  1. Hello FGC community, I apologize if this is in the wrong thread. I'm SaxPlayaTJ on PSN so quite a few of you may have played me since BBCT. I used to main Litchi for a while but have been playing Tsubaki mostly as of late. I am very aware of my playing flaws overall but I want some feedback on a subject that's been baffling me. I am considering also that the effort in fighting games may come a bit more naturally to some than others-- I'm not sure if people consider that at all. I'm curious how high-level players with solid fundamentals think during a match. I'm an early professional composer (doing a lot of publication stuff) and faculty adjunct on his way to grad school (I took some time to startup a professional career) so I'm used to niche analyzing and really picking out details in regards to overall form regarding music, blah blah. However, I don't think my knowledge in fighting games match my practical knowledge when I play in matches. As a solid, experienced and even high-level player, how do you approach the cerebral game in a match? What do you prioritize to be most efficient? Are you very proactive, passive, or a mix? How do you think when they're losing and baffled, how do you think in neutral, how are you thinking in regards to your pressure habits, your opponent's habits, etc? Someone told me, whiff a grab on purpose and see if they try to grab back-- I haven't even considered something like that. Moreover, how much are you thinking? I used to think I wasn't contemplating these things enough but someone suggested that I may be over-thinking, hence why I sometimes play better when distracted. How general are things considered? I'm wondering if the correct approach is to only adapt to what i'm doing wrong and go, you could have done this here and move on. That seems basic, however I'm not sure how anyone gets to yomi level 3 that way. I've found myself stuck in Tsubaki's pressure strings since it's necessary to see how people are respecting you or not. I've been mostly addressing what I am doing wrong instead of what the opponent is trying to do to me. Now I'm thinking that I was way too focused on that and it's probably just a minor problem. I'm actually baffled how the TSB Uniel players get headway on their characters in 3 days. I assume you can only process so much so I wonder how the cerebral players approach these things. I often do really dumb stuff like wakeup DP on percentage (like on multiple choice trying to figure out which answer is due to be used soon) and find out that my opponent backed just out of range. Obviously, maybe I should watch and react more there. I guess for example: I'm recently playing a match against a solid Amane player. I go into it thinking: I'm not gonna jump in neutral, I'm going to chase him down on the ground and mirror his air movement, I'm gonna watch out for direction changes and keep up accordingly. Additionally, I'll try to mask my forward approaches and consider DPing if he's overhead. But typically, mid-match and I thinking about things as detailed as you have to show 5B (D) dash command grab. 5B>6B, you don't frame trap enough, specifically in realtime trying to figure out what's the best option (which I find not possible consistently), how I play off of 5C so it's not a predicable punish or a loss momentum. At one point, I've made a least of 25 strings. I literally wrote them down and tried to memorize them for easy mix and match. This didn't work too well. I got the idea from StormLocke's Robo-Ky tutorial and his 7 basic block strings which helped me get into the character. My Litchi in the past was very impromptu and was based on show something and vary it the second time. I played her mostly as a keep away character in neutral unlike what's probably her best gameplan. I find TS Sabin's netplay vids interesting because he has a likable habit of thinking aloud (self-commentary). Because of this, it gives some insight to what he's thinking about mid-match and how he's approaching things that the opponent is doing. I'm aware that I'm just throwing out a bunch of stuff. I haven't even mentioned how to get better at neutral, process it or practice it. I wonder if I've made fighting games more complicated then it should be or am I going about it wrong. MaC, give me your knowledge.
  2. Airk, did you get to play Dogura? I'm trying to figure out how to practice her in neutral? Tsubaki, I generally have trouble getting in and keeping momentum. I just feel like people aren't afraid of anything she does. I do miss her j. 236x variants because the C version I think made a nice crossup. I miss 22D unblockable and calling out other moves with 22x being perfectly spaces. I had to stop myself from doing it in the same situations.
  3. I feel you on that. There is so much you can do with the genre. You can have adjusted gameplay based on what happens, minor character skirmishes (even multiple characters) with limited movesets or even in Isuka or old school beat 'em up style. Well, there is just a lot that could be done, but I understand that it's a minor element of fighting games. I will say that many people really enjoy Injustice's and MK's single player game. Many people are playing P4U2 just because it's more Persona story of characters that they enjoy. I'm still waiting for some just-because hack job 2v2 or Isuka mode. I think more colors will be in the game-- seems like a given right?
  4. Wait, will rooms be able to mix and match and have multiple matches go on simultaneously, or just tournament style? Either way is pretty cool. Isuka mode would be hype. Heck, a Tekken Force or old school beat em 'up mode. (I had a vision of Ragna taking out hordes of NOL on his way to the cauldron). Hordes of Robo-Kys....
  5. Thanks. Pretty much my gameplan.
  6. Can't you download it off psn separately ahead of time or is it in game? The former might be my only option. Did I do that with Skullgirls or something?
  7. It's funny because he's the character I would want to play. Though I may not be down for the CS1 Litchi hate.
  8. Um, disrespect the mess out of Tsubaki. Tsubaki takes jabs in the face. People will straight up preemptive jab after 5B, 5BB, 2B because they know the overhead is coming. Dash grab? Jab or DP it. When she starts using frame traps, then you can do things differently. High level players can react to her overhead nearly every time. I thought people were just guessing my habits, so I started mixing in lows or 22x in the same strings to get counter-hits and they blocked them all. I'm mediocre but....don't respect her at all unless you need to.
  9. Seems I still need to work on my attitude in matches. I need to stop worrying about what they can do and just play with my prey in my own mind. I tend to be hesitant on my fancier pressure strings unless I'm assured they are locked down through momentum. It's weird. GGs to Ethereal_Albion. Didn't you play Hakumen in CT or CS? Perhaps another ethereal.
  10. I can be a pink now :P. I'm being stupid. It took me about a month to adjust to stick. I actually regretted buying it after a week or two thinking I made a bad investment. After a month I adapted. I think IADs are the hardest thing to do and then dashes, micro dashes. Playing Tsubaki still drives me nuts. Precise supers are weird. Itsuu like it's CT Litchi. Ah, those were the days when you could just 3c Itsuu C. Forcing the 2nd hit on block was too good though. I miss 4D kote too. I do it too much too sometime, or too early before it guard-points.
  11. I wonder what the entire game would look like without limited animation. The tech is really interesting. There is a lot of play on perspective. I see now why an in-game camera would not be mass suitable. Nevermind after that one vid.
  12. Thanks. Interesting I suppose. Well at least there is variety. At least no one expect three Rams when the game released. :P
  13. Is the Bridget Ruu playing May or is that a different "Ruu."
  14. Dang, I'll continue using Jin and Tsubaki vs. you. Well, I like CT and CS litchi more than this CP version. I can't play her the way I want to.
  15. Oh, Anime-Infiltration. I'm mad I never thought of doing that.
  16. it's all good; it's all fair game. I feel like a good player can adjust to anything so... For PAU I had right side as my default because few chose that. But I also played Labrys so.....
  17. She means two after dropping like 3-4+. Though what you say may apply if you count mains but I don't know their set. I was just in the online lobby playing someone else. Explains McShadow why I once lost two straight against you and got ggs. I am trying to adjust to people and matchups faster. I do eventually but after about 5, unless they are so much better. What the heck does the Bad Player List do?
  18. Perhaps it's not updated.
  19. The Arc Revo lineup is already interesting. Two Chipps, two bedmans, Konsome (Pot), and only 1 Sol/Faust.
  20. Good games to UltimateArcherX and that 32 game set. It was actually 16 to 16. Good games to Gilrandy. I wish I could have played just a few more. Good games to Venus_Litchi and bodying me with Kokonoe. I know nothing about that character. Sorry for the Litchi vs. Litchi mirror. I gotta bait Dps to make my Tsubaki vs. Litchi matches closer. I started getting mentally fatigued as I played and my hands aren't in good shape now. I have some intriguing full body pain issues that I'm waiting for a neurologist to still diagnose. Great play. Susano, good games. Lol I didn't play him at all today. I have before in a few player matches. I was gonna say, don't feed him; it's not that serious. It's not an argument that's gonna resolve itself. Solid Mu play. It's nice to see your vast improvement. On a side note, I have a very defensive oriented Jin play-style and I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. Sigh, bad habits work against lesser players so I need to be even more aware of those things.
  21. O_O what? you don't mean the 421D>214D version? Because woah?
  22. Have you tried Dping it on reaction? They may be a panic Litchi so perhaps you could bait it. I know my Litchi gets paranoid without her staff. It's kind've risky to j.D. Maybe preemptive double jump if they are committing to it early or hang back and get that charge. As Dusk said, j.D is a specific angle, takes forever to recover, four winds is down after landing. They just are getting you to block it by knowing when you'll be in that sweet spot. Worst case, if you don't block it. dj the four winds and dive to create space or something a like.
  23. What? I'm in Virginia Beach. This may be my first tourney.
  24. Is barrier-stoping dashes really sensitive? I'm being getting jabs recently and I'm wondering if I'm subconsciously plinking it. Sigh to rarely finding a connection above 2 even when wired.
  25. lol I am terrible. Bad habits are worse when you're 100% aware and still can't fix them 75% of the time. Good games to those I played. TD (Howling_Moon) etc. At least I got a fraud 9 win streak against another Tsubaki player (light blue). Honestly, he was doing a lot of things much better than me. I let him know. I have no idea how my Raw Jin is fairing better than Litchi. That's kind of sad.
