Moy_X7 Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Isn't that just an early unlock code like how they do it with Unlimited Characters or will people have to buy the actual character DLC if they didn't pre-order?
Chaoschao222 Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Terumi is currently only known as pre-order DLC, with no known ways of otherwise unlocking him in-game. Could he be like the Unlimiteds? Sure, it's possible, but it's never been said, and we're getting closer and closer to BBCP's release.... Similarly Kagura is only known as a story mode unlock, but could, and likely will be like Mu in CS with an optional DLC ticket.
BlackYakuzu94 Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 If you preordered and are getting Terumi then you'll need a JP account to at least download it don't forget. Really? Shit, better make one.

Oh well, I guess I'll just wait until they clarify whether he can be unlocked through the game or if he needs to be unlocked through the DLC code only. I also want to wait until they give a specific, US release date. If it gets released in January, then I can wait but any longer than that is too much for my impatient self to bear.
BlackYakuzu94 Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Me and a friend of mine are buying it together and agreed to borrow it each week. When the US version drops, he can get it and I can keep the Jap version because funds are gonna prevent me from probably getting it.

If it gets released in January, then I can wait but any longer than that is too much for my impatient self to bear. I can almost guarantee you that the reason CP isn't releasing closer to the JPN date is due to NA's overstuffed holiday releases which will see tons of AAA games vying for dollars. So while it's not impossible, I think a an early Q1 date is unlikely, like MAYBE late Feb/Early March, but that's probably risky due to the big FF coming out. I think Q2 is a much more realistic timetable.
Tokkan Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 (edited) Uh, yeah. It's probably not a good idea to be skipping out on the US release if you want the series to continue to be brought over, though any financial trouble is totally understandable. I seem to remember someone from Aksys said at E3 they were trying for December THIS YEAR but it's incredibly unlikely, hence the "Q1 2014" date they're giving. From that, I think January is good bet. Tokkan Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 (edited) Hey guys. I probably should've posted this sooner, but you know how earlier I talked about this caption from the Famitsu article? ルーム内の人間全員が対戦する“全員乱戦”、体力無限の対戦を行う“トレーニング”など、ルームタイプはさまざま。 Well I didn't mention the first part, only the second part which talks about a Player Match room type called "Training" where "you fight with infinite health". The first part talks about a room type called "All Out Melee" (might be called something different in the English localisation, BTW) where every player in the room fights. I didn't get what that meant until when Kurushii posted the actual scan from Famitsu. Famitsu mentions there now being 4 types of Player Match rooms: "Fight and Spectate", "All Out Melee", "Training" and "Replay Theatre". From that I was able to figure out that the "All Out Melee" room type really means multiple simultaneous matches in a single Player Match room, literally everyone fighting at once. However, it looks like it's probably a mutually exclusive feature from spectating so if you're in such a room and are the odd one out in an uneven amount players, you'll have nothing to do but sit there with nothing to entertain you until either a match is over or another person joins. darkasjinksu§ Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 That's pretty awesome, glad to see how widely they're expanding the online mode.
spaghetti Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 I would love to see a "bounty" system against consistent winners on these online 64-man lobbies. I don't know what the reward for the bounty would be, it's just a really cool idea that fits with the whole S-Class Criminal thing cause of how the lobbies are named after the Hierarchical Cities and all
mAc Chaos Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 64 man lobbies aka go take a shower and eat dinner before your match
Kurushii Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 64 man lobbies aka go take a shower and eat dinner before your match I don't think so.
AchedSphinx Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 So essentially, in the 64-man lobbies, you walk around as your chibi person and find an open cabinet to play? Is there any way to regulate the skill level of the person you're playing against?
Dark Ranger88 Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 inb4 they're hiding a time released, 32-man team tag format
Rhiya Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 From that I was able to figure out that the "All Out Melee" room type really means multiple simultaneous matches in a single Player Match room, literally everyone fighting at once. This solves my second-largest problem with the game's netplay. I'm actually pretty ecstatic about this feature. Now, if only Arcsys would stop being lazy and implement rollback netcode...
Airk Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Now, if only Arcsys would stop being lazy and implement rollback netcode... Then we could all get on with complaining about rollbacks instead of complaining about lag? How about we meet in the middle and just bitch about the internet? That's what the actual problem is here.
Rhiya Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 I'd rather complain about the occasional silly rollback and get tons more playable connections. Every experience I've had with rollback netcode has been sufficiently better than delay-based netcode to make me want it. Don't know if I've ever heard anyone say rollback is worse than delay-based stuff. Can't bitch about the internet, since it's kind enough to exist and let me play people I couldn't otherwise. Some motherfucker needs to make a teleporter, though. Would solve all our netplay problems forever.

This is why I find all the pushing for 'oh, oh, GGPO fixes everything' to be kindof annoying. It doesn't fix everything. It may make some connections better, at the cost of some rollbacks. That's it. No magic. Some motherfucker needs to make a teleporter, though. Would solve all our netplay problems forever. Amen.

Airk Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Rollback makes good/moderate connections better, and bad connections still suck. So it's still an overall improvement. Fair enough, but you'd expect that the better the connection, the less difference it would make, so...
Rhiya Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Fair enough, but you'd expect that the better the connection, the less difference it would make, so... The improvement will be less pronounced, since the jump from anything 4 and above to 3 delay is like being able to breathe again, but getting 2 delay instead of 3 or 1 delay instead of 2 is still really good.
Narroo Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Fair enough, but you'd expect that the better the connection, the less difference it would make, so... Yeah, but depending on where you live, truly good connections are ridiculously over-priced or just not available at all. Let me say this: I can't stand playing BBSEX online. I hate even the tiniest bit of delay, so I never go on. With Skullgirls though, I can go online and get a good match that I like. I get bad matches to, but skullgirls is much better. Is there something wrong with wanting them to improve their netcode when we know it can be done? They could always make it worse; by your logic, so long as a good match can be had if you both have great connections, there's no reason to strive to make the game better. GGPO doesn't make the netcode perfect, but it helps a lot. Personally, I don't mind rollbacks; it just looks like a quick hiccup. And while that's not good, I LOATHE input delay. As such, I'll trade frame delay for the occasional hiccup.
