Rhiya Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 When people don't learn when I do the same thing 6 times on them. If it's obscure or weird, people sometimes legit can't figure out the answer -- or if the answer isn't something they've ever tried to think about, they just might not get it. In Melty, I had people keep getting out of my pressure for free by jumping. I thought I knew how to deal (just do staggers), so I kept doing the same shit. After a while, I realized that if the kept getting out, I obviously didn't know shit about stopping jumpouts, so I hit up training mode and actually learned how to deal. (normals whiff 5a more normals, certain specials, etc.) Much more effective, now. Anyways, moral is, sometimes people don't adapt because they don't know how.

To be the best, you not only need to know everything, that everything needs to be imprinted in the back of your hand, needs to be the air you breathe. If a question rises up, you need to be able to know exactly how to answer it without fail. Such a painstakingly meticulous process that could drive some to perceptive insanity. So yeah, my input on corpse beating (since I do it): it's fun

Also, sometimes the execution can be hard to learn mid-match. Some things needs to be practiced in training mode, and even then can be tricky. (For myself, as much as I hate to admit it, I still can properly execute a dragon punch reversal on wakeup to counter meaties. Of course, that's because I'm an on-off player. Still, I do know that's a bit pathetic.)
Dark Ranger88 Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 I should really test playing on my monitor rather than the TV =.= I'm so used to lag that I bet I wouldn't even notice a difference tho lol. Please dude, I don't know how much delay you're playing with, but you should really play on your monitor if you have one. I noticed something was different the instant I stopped playing on my laggy plasma TV. You'll be able to react to a lot more things in neutral and on defense than you previously could. Also, a few frames of lag can make it literally impossible to beat certain players ("Can't react in time to anti-air or block overheads huh?...OH WELL"). So yeah, my input on corpse beating (since I do it): it's fun Lol corpse beating with Rachel: "I do believe I have achieved victory you insolent buffoon. How a degenerate such as yourself ever hoped to win against someone of my status is unthinkable. As punishment for your...tomfoolery...I shall subject you to being pelted by a single Tiny Lobelia. Or perhaps maybe a tiny jolt of lightning will cause you to rethink your actions next time." I can't believe more Tagers don't 6C > AC after winning. That always looks so painful to me.
Ventus Tatshima Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 It feels like me posting in this makes me a bad person. jk
Teutonicknight Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 (edited) @Dark Ranger88, like when I was playing on monitor, and the lag prevented me from actually blocking? I'm so used to the regular timing of IBing, that on netplay, it just keeps getting me hit like I wasn't trying to block at all, LOL I do kind of hate it when someone is playing a character who is totally netplay friendly like Noel. She gets away with a lot of crap like Ragna can, and it doesn't help that I am using a character who suffers super badly from even slight lag, while Noel can deal with it pretty easily. Not a very fun match. Yet, I don't want to be disrespectful by booting them based on who they use. It's a double-edged sword. Edited September 14, 2013 by Teutonicknight
Dark Ranger88 Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Makoto's netplay drive timings don't bother me that much unless the lag is severe, but I have seen soooo many Noels drop the Dash cancel > 6C > other stuff due to lag, then I just 5B them in the face when they are helpless. I always feel dirty when that happens. Also: Even some monitors have input delay. You should just try to play on the best thing you have available. Real ballers get CRT tvs though, for NO input delay at all.
Teutonicknight Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 (edited) Dirty things happen when that kind of stuff kicks in. :P I just need to netplay more, and maybe I'd be halfway decent. Because I can't really rate my skill with Makoto when I can't completely control her. Offline, I got down most of the basics. Here's another to add to the list of things I hate when playing against someone. It's rather small, but hilarious. Being invited to a game, selecting "No" by accident because cursor is automatically on it instead of "Yes". Edited September 14, 2013 by Teutonicknight

Lots of overhead animations are so much easier to make out.

swordsman09 Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 My Pet Peeve is turtles. Nu-13, Hakumen players, Yukiko, Elizabeth, all of those guys. Mics are never an issue with me. Netplay Makoto bothers me a lot too. In fact it's so bad, I even forget how to play Makoto without netplay.

XDest Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 People who start every round 2 with IAD air grab, despite it never working for them.
Teutonicknight Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 1. People who attempt grabs every two moves, don't learn the first five times, and make the same mistake again. 2. Stylish Tagers. Even with no bursts, and being easy to punish, they can still get pretty damn lucky, and they have all of Tager's best moves on the click of a button, including the distortions. 3. Scrubs who think they are bad ass when they beat you on one-round conditions off of dumb luck, when you were really going easy on them, or if they are so bad, it's a joke.
Rhiya Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 What shmups? C.A.V.E.? So, what is the lag difference between an LCD and a CRT monitor? I'm anime as fuck, so Touhou. For my normal monitor and my CRT, it's about 2 frames, or 33 ms. For better LCD monitors, the difference is much more negligible -- EVO monitor's around only around half a frame slower than my CRT, for instance.

Raziul Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 (edited) Bang's 6C whiffing on crouch. Can not describe how ridiculously infuriating that is. The general OPness of Valk and Mu. Hakumen's j.2C having zero hit stun even on counter. The delay between holding block, accidentally letting go, and pressing it again only to get hit anyways. Air Unblockables should be abolished. Not only is it lame to have your block magically not work, but it's wildly inconsistent from attack to attack. Edited September 15, 2013 by Raziul

GreekAscendedDust Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 People who start every round 2 with IAD air grab, despite it never working for them. Not gonna lie.... I do that because sometimes, it just works. Pet peeves of mine... so many to list that are already there, but I can say mine. What I really do not like the most is when someone just gets a one and done type of deal, and when some player just mashes arakune in lag, you beat them, they leave and tell you to stay free. Yeah, fucking laggy ass mashers in general is what I hate. CARRY ON
Sadeyo Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 All matches are generally fun but if I have anything against anyone is that they go for swag set-up because they're leagues better than you. Normally that incentive alone is just to push myself a little harder to avoid being trolled or made a combo video out of. Mad props to the player that knows their stuff but holy shit they rub it in it really burns the spirit out when you can't play at their caliber. Normally comeback for salties if I still have it in me but no point fighting them again after 0-12 match and you don't practice.
Luminos564 Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 The general OPness of Valk and Mu. >>Mu. >>OPness. What is this, I don't even . I can understand being peeved at a Mu-12 match-up (since she CAN do some crazy things). But calling her OP? That's a bit of a stretch to me.
