The New England Thread: Bears Warbling Outside My Igloo: A Polarizing Dilemma
Vyers replied to Zoob's topic in East Coast
We should do it. I can pick you up on the way no prob. I'll probably be back to begging Cheese for rides after this though. You know what's really relaxing? sitting in on a class you've already taken. No need to do assignments; no need to take notes unless you find them personally relevant; I sat in the corner and practiced Kanji the whole time. I don't even have to buy the book -

Well it'll be good to see you folks tomorrow. Honestly its been sometime since I've played fighters at all and even longer since I last played people besides Noisetank and Dave Chen. Looking forward to shaking off some Guilty rust, trying out Aquapazza, and playing more real people in Persona Fighter. Tales we need to do a History Repeating: Blue singalong -

I want to learn the game, but I'm still newbsauce, and don't have much time to practice. Really guys. Can you please stop dragging smut into the NE thread? Alright. Maybe I'll see you around at a tourney in the future? I don't feel like you should be apologizing. To me it looked like people jumped the gun; wrote you off as a scrug, and bashed you. -

No I'm at a new location in Amherst proper. and I'm moving to another new place in about 2 weeks. Awesome!! If we'd keep Katz from coming maybe I'll just drive down with Donnie this time? You'll find that most of the people coming are much nicer in person than they are on Dustloop. That's the problem with forums, its impossible to tell if people are joking or intentionally malicious unless you already know them (and even then it can be uncertain). It would be cool if you did come Jamie, but its your call whether or not to give us the benefit of the doubt and come meet us in real life. In either case I really do want to play you at some point edit: Why can you pm me directions? I don't think I've ever driven myself to your place. edity edit: Katz, Tales, since I'm going to casuals Saturday I think I'll pass on Friday button pressing, and spend the night studying -

I'm willing to try it out, but too broke to buy a copy. トウカ seems to have a move akin to tiger knee youzansen, so I'm interested in trying her out. Also how many spots are available in your car for this Saturday? I'd like to come, and I have a friend from school who's also interested in coming to a meetup at some point. My car is fixed, but my brokeness limits the amount of money I can spend on gas. Saphri is there any chance you can make it on Saturday??? edit: Welcome to the scene Archer. What games are you interested in learning/playing? -

Well we should definitely meet up sometime and play some GG, I still had a lot to learn when we first played, so I never got the opportunity to play you when I was any good (not to say I'm amazing by any means, I've plateaued at an intermediate tournament level). I'll be in the Amherst MA area shortly so I'll now be in range to go to CT. When school lets me have time. Do you remember a Vermont Testament player by the handle of Light_Nazgul? He was with me at NEC back then, but I think this was before either of us got to know Marlinpie/Shibuya/rest of CT/ NY. -

We'll see how I feel about the new Baiken after I play her. Yes we need to fucking play some GG:BA: Can we maybe as a whole tone down the crass humor in this thread? it's getting uncomfortably close to SRK. . . And can we not bash Saphri so hard? Saphri first you say you're new to fighting games, then you say you used to play GG, but have been out of the scene for four years? I started getting into tournament play/ online matchmaking about 5 years ago, and I'm one of the older members who's still (semi) active in the NE area. Unfortunately I have a piss poor memory when it comes to people (and everything else). I don't remember you as an admin. . . is your handle is different? I do recall a really good lady testament player who totally rocked me at my first NEC (think it was the first one after GGAC came out). Did you know MarlinPie/Kyohei? edit: Somehow skipped right over your post. If she is Jamie than she is the player I was thinking of, and I vouch for her skills. -

You mean how Baiken lost most of the functions that made her interesting, deep, challenging to use, and unique, in exchange for obscenely high damaging meterless combos? -

I'm heading back to Amherst this week and my car is also fixed, so I'll be able to attend a gathering sometime soon. I don't like how Baiken is looking in GGACR, I might play someone else I've been learning Elizabeth in Persona -

Can't say I'm surprised that the king of srk and evo advocates the 'bash anything that's not capcom' mentality. What about MVC2Magneto? didn't he have like, a 1-frame low and a 2-frame overhead? What about CE Bison, you blocked me now I pressure string you till you die from chip damage? IMO burst makes more sense. Push block greatly weakens oki, and makes characters without great - guaranteed methods of getting in and/ or Strong ranged game incredibly hard to play. Also most Capcom fighters (thankfully) don't have pushblock. This point is first off prejudiced, and secondly not valid, because street fighter has more animes than every "anime fighter" combined. Are there Ultra equivalents in this game? Either he's complaining about Persona Arena having Ultras which doesn't make sense since he loves SF4 to death, or he's complaining about the lack of them, which is stupid because Ultra's are one of the most unbalanced, unfair, spamtastic mechanics ever put into a fighting game. Your argument is full of holes so you ban the person who points it out, and then Ban the person who politely points out how childish it was to do so? He's just following the American Politics method of promoting a cause. Relentlessly bash the opposition, and out-shout everybody who disagrees with your opinion. -

I don't like steak whether its salty or not. Give Me Bacon:BA: Figured I'd break my lurking period. See how everyone's doing, and what people think of Persona Arena first week. (Sorry to hear about that hit and run OutlawVinegar:() -

I finally braced myself and pushed through the end of Heaven's Feel. You were right about its awesomeness Kyle. The sheer depth of Type Moon's characters, plot, and emotional pull astounds me. -

It was a good time; X9 is a pretty sweet hobby shop. Tales: I'm glad we agree that D&D 3.0/3.5 is nonsense. I have an itch to roleplay using a different system. Katz: Next time we meet there will be Gundam Johnny: You should go to casuals sometime. You'll get much better with experience against other players. Avengers: I want Swarma Moved back to NH. It's nice sleeping in a not slum room. -

Well, there's a big difference between situational infinites/100% damage combos filled with one-frame-links that you rarely ever see, and the commonplace infinites found in high-level MVC2 and Sengoku Basara Cross. I admit I didn't look at the video very closely. I didn't notice the second life bar underneath the skulls, so I assumed that most of the combos were 100% when in reality the majority did around 60%. -

Really? Well the combos in that video were mostly 100% damage. Even if every character is equally capable of doing so, it's pretty depressing to lose a round, because you got struck once. -

Ask around when Why posts up regarding the resumption of casuals, I'm sure you can get a lift from someone. Don't take a taxi. Looks broken as all fuck I can always scrub Voldo, maybe actually learn to play for reals. I like it I liiike it. -
