Am I just really lucky to have never had a nasty message sent to me and have only found two people on mic? (neither of which were annoying)

One of my pet peeves is when i'm facing a player thats much better than me and they don't take me seriously. Thats not using their main or trolling or whatever. At least when i'm getting bodied I'm actually learning a thing or two and if I win I can be happy about it.

The other thing that annoys me is bad players who think they're good and then they think i'm godlike.

Wait, this actually happens? Holy shit on skunk sandwich! How do you fail to shower in this day and age? If you have money to afford a console and a pretty hefty price tag for the games, then you have enough money or are in a position to shower everyday. Good grief, I hope I never encounter someone like that.

It is a lot more common at anime con's, but I have had got a good whiff of it randomly walking around in the last tournaments I've been to, local and national.

They used to hand out deodorant at some tournaments. wry

Although I think it's actually not as bad compared to other competitive games. I remember going to a Magic tournament once and it was like going to a landfill. Not all of them though.

It is probably because you have to have money (and thus be older, and have a job) to be able to travel to the big FG tournaments, and by then you probably have your act together.

They should continue to do so...

You all are talking about corpse beating? It is the best! Melty Blood Re Act and Blazblue CT gave you so much time to mess with them post match! XD 720ing people with Tager after the match ends is the best! Melty gave you like 10 seconds to do whatever you wanted! It is not disrespect! I'm just making sure they are dead! :D

I don't really have any except lag and PS3 controllers, but there is also this: overly entitled players.

I have had players that constantly complain, acting like I am only there to play the way they want me to play. They complain that I'm not taking them seriously, and want me to go HAM on them. So I do, but then they complain that they don't have fun when they are losing all the time.

They ask how to get better, but when you give them advice they just spend all their energy finding reasons to ignore it. In fact they usually resent it and give you an attitude of "why are you giving me this advice" and act like you should just leave them alone. But then when you do that they complain about you giving up on them.

the ride never ends

Man, the last anime convention I went to, we ended up in a room filled to the brim with people, with no air conditioning for an hour and 30 minutes (it was for an "Uncensored" Panel with the 4 visiting VAs). It still did not smell as bad as you described and outside of the boiling heat, it was actually a good time.

Don't misunderstand guys. I didn't say I hated corpse beating.

It just seems tasteless to do it against a dine 'n' dasher who just popped the game in for the first time and obviously has no idea what he's doing or how to combo.

6 man lobbies... then not getting a turn because the host wants to leave..

I can't imagine your reaction on having to wait in 64 man lobbies for CP. Especially if you're an odd number and have nobody to fight while everyone else is having a blast beating each other senseless.

How about when you beat someone, they ask for a "legit" same character rematch, and right when you pick your fighter, they counter pick with someone far stronger, or is an extremely bad matchup for your chosen character. Or they flip the Unlimited switch on you when you weren't looking.

But it is so satisfying if you beat them when they do this. xD

It is indeed, xD

/cries at everyone hating on lag. It's not our fault that we live on the other side of the globe, and there's only like 10 people who play here most of which only play late at night on friday and/or weekends TT^TT.

Jokes, I hate lag too ;-;.

We might as well exclude lag, I think we all agree that we hate it to the very end, and is the bane of netplay.

Now ROUTER KICKERS... :arg:

These guys cause lag on purpose and at will with all sorts of methods, which gives them a temporary advantage since they see the lag coming and you don't. I don't usually see them on BB, but on most other FGs, they are a pretty common sight.

It's hard to tell if someone really is a router kicker though, they could just have really crappy connection.

I mostly see people do it on SSFIVAE or UMvC3

Only thing that truly gets under my skin when playing is delay. Netplay, bad TVs, etc. Anything else, I can overcome. Delay makes me feel helpless in otherwise manageable situations.

The difference in timing between regular TVs, plasmas, and monitors? Yeah, I really f**king hate that.

I should really test playing on my monitor rather than the TV =.= I'm so used to lag that I bet I wouldn't even notice a difference tho lol.

One other thing that irks me is when the opponent taunts when they're winning (Or even MID-combo) and starts throwing out Throws and DPs like there's no tomorrow when they start losing. I find it to be both insulting and in bad taste. XD

On the subject of Corpse Beating, I tend to only do so in retaliation to the opponent doing it. Though, I'm much more of a "I just won, but I'm going to throw you just to rub it in your face" type of person. :toot:

When I know I can beat or easily beat a person yet I fuck up at the last moment and lose. Then it happens once or twice more before I win and the win doesn't feel satisfying because of those previous losses due to stupid screwups that don't normally happen.

This doesn't really bother me but it sorta leaves a bad taste in my mouth when I lose to someone's character in a close match, then they pick the character I picked (Usually Jin) and then beat me again. I understand that most of the time, they're trying to show me how to improve with my character, but it kinda feels like an insult when they do it without sending me a message or letting me know lol.

I second this peeve as it's happened about twice to me. The more I read of this thread, the more I realize that netplay brings out the absolute worst in people.

OK, new personal pet peeve: when it feels like you're not making any progress whats-so-fucking-ever. You ever get that feeling? Trying to learn new stuff and better yourself as a player, but it always feels like you're trying to smash a brick wall with a bent toothpick? That's kind of where I'm at right now and it's just the pits.

I always feel like that online and offline ._. then again I don't think high of my own progress. must be my thoughts. either way, I hate this feeling too, kinda makes em feel like a tota moron if say; I try to be a somewhat decent bang, and the fact I always get caught in stuff makes me feel I accomplished nothing whatsoever

I've been there before, several times. Beating myself up over snail's pace development or lack thereof only made things worse though. It was better for me to stop taking things seriously when I hit that point and it's worked like a charm for my stress with this game. However I rarely play BB now.
