Guilty Gear helped improve my taste substantially. No joke, I was really bored with what I was playing before simply because I was too lazy to put any effort into trying new things. After I fell in love with GG I forced myself to learn all the advanced techniques to make the most of my purchase after unlocking all the stuff I could, then I started to look at other arcade games that I normally would have ignored before in a new light.

I dropped World of Warcraft (I was on the top PVE guild of my server at that time) for P4A (and eventually anime fighters) in August '12 and since then, I have been playing GG/BB/P4A on a regular basis. I also quit playing Capcom fighters altogether, so I guess that was another plus. Thanks again, based P4U.

Blazblue taught me that there's more fighters out there than just Street Fighter(09er right here). Also got my friend into it and now he's better than me XD.

Guilty Gear was the first game I sat in training mode and practiced combos and fundamentals.

And Persona 4 Arena showed me how much better I was a fighters compared to when I first started. And TRIAL OF THE DRAGON!!!

Through all these games I made new friends and learned how much focus it takes to be good at a fighting games. So there

Blazblue was the first arcsys game I had. Didn;t care when I saw one of my friends play, but a classmate playing ioit got me kind f obsessed. Played it a lot and it gave me perspective on tandem characters like relius.

P4A was also similar to it, but I held out till last year at christmas to get it. It is fun, and still is. Reminds me of how relius plays somewhatm, but my friend says it;'s different...love the all out attack mechanic, it also set up the recharge burst function in CP. so I owe it that too

I spent my 20's on videogames and now I'm fat, ugly and old and still bad at videogames.

Counter Strike

EverQuest

Tribes 2

Tribes Vengeance

Battlefield 2

City of Heroes

World of Warcraft

Everquest 2

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes

Battlefield 2142

Team Fortress 2

Global Agenda

MUGENNNNNN

BlazBlue

Guilty Gear

King of Fighters

Star conflict

and many many more...

BUT I have a neat family guild and Old people guild. I also got into shoutcasting and lots of other hobbies. Sometimes people say I'm helpful!

If I didn't have videogames I'd have no other way to get my competitive fix. FGs was a good choice compared to FPS, and I've gone to bat for the FGC:

I wish I made money on all this, though! DONATE PLS!

BlazBlue gave me an intellectual framework to analogize many competitive and logical concepts that exist in other parts of life too.

I always thought, "games are meant to relieve stress, not to add to it", then I started playing FGs...

BlazBlue helped me get into anime fighters a lot more, plus it gave me a reason to play them seriously with its unique gameplay mechanics. Plus, I've made a lot of new friends and acquaintances, as well as reconnecting with old friends I have met in communities other than the anime FGC.

For me, it started with GGX which definitely had some effects on me. First played it on Dreamcast at a friend's house. "Holy crap", I though to myself, "what is this magical fighting game with char designs so different, visuals that popped at me so, and music that was just f'n bad ass?" I didn't have a Dreamcast of my own at the time but I did have a modded PSX. So I found Guilty Gear for it and just played that for awhile when I wasn't at my friend's. I got a JPN region PS2 as a xmas gift one year (supposedly it was modded... it wasn't :P ) and had 2 games I could play on it. DOA 2:Hardcore and MGS2: Sons of Liberty... to my credit a) they were in English and b) I played the crap out of them. Shortly thereafter, I discovered playasia (nuff said) and that it was modded to play different region dvds (not games.) I still have my ps2 with its small library of games (3rd strike, first 2 Naruto games, Tekken 5, GGXX #R/AC/AC#R append (definitely do not miss disc swapping anymore thx to inevitable psn/xbla update.)

I didn't know a lot of people that played GG at the time and of arcades that had machines which were within a reasonable distance of me so all my GG play was via pad (sadly I'm still transitioning to stick when I fire up GG nowadays, BB has helped me a bit but it's a steep climb.) Obviously, that kept my guilty gear circle of friends small but it didn't make our matches thru the years less entertaining (XX#R Johnny <3.) And if given a chance to go back and do it all over again... in a f'n heartbeat.

GG made me realize that this genre is about more than just mashing buttons.

BB made me use my brain while fighting.

P4U made me lose the little hope I had in Zen United.

I also got lots of ways to practice my English and Japanese. And I got some very interesting lessons on game design (both good and bad). I'd like to say that it helped me choose my job, but I haven't got it just yet.

GG made my childhood (since I was 9) and almost made me to believe girls with long hair can do stuffs like Millia.

BB almost made me believe that GG is dead.

Both games made me know much more about FG stuffs: frames, setups, gameplans, styles,...

And no I have no idea wat P4A is - simply cuz NOBODY plays it in my country (or at least in my city).

I'm getting a forearm workout from trying to do these damn anti-air 5/6P > c.S > VCL > 6FRC6 > VCL > 5K > HCL > 6FRC6 > VCL combos. I guess exercise is something. :v:

BB didn't give me any friends, but it made me more open to other games, when all I played were FPS'. It also made me artistic, as I am constantly drawing now and writing. It helped me get into fighting games (specifically anime ones) and for some reason made me more eager to learn (probably because of the complexity of the story).

Guilty Gear kind of increased my determination from trying to become good with Ky.

Persona did nothing.

Well To begin, It made me spend a lot more time with a friend who plays lots of fighters.

I now seem to think on my feet a lot better.

And it made me $160 poorer.

Eh, why not?

Guilty Gear was the first fighter I played, and while I button mashed until the end of days, it was fun. Made me notice how cool some designs could be and taught me how to appreciate art. By now I'm already playing it seriously.

Blazblue was my first SERIOUS fighter. I did button mash at first as well, but after a while I said 'fuck it' and decided I wanted to get better. It was also the game that made me join a certain forum that over the years, helped me grow up and allowed me to meet people that I consider part of my family by this point. Obviously I also met my fair share of scumbags, both in and out of the community, but those are few far and between and not people we should think about. Shout outs to Dawn of Musou since he is one of said friends!

P4A taught me you can mash as much DP you want as long you got meter to turn it positive on block. It also gave me cancer.

Well, where do I start? It was April 22nd, 2010. I was just a rejected, depressed guy before finding BlazBlue. The only things that kept me from killing myself were mainstream anime and FPS's (which I got bored of shortly before playing BB for the first time). One day, our class went on a field trip to the public library. We were allowed to borrow one game, so I looked around for an interesting-looking game. My eye caught the radiant cover of BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger. The most interesting thing about the cover was the characters, to be specific, Ragna the Bloodedge and Jin Kisaragi. I borrowed the game and popped it into my 360 right away.

The first thing I noticed was the storyline. I was like "OK, I don't understand what's going on" and such. After a week of the game, I started to understand the story and how the characters developed over the course of the game. When I finished the true ending, I cried my heart out at the Noel and Ragna seen.

This game brought hope into my life and inspired my to become an author (well, amateur any ways). You can really learn a lot from this game.
