Anyway, does anyone know if there were fighting game characters before Elphelt that had a similar lock-on targeting mechanic? I'm crap at aiming in shooters and I don't know how I will be zoning with Elphelt on an arcade stick.

 

EDIT: One of the guys in the GG thread on Skullheart mentioned Alessi from the Capcom Jojo's fighter.

Yeah i thinking something like a sweep cancelled into grenade (hold), 3 hits OTG and release. The simple stuff. The throw recovery seems decent enough that you could still possibly followup with pressure, but it's possible she could be disadvantage after it. Either way you should still be able to run crossup, corpse hop stuff.

I also like how the grenade lets Elphelt pull out the rifle without being afraid of opponents running towards her and simply kicking her out of the stance. Gotta love how it complements all of her modes so well.

Jam's the one with pantyshots. Dunno if it's still the case in Xrd, but in X and XX, Millia seemed to actually be wearing something like a leotard under her clothes, like she did with her original outfit.

Depending on the sensitivity, the aiming itself might not be too bad. Despite Pachi's comparison, it's not that similar to most shooters, so unless there is a good enough similarity with a character in another fighting game, you might just have to wait to see how it is.

Millia's tights are absolutely amazing. But nobody talks about that:0.

Hell, nobody talks about Sakura being in schoolgirl clothes or wearing BLOOMERS. People do not even WEAR BLOOMERS anymore in schools. Probably because they are sexualized as SHIT but nobody talks about that nonesense either. Either way, this argument is dumb, so we should stop now.

It seems to move pretty fast based on the vids, which would be good for responsiveness I suppose. I'd assume, with enough time, someone could fine-tune setups and other things with timed-based muscle memory.

I believe Potemkin and Bedman are two beefiest characters. And while Chipp does have poorer defense than Millia, his guts rating would debatably give him more defense than her.

Bedman, pot, and (maybe slayer) have .94. I still wish pot had .89, what pachi did to our poor burly man is terrible. But FAB and Consome do work... so gg

She's lacking the pantsu shot whenever she hits the ground, I admit. Expect it as DLC (god I hope not).

I really want a relatively high level match with these two characters. Is that silly to want from TGS?

 

She is a Lady. Note how she makes sure while falling down in the air that her dress doesnt  fly up (exposing everything under).

 

I also like that Double KO in her Win Screen after she gets the nose bleed. Anyone know what "dirty" stuff she was saying, thought of  that made her get the nose bleed?

Nothing "dirty" really. The nosebleed don't always have to do with perverted thoughts, but more towards getting too "excited".

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Elphelt's pink underwear.  That said, trailer is hype as hell! Also hope that Leo guy is playable.

I didn't know you could BS in blockstun, or maybe there is enough of a gap between Sin's rapid stab that allows it...?

Does that mean you can kinda mash BS during pressure or am I missing something? Its just that every other time I've seen Blitzshield used its been preemptive.

90% sure you cannot BS while in blockstun.

You definitely can't mash while blocking, because 4S+HS will not get you BS.

Has there been any information on that machine Elphelt comes out of in her intro?  Kind of makes her seem like a crazy person that someone (the senate?) keeps locked away for special missions or something

Yeah, I don't know too much about GG lore besides what I've seen in AC, but that caught me off guard. I'm not sure if that's a Valentine norm or what...

one other thing to mention: considering sin and elphelt look to be 100% complete (sans tweaking), that means that other characters are probably in development with the time remaining before launch  if arcsys has a good content pipeline. we could see launch day dlc characters (groan all you want) with the amount of time they have to make new models, implement, tweak etc. because its likely that the people who made the models have nothing to do right now otherwise. this is even more likely considering that they'll probably have to submit in about a month and a half, and should be using that art time for -something-. i can't imagine they need the art team to make the story mode atthis point.

Elphelt is our day 1 DLC (pre-order/first print to get her for free, otherwise you'll have to cough up that cash). Sin isn't DLC (unless you want fast unlock) but unlike other unlock characters in ARC's past (Mu/Kagura) it seems you can buy him with in-game currency, so he shouldn't take anywhere near as long (as say completing story mode) to get.

 

I don't think we'll see any others until at minimum a month or two after release, I have no doubt that they are already developing more characters (and Leo looks like a strong contender) as I'm sure they are preparing consumer content leading into the next major arcade update (possibly a reason they chose not to bother with any balance updates, arcade or console).

Given how ASW has worked with BBCP and P4AU...

 

BBCP:

Kagura = unlockable

Terumi = free for 1st print

Kokonoe = pay

 

P4AU:

Ken, Rise = console exclusive (no unlock)

Adachi = free for 1st print

Marie, Margaret = pay

 

*Both adachi and marie are free for 1st print in the usa. Only adachi is free for 1st print in japan iirc.

 

We should expect a similar structure for Xrd (likely closer to BBCP than P4 since Atlus isn't a factor)

Sin = unlockable

Elphelt = free for 1st print

??? (Leo?) = pay
