qwerty Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 yes and no. turtling is a relatively safe option, the problem is that you can't really just sit there and hope for nu to do something stupid. because quite honestly, there isn't a single situation that she doesn't have an answer for. that, and you're not getting damage in for it; she is. this of course is where your prediction skills come in; if you can get her to guess wrong (like try to 5C you in fear of getting hit by a deep j.C) and punish her (do hotaru/tsubaki/empty jump and ib/whatever instead) then you have a tangible advantage that you're going to have to keep pressing. just remember though; nu has two bursts.

You have to be mindful of where she is most effective, then maneuver yourself between those ranges to keep her from taking full advantage. If you literally never attack and wait, then she can just mix you up all day, and eventually you will mess up. That doesn't mean you should just throw yourself into her swords though. You just have to wait for your opening.
Sophisticat Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Following yesterday's online tourney, I have a vid of my performance against Taoish. I think the only reason I did well against him is because I've come used to anticipating his drive-ins with 6a. Otherwise, his mix-up is hella scary, and had to resort to countering it. The part that glitches in the vid was a massive lag spike. I don't think anything too grand went on in there other than me landing two 6c CH's and missing a guaranteed combo because of said spike. I think I played well overall at least. Last thing, isn't Hotaru completely invincicible? I know I've hit others out of stuff plenty of times, but I've also been hit out of Hotaru tons, too. You'll notice in this vid Taoish does wakeup Berserker Barrage and hits me out of it. Anyway, please critique.

I'll take a look when I get back from work. Yeah, I don't think it's upper body invulnerability, otherwise you wouldn't be able to hit her out of it with gurren or 5C, and I've done it before... As for that hotaru... maybe it was just lag.

AND WHIFFED. Guess I was too close?

You don't need to rely on it to beat tao. You ate about 40% of your life from bad guesses with 5d. You have better options in those situations that are safer. He got you scared when he put pressure because everytime he took to the air you did not 6A. You could've went to 5A if you were afraid of whiff, it's safe and is better than just giving her free jumps. Stop taking purple throws. You can actually option select tech those so dont eat them. It's online. so I wouldn't worry too much bout the no blocking thing. I personally, do not like the 6C -> Shippu follow up after 5d. but that's just me.

Also use 6b for tao's pokes, she isn't too difficult and her damage output is shit compared to hakumen, so don't get scared :] Everyone else said what I would say.

You have my best wishes. @Blade: Yes, more 6a! I was able to match my 6a timing somewhat to Tao's, so it was working, but it's not something to just throw out. I'll take you up on the 6b, though. I never think about using its foot invuln. to my advantage.

And tao's love to tap you at your feet. They are the best to use 6b on, make then fear your foot :] Also ragna but it depends on the player my friend who sues him mostly goes for low attacks (he's been like that since gg) THERE'S NOTHING LIKE 6B WHY DO YOU THINK THERE'S A TSHIRT OF IT xD
