Call me elitist, but I prefer my smaller rooms.

I can't say I disagree. I've always preferred regular Player Matches with 2-6 players. It's much quicker, more efficient, and in general more enjoyable. 7 or 8 is a bit too much because then players end up leaving because they don't want to wait.

There is stuff in this week's Famitsu detailing the new online features (like the 64-player lobbies). Also some stuff about the new Teach Me, Miss Litchi.

This news make me man moist

A 64 man lobby just sounds unnecessary. It would be way too slow paced imo. People already have issues waiting for matches in an 8 man lobby; I can't imagine the sheer boredom that one would experience in an environment where the wait is 8x as long.

You aren't thinking big enough. I imagine 64 man lobbies will allow multiple concurrent matches to happen, in addition to letting spectators possibly have the option to hop between multiple matches to watch.

The amount of lag spikes due to people hopping around matches will be lulztastic :v:

Not if the 64 man lobbies are server side hosted.

My guess is it will be like Channels in MK/Starcraft (old school Starcraft).

Instead of making a room named Derpface we'd make an entire channel called Derpface that up to 64 people can be in. Every player can challenge other players to games.

This would be an incredibly good idea because frankly the Arcade-style lobbies simply don't work very well for Online stuff. All it does it limit players to fighting a small group of people on rotation.

Here's How I Hope This Works:

Imagine playing CP netplay and Dustloop sets up a channel called "Dustloop" and (for the sake of argument) imagine there's 50 of us in there. We're all able to challenge each other to games independently of what everyone else is doing and when a match ends it displays the results in the chat log for the channel.

Player A (Character) defeated Player B (Character) in a match! (2-1)

At the end of a match, players the get the option to rematch or not (both players have to agree within 15s). It'd also be really cool if you could challenge people to specific sets of games i.e. FT5/10/20 with character changing Enabled/Disabled/Loser Only/Winner Only between games.

If player's are in a match/set it displays a little crossed sword icon next to their name and you can select them and choose "Watch Game" in order to become a spectator.

TL;DR This sounds hella exciting to me. I cannot believe they honestly expect 64-player lobbies that don't allow players to play multiple matches independently of each other.

In addition, you’ll get to play as chibi-style characters to “login” to various cities of the BlazBlue world. The stage selection will be done in the fashion of an arcade center, according to magazine reports.

Yeah, the chibi character thing explains why there were "Magical Beat"-style sprites on the Network Mode banner in the build at E3/AX.

Were there any pictures taken? I'd kind of like to see what they looked like if possible.

This whole idea sounds amazing I can only hope it works as intended without lag explosions everywhere, but that seems like asking for too much.

In addition to what Chao posted, take a look here so you don't have to search through stream archives: http://imgur.com/j7C6qyy

As you can see, the banner for Network mode in the main menu has Azrael, Kagura and Platinum in the style of Magical Beat.

I don't see why people will think this will create lag. I'm sure the network architecture for the actual matches will still be peer-to-peer and will function as it always has.

Wow it's like none o you have played SCV or Tag 2, it's literally the exact idea.

Watch Arc's net code still be shit despite this.

This isn't so much a testament to the quality of netcode so much as it is a potential in social interaction, like on DL there are alot of netbats held, this would allow them to be ran much easier. Also when has ARC had "shit" netcode, like GG aside

I was wondering why they were using those sprites...
