replacing it with guilty gear mechanics is perhaps not the best choice.

Blergh. My only gripe is the Murakumos.

I kind of want my Mu back. Not just for me though. I felt like she was such a strong character, yet she was so unexplored it was painful.

It's just causing unnecessary "Panic" among the BB community. People are asking questions and not getting any answers. I can imagine it's demoralising as hell to play Extend Lambda / Mu not knowing 100% if they're going to be in the next game. Because there is a possibility they won't be in. (Although I believe they will...)

And I did mean gameplay wise. People are still discovering S Tier Broken Bullshit top tier setups with the Girl.

not really. technically, they died.

nu died too but she lives on as a part of ragna. it also shows by her being unlimited-only.

l don't really care if the murakumo's are gone or even if they aren't, but it's an educated guess that if they do somehow get back in, they won't be playable in some way or another. l don't really see them coming back if not fully.

(l mean, there's even a murakumo graveyard...)
