SoWL Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 I go to these news sites to read comments on Sin's announcement... Oh my god people still don't know who Sin is or anything about GG... You brought it upon yourself: no one in their right mind reads the comments. Also, Sin has only been featured in a 360 exclusive and two arcade games that are not available outside of Japan. Not to mention that GG is actually pretty niche as far as fighting games go.
FKGunBlaze Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Sounds like he plays like jam. Linking specials together and what not. When he eats his moves get stronger...I'm sticking w jam rather then hos and robo-ky. That's just my prediction on what I read Sin, who made his debut in Guilty Gear 2: Overture, was previously visible during Ky and Sol’s story mode in the arcade version. He brings with him a new “Full Stomach” meter that decreases every time he performs a special move. Once this meter is depleted, Sin will have to recharge by eating in the middle of the match.
king of heart Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Ogawa footage? Links please o_o I live in Akihabara. and Ogawa was playing against Karincho every Sunday night. no footage. i saw that in real life.
RurouniLoneWolf Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Patiently waiting for the full digital Famitsu scan... https://twitter.com/Kurushii/status/484390578407624705 Thanks Kurushii!
TheLoneMortal Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Ogawa got destoryed? I need the footage! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rteP5v9FYxU
SolxBaiken Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 It really is manga meat after all. Geese: "PREDICTABLE!"
HoudiniJr100 Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Geese: "PREDICTABLE!" .....just so I can shut up geese before it becomes an all out war. REPPUKEN! DOUBLE REPPUKEN! RAAAAGING,.STOOOOOORM! I will stain my hands with you brood.
Jocelot Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Lol at that giant slab of meat he pulls out. What is Sin, a caveman? Haha. You can remove the "kinda" there. That was murder ;_; Yikes, I'm trying my hardest to forget!
FKGunBlaze Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 https://twitter.com/Kurushii/status/484390578407624705 Thanks Kurushii! Based Kurushii at it again. I am just going to wait until 'ohnomnomnomnomnomnom' jokes surface...
Jocelot Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 So he has red and blue lightning? I was also expecting more 'flag' action, looks like he just beats you up with a polearm. I guess his special moves will 'keep the flag flying'. Also, do I see Raging Storm in that one shot against I-no?
DeathArcana Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 So was Sin supposed to be comedic relief? Because thats what Im getting at looking at the scans, still going to want to play as him he looks so cool
Fenrir Werwolf Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Sounds like he plays like jam. Linking specials together and what not. When he eats his moves get stronger...I'm sticking w jam rather then hos and robo-ky. That's just my prediction on what I read It looks different from what you think. He do not get stronger by eating, but he consume a bar using specials, an to refills it he needs to eat. Also the moves looks more like Anji fuujin (that you can follow up or not to trick the opponent) than jam linked specials
Antitidus Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Yo I was wondering, would we be able to use sprites from XRD? I mean it's 3d n all, I'm guessing we could only take the front view of the character. I don't know how ripping works, (I'm guessing you take the highest quality footage and just delete everything but the character and trim the picture lol.) but is it possible? (Also do we call these sprites or just models?)

Mumm-Ra Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 I see Blockhead Buster and Rock It there, dunno about you guys
Blade Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Based on GG2, yeah he was comic relief to a degree, but he also had some serious moments too. I don't remember him having white lightning along with black though. Seems like a Yin/Yang thing, which sounds cool. As for ripping 3D models... it can be done but you need a model viewer to do it right, otherwise you just get texture skins, next best thing would be to screencap every move they do and try to make a 2D sprite from that...
Coffeeling Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Given how they didn't fill in the inbetweens between keyframes, that should actually be possible.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 After watching Kitajima vs LOX, I can see how this matchup is bad for Zato or almost anyone. Her neutral game and ability to convert random hits or getting you to block forces into katame situations on her opponents very quickly. I started to see how Ky can't even get time to setup a grinder seal for Stun Edge even lol. She actually might just be the strongest character in the cast. Also for story fag purposes I find it interesting now that Sin\'s lightning for the first time is both black and white, might be symbolizing his developing bond with his dad. Since in Overture, his lightning was purely black and that's when he resented his dad the most, then he was only known as "Sin", not "Sin Kiske". His attacks looks awesome. @the person who asked if he's meant for comic relief. Yes Sin is, ever since Overture, but his attacks/specials are awesome lol
XXXDC Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 She certainly seems strong, but she's not over-represented in the player rankings, and to be fair, Karincho has more hours and more matches than anyone else on the first page except for FAB. I've seen a few tourneys on Goldenrody's channel, and there are some random Ramlethals sometimes OCV other teams... even teams with good players such as Machaboo, Nage etc. Maybe she is too good, or maybe ppl don't know how to deal with her yet. Regarding Sin, never liked him, but i still want to see him eating
Henaki Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 iirc you would have to invent a process to capture all of the images in "2d" beacuse the game renders them on the fly (take 3d, apply lighting, display as texture). this process is stopped when you land a dust, use a super or end a round and the game renders in 3d again. you could pull the model.animation.lighting data from the game and then render it yourself on your computer to save yourself the headache... but then youd have to get all that data which is a completely different headache lol i believe they did this at capcom (or whoever capcom outsourced to) to make the iphone versions of street fighter without as much middle man (render the model, play the animation and then copy the frame as an image to store in the game, rather than rendering). this is also how games like chaos breaker, dkc, old killer instincts etc got made.

This is some depressing stuff to watch. Kitajima seems to be figuring something out in the later rounds, but all in all it's just ugly. Hm. Seems like he's abandoning Eddie in the neutral. Focus mental energy on navigating the hellhole that is the whole damn screen, get close and then use Eddie for pressure, but not much more. Pretty good example of why universal defenses are important - Kitajima squeezed out so much value out of air blocks and movement-related YRC use it's not funny.

If you were to run the game at an appropriate resolution with no aliasing on a stage with no foreground obstructions, you could conceivably create "sprite" rips for almost everything, since the animation is frame-by-frame with no tweening. Most of the FX and hit sparks appear to be 2D textures, so those could conceivably be ripped and replaced (say, texmod) with empty textures so that they don't obstruct the character models. Of course, that's basically contingent on them doing a PC port, which I wouldn't count on.

White Man Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Despite being one of the least surprising character reveals in history, it's cool to have official confirmation that Sin will be playable in the home version. I'm still hoping for another newcomer (possibly as DLC), but I can honestly say I'm pretty satisfied with the roster as it is now.
