Daverost Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 I'm really afraid this game won't get the love it deserves outside of japan because people can't close an eye over the anime-style to enjoy what i consider the best system mechanics among the latest fighters that came out. This happens to pretty much every 2D fighter out of Japan that isn't Street Fighter or KoF. I've come to terms with it.
sibladeko Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 So your looking for the next blazblue or injustustice? If you mean that the only way to give characters unique mechanics is by designating a special button for them, then that is not true. Just look at Guilty Gear or Persona to see some good examples of varied casts without hardwiring it into the game's system. I expected a better strawman... Aquapazza is also an excellent example of unique character mechanics (or just character differences in general) that make the game feel like it has a depth of field. Dengeki however, save for Tomoka and maybe KYH, feels extremely generic between the cast. That and 4AB universal instant overhead having superarmor (and being safe if not actually plus) is some scrubby shit. And the burst system (almost zero reason to not wakeup burst as it's relatively safe, gives a minimum of one meter, it's hard to bait and only usually punishable if they tried mashing afterwards) And the constantly regenerating meter that makes the autocombo of ABC 5AB ex super actually a legitimate BNB half the time.
NeoStrayCat Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Trailer of the Console Version and its features... http://www.siliconera.com/2014/09/07/dengeki-bunko-fighting-climax-fires-glance-console-version/
Sanger Zonvolt Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 That and 4AB universal instant overhead having superarmor (and being safe if not actually plus) is some scrubby shit. Sounds like AoA from Persona, I'm fine with that.
Sadv3 Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 After looking at the wikia it seems like every character has the same input commands. Are there really no charge characters or traditional grappler characters that have 360 moves. I was expecting Shizuo to have some 360 command grabs.

I was expecting Shizuo to have some 360 command grabs.(...)"For example, people who play EXVS usually say that doing a 623 motion is way too difficult.""We wanted all the characters have the same play feel, that's all the characters have pretty much same commands."That's also why there isn't any character exclusive systems nor charge commands.""Shizuo had to be carefully tuned so he would be a good mix of simple rush-down with easy throw moves.""We wanted to make a classic fighting game, where you could be good by knowing the character's specials.""Armor looks cooler than invincibility which simply passes through the opponent - that's why Impact Skill's have armor:""I haven't said we wouldn't add more characters!""We definitely considered adding Akira already, but decided to let people concentrate to the two new characters.""We understand that there are balancing problems with the Support Characters.""Kaga Kouko was the most popular Support Character when game launched. Lately, Wilhelmina and Celty have been really popular.""We were surprised that there are so many Support Characters that pretty much no one uses...""On the next update, we want to make bigger changes to the game."(...)So yeah, you guys are on point. But there's still hope for change.
TAI-X Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I bought UNIB; I am not getting this. There's been nothing to sway my opinion that it's a soulless cash grab with degenerate mechanics that FB rushed out the door as a contractual obligation. Aquapazza was also made on contract, but it at least seemed like Examu really cared about the licenses and put a ton of thought and effort into making each character interesting and unique. Not feeling any of that here.
Poultrygeist Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Sounds like AoA from Persona, I'm fine with that. AoAs are easily punished/beaten though and most aren't + on block.
Celerity Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Not every game needs to be the pinnacle of ingenuity and depth to be fun. To be honest, DFC's simplicity makes me more likely to buy it, since we've been getting so many releases lately and this is going to be hopelessly competing with Xrd for new game hype.
SoWL Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 this is going to be hopelessly competing with Xrd for new game hype. ...Again.
Grim-reaper Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 All i know is i'm gonna be screaming KAWAIIIIII everytime i see this : FAYTO ! AAAAAAH !
TAI-X Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Not every game needs to be the pinnacle of ingenuity and depth to be fun. With so many options for fighting games these days competing for my time and money, yes, they do.
Keo-bas Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 With so many options for fighting games these days competing for my time and money, yes, they do. Good thing you realize this game wasn't design for you. You wont be missed.
Setsuna Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 ...Again. When DFC and Xrd released together in Japan DFC actually had equal or more players than Xrd (this may have been day/arcade specific) I'm not sure about the current status by comparison you'd probably have to ask Xie however its still pretty strong. With so many options for fighting games these days competing for my time and money, yes, they do.Good for you, if you have nothing to contribute besides disinterest in the game you don't have to reply anymore you know.
SoWL Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 When DFC and Xrd released together in Japan DFC actually had equal or more players than Xrd (this may have been day/arcade specific) I'm not sure about the current status by comparison you'd probably have to ask Xie however its still pretty strong. I was talking about how DFC and Xrd were supposed to come out on the same month, but then they decided to delay DFC so they don't compete with each other too much. And I have seen some arcades with no occupied Xrd machines, while the DFC ones had some action going on around them, so yeah, I'd say the game's doing pretty well so far.
CamTSB Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Honestly, as someone who plays quite a bit of Ultra and a bit of Marvel, one of the main things I'm looking forward to is the fact that the cast is all characters that I will enjoy seeing for one reason or another. There won't be any "Oh great, another Yun/ERyu/Zero/Vergil." Sure, some characters will show up more than others, like Kirito, Asuna and Shana, but unless someone literally makes ToD combos with those characters I'm still going to enjoy seeing them played. Also I heard something about DFC being at NEC. If I can confirm that, I'll definitely have a good enough reason to make the trip down there.
Tigre Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Yes. DFC will be at NEC. I will be running it.I agree with Sibla on how I feel about this game. I'm not entirely sold on it still (But, like with new games I'm going to play it personally before passing an absolute judgement). The 4AB move is barely similar to AoA from P4U. AoA is very punishable, you just need to block high. 4AB in this game is plus which is pretty funny. Not every game needs to be the pinnacle of depth, but if there are other games that offer a similar experience with more to explore gameplay wise then yes I can understand someone not wanting to spend money on the game. Stop trying to run someone out of the thread with pitchforks because they have a different opinion guys, A combative playerbase is not a good look, and it's not going to help draw in new players if people are met with "fuck you i'm taking my toys and leaving if you say something bad about them".Not even gonna lie, I'm picking this game up mostly because it looks like a really straight forward game that I can just mash in. I can completely understand someone not wanting to pick the game up for that very same reason. I also am willing to bet that a (good) portion of the American players are picking this game up based entirely on character love so that really doesn't put you in a much better position than camps a or b here lol.tl;dr, can't really shit on the logic to skip the game, if someone wants to talk about what they don't like in the game I see nothing wrong with that. No one is going to like everything about a game (There are things I don't like in AH3, I still play it) and trying to push someone out of the discussion because they are trying to find value in it is sorta fucked.
Setsuna Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 I don't mind different opinions but once one has established a disinterest in a game I really don't want to see it reestablished again if its outside discussion. I may have been hasty with my response and I apologize for that.
Sadv3 Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 All i know is i'm gonna be screaming KAWAIIIIII everytime i see this : FAYTO ! AAAAAAH ! It's the spiritual successor to Sean from 3rd Strike. Kappa
LarsMasters Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Cover Art &... Wait... Are those Console Exclusive Playable Characters? So Akira is like Eltnum & Akatsuki since he's a guest http://dengekionline.com/elem/000/000/926/926880/ EDIT: Never Mind what i said about console exclusive charaters. It's just Taiga & Yukina. I kinda bit confusing.
SoWL Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Don't see any console-exclusive chars there, though it did take me a while to recognize Taiga and Yukina.
TekkamanArk Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 I'm not seeing anything whatsoever about console exclusive playable characters here.
Daverost Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Taiga and Mokkan paired on the cover. Best alliance.
SolxBaiken Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 This game has now piqued my interest . . . Selvaria Bles will be a playable character with Alicia Gunther as an assist character
LarsMasters Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 So just only 2 Sega guests then I would like to say that: Akira = Akatsuki Selvaria = Eltnum Does it makes sense just like in UNIB?
