Thank god 5D is comboable now, that's going to make putting them in the corner a bit easier. He has plenty of tools to put them in the corner: grabs, hotaru, j.C, counters, etc. This just means we work harder for our wins, which shouldn't feel too foreign to us.
-
I'm allowed a noob question I think. What's a "catch"?
-
Exactly, it would have definitely helped a few situations that guy was in if he'd used Hotaru instead of mashed D. Why is it so hard to find good Haku's like these guys when there are Hazama's a plenty out there?
-
So far, under normal circumstances, I can't think of anything that will give you a combo mid-screen for just two stars unless you land a 5C. It's best to just wait for that extra star to come along and then launch them into the corner.
-
As far as we can tell, Hakumen is prolly gonna end up being around mid tier, but he's gonna have to work for his wins. There are some very nice players that have popped up recently if you check the vids thread. His BnB has changed to something like Renka (1) > Kishuu > 2C > etc.
-
Yeah, I noticed that too. I'm also seeing a disturbing lack of Hotaru. It's still a damn near un-punishable move and even if it doesn't have great pay-off midscreen, it'll put them that much closer to the corner. Chances are it's going to a FC anyways so you will get a combo off it.

Video posted by Sophisticat: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LSyddF3nT8 Haku vs. Platinum 5:15 Discuss. I saw one good combo in there from an air throw Air throw > f.j.2C > 5C > Renka (1) > Kishuu > 2C > j.A > jc > j.A > j.B > j.2A > j.C 3 stars for 3300+ damage
-
Urrgh... Where are the Hakumen regulars at?
-
It's possible the idea hasn't really "mainstreamed" yet, and that it's going to take a bit longer until all of his really efficient moves start coming out of the woodwork.
-
Yeah, Re4L14124c, the 2nd combo is corner only. 6C seems to prorate into some good damage, so that's probably the new thing we're gonna have to get used to doing.

I know one of my problems with hop specials is that when I'm prepping for a 214 motion, my stick will be pointed downwards more than forward, so make sure you are pointing forward with the stick when doing the hop specials. Challenge 10 for Haku really forced me to learn hop j.214B, give it a try sometime to polish your skills.

I also noticed in that vid that you can actually do a combo from FC Hotaru mid-screen. j.214B > land > air dash > j.2C > 2C > etc. I don't think it does a whole lot, but it's better than nothing at all. Also I saw this: 5C > 214B (1 hit) > 623A > 6C > 2C > j.2A > f.j.2C > 2C > j.2A > air dash > j.2A ----5573 damage. Unfortunately he didn't connect j.C at the end of it but that's nice for 3 stars.
-
That's not really a good combo to use in the first place, but to answer your question, but I can only see one problem with teching out before j.2C can connect and that's the height you are from the ground. If you are using Tsubaki too high in the combo they'll tech before you can hit them with j.2C. There's better things you can do with 3 stars though.
-
I think j.D is back to CT status isn't it? You just get a star and some damage and that's it.

Urgh, time to run more tests in training mode... thanks.

Fought OmniScythe recently, and I did pretty well but there was one part that stuck out in my mind. This happens to every Makoto I fight. I always have trouble punishing her DP, because she goes too high for 5C to hit, and I think by the time 2C comes out she right above me so it doesn't do anything to her. What punishes do you guys recommend for her DP? j.2A maybe?

I think another problem I have on this matchup, that I heard from Leonil is that Haku has the advantage due to his pokes being superior. Thing is, I hate just sitting back and poking people to death and it makes me feel like a jack ass. I'll try 6D'ing his 6Bs, but it's going to take practice. Even still, in slight lag counter on reaction is a nightmare.

Said there was an error when sending the message so I sent it again. Accidentally made two.

Ok, so I was fighting a friend of mine last night and all he did was abuse the four DPs Jin had. And most of the time I could punish them, but he used it in between my pressure, as we landed and just kind of at seemingly random times. I read above that I should learn the timing for his 6B, because he just abused that as well, only problem is that the timing is kind of wonky. Would like some advice as to how to deal with his DPs and what I should be doing for oki against him. It just became frustrating rather than fun to fight his DPs the entire fucking match, because at a certain distance some feel safe. Lag was also starting to spike at the end of it and I do horribly in lag, as does my morale.

If you're in the corner, then you should be pressure them to, at the very least, build up one more star to start a Renka corner combo. But you shouldn't be losing that many stars in the first place. What are you doing as far as pressure goes?
-
I don't think it's that Jin is stinkin' strong, I think it's more the fact that Jin hasn't changed THAT much, so people pretty much immediately know how to be effective with him. It is very possible that he's strong though, old j.B is pretty much back isn't it?
-
His 4C is cancelable now, which I fear that's all some Hakus will do is sit back, 4C > Gurren > Enma > etc. But I do like the option of being able to do so. Personally, I don't have a problem with new Haku. Small but easy damage midscreen, bomb-ass damage in the corner. I can live with that. Slide on j.214C and 6C on air hit looks so awesome btw.

You have the best gifs, Zidane.

Did Yukikaze get faster? Interesting stuff, nothing I we Hakus can't deal with. I suppose that change from his loketest about all of his C attacks being faster weren't true or changed?
