Kurushii Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Apparently this is a different interview Looks like the same dengeki interview to me.
Ragnarok_F4 Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 I was thinking about this interview. Do you think this BB could be the last one of the series (story wise)? I mean, I remembered someone telling that Mori said that he needed at least one more game after BBCP to finish the story. But considering that the PS4 is almost released and now ASW is working (or thinking) on another fighter for it, I think now BB has less lifetime than before. And now I'm not that sure if they will continue with a patch/expansion (BBCP2) for the next year and then a BB4 for 2015 and then its' upgrade later on. Maybe they will do as they did with CT (it didn't have an upgraded version) and immediately come with the next game.
Hecatom Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 (edited) Looks like the same dengeki interview to me. I don't know man, i know shit about the japanese language :P I was thinking about this interview. Do you think this BB could be the last one of the series (story wise)? Who knows, i think that is probable that we will see a new revision for the game (on consoles it could be like what hapened with CS to CSII) and later they will release this new IP. For all the interviews, it seems that they will try to balance their act with their IP's, hypothetically speaking they could release GGAC+R, BBCP, BBCP revision via dlc chars + patch, new IP, and then who knows, maybe a new GG that has been implied to be on the works or perhaps a revision for P4A if atlus keeps with the plan on continuing the fg series. Maybe they will start releasing every revision in succession between each one of the ips to let them "rest" and avoid people bitching that they release the new revision on arcades 6 months later than the console port. Now if they only made a new BF Edited April 20, 2013 by Hecatom
psycofang2 Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Now if they only made a new BF if you are talking about battle fantasia they did, its just in japan without a chance to ever be ported. if you mean BF3 i doubt it. ever.
Ragnarok_F4 Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 It could be good. P4A and GG need some love too. And maybe the feeling of milking series that GG had in his era, won't be so strong lol.
Chaoschao222 Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 if you are talking about battle fantasia they did, its just in japan without a chance to ever be ported. There's no Battle Fantasia 2.
Hecatom Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 (edited) if you are talking about battle fantasia they did, its just in japan without a chance to ever be ported. if you mean BF3 i doubt it. ever. The "new" BF is not really new, is a back port of the balance changes present on the console version of the game + more cinematic angles on the supers, the only difference between the ps3 and 360 version of the game with the nesica version is the aesthetics on the supers due the new angles. What baffles me is that part of the reason of why BF was not popular was the unfortunate lack of throw vulnerability on wakeup and some infinites, all of that was fixed on the console ports but never back ported on arcades until the nesica revision, i am pretty sure that if ASW pushed BF on Arc Revo they could have helped to increase, at least for a while the popularity of the game on the arcades. BF is a really good game, from the 3s like games is my favorite, i like it way more than 3s actually. It could be good. P4A and GG need some love too. And maybe the feeling of milking series that GG had in his era, won't be so strong lol. Well, now that the legal problems with sega are a thing of the past, i am sure that they will start to show love to GG again Edited April 20, 2013 by Hecatom

TagerTime Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 From the PS4 interview with Mori http://www.ricedigital.co.uk/blazblue-director-working-on-new-ps4-fighter/ From the looks of it, it will be quite high spec… Yes I’m really happy the memory has gone up. The PS3 was always going to limited by the memory – with the fighting games we make, 2D and anime figuting – it uses up a lot of memory. For example for BlazBlue we can only put one character against the other – now with the extra memory, we could have two characters. The next future BlazBlue sequel could very well be a 2 on 2 tag team fighter on PS4. This would actually force me to learn another character besides Tager! As he states in the interview they are probably going to start work on a new fighting game series for PS4 after BBCP is completed for PS3. So i would expect them to do a new BlazBlue sequel after that new game is completed. (Dont get your hopes up for a brand new GG game. All you might get is another update to +R if it sees enough digital sales).
.:TM:. Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Save the spin offs for after the series is done with, I don't really think the game needs to change to a 2 Vs 2.
White Man Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 I'm callin' bullshit on the "current gen hardware can't do 2 vs. 2 fighters" bit anyway. Skullgirls has shown us that the PS3 and 360 can support the memory requirements for six different characters with up to four of them on the screen at once, and SG sprites are twice the resolution of BB sprites. Not saying they should make BlazBlue Tag Tournament (in point of fact, I hope they don't), but the concept is definitely feasible on the existing hardware.
TPPR10 Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Also, didn't Guilty Gear Isuka allow for four player battles? Or was it another Guilty Gear game?
White Man Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Also, didn't Guilty Gear Isuka allow for four player battles? Or was it another Guilty Gear game? You're right, I forgot all about Isuka. BB characters obviously require more memory, but considering the PS3 is substantially more powerful than the PS2... Yeah, sorry Mori, you don't know what you sayin' bro.

It is also possible that the interviewer mistook what Mori was saying. If I recall, misinterpretations happen a lot when interviewing Japanese developers. Barring that, I do hope that if Chronophantasma isn't the last entry in the series, that the next one is not on the PS4. I just do not have the money necessary for that and who knows when a proper arcade stick for the PS4 would be made after that.
Elochai Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Now if they only made a new BF I've always wanted to try this game, and I would still consider buying it today. Too bad it's rare as hell 'round these parts. I thought BB was supposed to be a trilogy or something, no? I suppose there'd be more revisions (like AC+R), but this would be the last game.

I thought it was available on PSN (if Battle Fantasia is what you're looking for)? You can try that unless you're dead set on a physical copy. Then you might have a problem. EDIT: And it is only now that I see you have Xbox instead. Yeah, best bet would be trying something like Ebay since I have not seen it in game retailers anywhere. I thought BB was supposed to be a trilogy or something, no? I suppose there'd be more revisions (like AC+R), but this would be the last game. Not sure. Mori did state that as of Continuum Shift, Blazblue has grown so large, that they'd need another game to wrap it up properly. Whether that's a good thing or no, is yet to be seen. Nowadays, trilogy may as well just mean "let's see how well this sells first." Mori also doesn't seem capable of wrapping everything up in only one more installment.
Dark Ranger88 Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Having the option to do 2v2 online would be pretty interesting. If it allowed two humans to be on the same team against two other humans, it would be way better than the "team" option that extend has. Coordinating with someone who matches up well against your weaknesses and tagging dudes in mid combo would be pretty sick. I think it would also add a sense of camraderie to BB that isn't there because everyone is antagonistic. I remember when I first started playing BB, I was reluctant to go online because most of the people who stick with this game are pretty good. Hitting up XBL usually meant getting my ass kicked for hours and not winning a single rebel, which was incredibly frustrating. Team games place less emphasis on individual performance, meaning that beginners can still get a taste of victory here and there and not be discouraged from staying with BB. I think having someone by my side would have made the game a lot more enjoyable in my first 6 months or so of playing BB at least. Obviously you still keep 1v1 as the main mode though becuse you don't want to force people to use multiple characters if they don't want to. Also, having special tag team distortions with certain characters would be freaking awesome. Hazama's slice-em-up distortion into Relius's put-you-in-a-ball super would be pretty nice.
hipikachu Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 (edited) You already can do 2v2 online. One person on D-Pad/Sitck, the other on buttons? Sounds like a Tager team to me. Edited April 20, 2013 by hipikachu
Dark Ranger88 Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 You already can do 2v2 online. Really? How? I mean like actively tagging people in and not, you play against this guy until you die and then I'll come in later.
TPPR10 Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 You already can do 2v2 online. When we mean 2v2, we mean tag teams like in Capcom vs. series or like Scramble mode in TxSF
Luminos564 Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 You know, a 2v2 in Blazblue could be potentially interesting. Especially if you get two arch enemies who hate each other's guts on the same team. Just imagine Ragna and Terumi tagging one another in, spewing death threats at each other, all the while beating down on the other team.
