nilcam Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Thanks for the recommendation to try out Chip! After messing around with Chip in AC+R, I'm all in. I didn't realize how big a difference in speed there is between characters. I think I have a main for Xrd.
Destin Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 I really can't wait to get some dustloops going.
Uncivilized Elk Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 May should have finally had super beefy arms. What a waste to give them to Sol.
Mumm-Ra Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Millia stole her tights so she had to cover herself somehow.
Uncivilized Elk Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 The anime trope of character with puny little arms swinging around an oversized object (at least May's isn't exactly a phallus, but anchors aren't really that yonic either) still bothers me to this day. Let the woman wear her pants but for for god's sake make her burly enough to actually lift an anchor. Shit weighs like a ton. No way those skinny little twigs be lifting that shit!
ElvenShadow Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Well, some TOs in this thread have said that they're likely gonna get the PS3 version because that's what most of them own and there's really not much else in the way of fighting games for the PS4.  I am leaning towards running Xrd on PS3 at Frosty Faustings VII. I will own both versions but I think running it on PS3 will end up making it easier for people to use their own sticks and stuff.Â
Mumm-Ra Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Agreed, I think the ps3 version will be standard unless there's exclusive ps4 dlc characters sometime in the future, then everyone's fucked. No way those skinny little twigs be lifting that shit! It's japanese magic, man.

Ya know, normally I'd discuss this, but it's already been said several times we shouldn't be discussing character designs.

Let the woman wear her pants but for for god's sake make her burly enough to actually lift an anchor. Shit weighs like a ton. No way those skinny little twigs be lifting that shit! Â Doesn't bother me, because the real life is even weirder. Many years ago I saw on TV a family of three, a burly circus Strong Man and his wife and daughter, and he was not a main attraction, it was his scrawny 9-to-11 year old daughter who could hold both her parents up, with extra weights. Compared to that an 18 year old May lifting an anchor is nothing special.
Kaizen Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 I don't know if we have any frame of reference for the weight of May's anchor, but based on its size we can probably infer that it's under 100 lbs. It looks like an anchor for generally a pleasure craft or smaller vessel, rather than a freighter, a cruise ship, or god forbid the May Ship itself. Since it's part of her description, the weight is probably some arbitrarily high number which PR can change whenever they please to make the crowd go OOH. Â If, however, these parents you're referring to weighed 2000 lbs. each, you might actually be able to say that May holding an anchor is nothing special considering that they can weigh up to several dozen tons. And of course none of this discussion really belongs here because "story/cannon discussion" but whatever. Â If it was an anchor for, say, the actual May Ship, we could reasonably expect all of May's normals to be Instant Kills.
Pichy Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Pretty sure "she's Japanese, yo" is a legit response in a world where most of humanity are literally some form of wizard.
Anne Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Somebody even reminded you guys and you kept talking about char design. Please. Please. I'm not trying to be mean, but please.(Even if it's harmless and somewhat amusing, rules are rules orz)

I just wonder if we ever see any difference between PS4 and PS3 play. I am really curious how well or not well PS3-PS4 crossplay works on netplay. Although that will hold no bearing on tournaments. On the other hand 1080P 60FPS is pretty! And a large major may want to use that for their stream for people who can enjoy that stream quality.
Anne Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Btw on the tournament console thing, I run ASW stuff at KiT and we're using PS3. Easier and cheaper, and if it runs at 60 with no major problems we're going with easier and cheaper no question.
TITANIUM BEAST!!! Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 It would definitely be cool for majors if they used the PS4 setup for GF/top 8, especially if there are no differences gameplay wise. Game is sooooo pretty. Â Hoping to grab a nice bigscreen HDTV that has minimal to no input lag this holiday season so I can enjoy the full beauty of the game. :D
MasterXDrake Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 I'm totally picking up the PS4 version. Those graphics are glorious!Â
Antaiseito Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 It would definitely be cool for majors if they used the PS4 setup for GF/top 8, especially if there are no differences gameplay wise. Game is sooooo pretty. Â Problem would just be tournament-players with their good old PS3-sticks, that want to keep using their own sticks for Finals...
Anne Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Problem would just be tournament-players with their good old PS3-sticks, that want to keep using their own sticks for Finals...That's a nice logistics time saver, but I'm gonna be real and say the main issue is money and availability of hardware. If you're going to run a tournament you need to make sure you can have the equipment, and you want to run it on the same throughout for consistency reasons. If somebody gave me 4-8 PS4s with copies of the game I wouldn't mind running it on PS4 :P
king of heart Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 PCless recording and uploading or streaming. That's why i am in love with my PS4 even if I don't have any game beside the demo for now. It's even stores my last 10 t0 20 of gameplay for me so I can go back to it and save it. It's 30/10 12:40 am here in Japan and I am still running the demo BTW
TITANIUM BEAST!!! Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Might go offline once PSN updates, probably later tonight. Dunno, if it's still available for a while then yay for Sol players. :D Â And yes, the whole "record whenever I want and upload" feature is just too awesome. Can't wait for the full release to see what other character specialists start producing.
Yukikaze Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Does the PS4 1080 Ver' look that much better, than the arcade/PS3? Â Also I'v read PS3 will only be 30fps? (If thats true, I'm expecting cross play problems) Â
TeeJay Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Â Does the PS4 1080 Ver' look that much better, than the arcade/PS3? Â Also I'v read PS3 will only be 30fps? (If thats true, I'm expecting cross play problems) Â Â um, where do you read that because I've heard no such thing. In fact, are there even fighting games at 30 fps. Elvenshadow played a ps3 build (it was labeled) at TGS and it looks/feels pretty much arcade.Â
Yukikaze Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 No worthy source, which is why I'm asking. I cannot see any official sites that specify PS3s frame rate.
