  1. Sorry I couldn't make it to this one guys, though it's cool that Asian Dave did (you should go to Illogical Dreamers next meet up if you're free man). I see MarlinPie took teams and singles as per usual. I'm guessing 'Team Bandit Revolver is the Future' was Cheese/Nazgul/????? Looks like Actress Again is really picking up steam here, but only 11 people for GGAC= And is that Ill Will I see in the SF4 results? Haven't seen that dude since TGA passed on. To the people going to FR: I just got raped by plane tickets cause I didn't want to borrow moneys and waited to damn long. I'm broke, but I'm still going. let's rep NE!!!!!!!! edit: Good to see you made it to ACT Stryfe. I haven't seen you at any tourneys/meet ups for a while. Are you still sticking with pad, or are you giving stick another chance?
  2. Yeah Zidane has a beastly Anji.
  3. I'll limit my comments to just the Potemkin matchup since you know way more about fighting HOS than me. I noticed you used a lot of mashy j.p (j.p 3 or so times in a row) in air combos/ dustloop against Potemkin. You can usually connect with j.spsd or j.pspsd in the situations you were doing that (the combo you did around 0:14 for example). Tatami loses to hammerfall and 6P. Slashbacked and (I think) IB'd tatami can be potemkin bustered if you don't frc the tatami. Use more j.s and j.d on Potemkin. j.s beats heavenly potemkin buster (might need to be meaty. it works when jumping backward at close range like you did at 1:17), and also beats hammer fall if you gatling to j.d; it loses to 6p and Judge gauntlet. j.d at long range clashes with Pot's 6p and will keep you out of range of Judge Gauntlet's released attack.
  4. We should do a team tourney for Guilty Gear
  5. You must have a dexterity of 18. I have a dexterity of 7; I've gotten to the point I'm at now by putting all my skill points into Use Arcade Emulation Device (which is a cross class skill for my class: Sandwich Artist). Edit: For my feats I took skill focus: Use Arcade Emulation Device, and Disciple of Yomi (Which gives me a permanent +2 bonus for mind game checks, in fighting games.).
  6. Most people I've met learned stick in one or two months I'm an extreme example
  7. Would you mean getting together at the convention, or somewhere nearby? Either way I'd be up for a gathering of some sort. Learning stick is brutal when you've been playing pad all your life, but everything is easier to execute once you adjust (especially frcs). It took me over 4 months of practicing almost every day to get to the point where I could play better on stick than on pad, but it was sooo worth it when I did. It's easiest to learn if you quit pad cold turkey.
  8. Well I woke up today to find out that nearly all of NH is out of power, and Newington Walmart is closed for the first time since I started working at Subway. Gives me a chance to catch up on homework I guess. Nazgul told me you went by Faded Sun on the TGA forums? If so I remember seeing you at a couple ranbats. At the time I only knew basic bnb's; I was just learning how to TK Youzansen. I don't recall actually beating you, but if I did it was just due to luck. I had no mirror experience at the time, so I was definitely playing randomly trying to figure out what to do on the spot when I played you. If you'd like I could pm you my number plus the people I know in Boston. They'd both be up to play some matches in GGAC and other games.
  9. Wish I could have made it to your meet up Illogicaldreamr. Boston GG scene has been dead for ages; this revival is a good thing. It would have been very cool to see some other Baikens in action and get some mirror experience. Unfortunately school fulltime plus work fulltime= RIP free time:vbang: I'd like to make it to the next Boston gathering if possible. I will be coming in April for Anime Boston, and in August for MacArthur Blunt's money.
  10. It's pretty damn expensive for a con. The rates went up to $45 for a weekend pass (It goes up to $50 if you register after March 11th for mail in order/ March 25th for credit card) The last time I went I think it was like $30 or $35 for the whole weekend:( The Friday tournament is free to enter and will probably give out anime volumes as prizes. The Saturday tourney is $10 to enter and is doing the 70/20/10 pot split. (Also they strangely want to use Japanese Accent Core Plus which isn't arcade perfect. I'm gonna try to convince them to switch to American Accent Core.) You should check and see if your school has an anime club; Mass Art's anime club gets its members free entry to Anime Boston every year. If you want to go one day Saturday will have the most going on (including one of the GGAC tourneys, The Masquerade, and probably Nobuo Uematsu's concert). I think the single day rate is $30
  11. I hope you guys going to the Allston meetup have a good time. It's cool to see that Boston will have a scene again. Maybe I'll see some of you at Anime Boston? They're running 2 GGAC tourneys this year.
  12. Dudley just leveled up his manliness with that Dempsey Roll
  13. Thanks guys, you've given me a lot of ways to strengthen my game. I'll try to put your advice to good use; hopefully you'll see some improvement in the next match vids I post.
  14. Yo Shibuya let us know in the NE thread if you'd like to room with us.
  15. @ tolore: Yeah I shouldn't be using Suzuran so much against HOS and in general. I've been trying to run in FD cancel block to gain ground instead, but I find Suzuran to tempting sometimes because you can block multiple hits and usually get closer in. It's almost like learning not to reversal super or throw on wake up; it's easier then trying to guess and block a mix-up, but leaves you open longer and is easy to punish. Regarding Gunblaze: I try to block Gunblaze crouching, because if you crouch it doesn't cross you up; you can guard either direction. However if you crouch and FD it does cross you up as he passes you which makes you automatically drop the FD and take the hit. I automatically FD most specials/overdrives to avoid chip damage; I know I shouldn't against Gunblaze, but it hasn't translated to my muscle memory yet. I didn't know HOS can use Gunblaze as an antiair. I'll try to be more careful jumping in on him in the future. You're very right about not bursting Gunblaze; I'll work on that as well. I don't usually do IAD tatami for oki on far opponents, because I still can't quite do it consistently, especially on the right side of the screen. When I screw up IAD tatami I either get IAD j.k (which does nothing, but get me close to them, maybe leaving enough time for a mix up before they stand), or jumping tatami (which fails to close the distance with the opponent or recover quickly enough to do anything else). I'll try to get in the habit of using IAD tatami for oki once I can do it more consistently. @ Rinse-n-Repeat: Yes MarlinPie was using Savage Fang in ways I didn't expect, as a counter to my pokes, and to chip me to death during a Suzuran run. I need to watch his meter more carefully. Tick throws are the bane of many Baiken players, myself included. I especially have trouble with May's jump in meaty j.h tick. Sometimes I accidentally throw out a counter when it's too risky. When this happens I often assume I'm about to be punished and start looking for my chance to burst or tech out of the coming combo, this time I actually got the counter hit, and was too late to follow it up because I wasn't expecting it. Thanks both of you for your comments and suggestions so far. I might have some more match vids after Final Round next month.
  16. So I finally have some matches recorded. (The videos are low quality so it might be hard to make stuff out): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axakmU813Eo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0pvUzOKwZw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbDyFup60nE I would appreciate any advice/constructive criticism.
  17. I don't think I'll have enough money ahead of time to get my own room (If we even need 2) so I'd like to share room if that's cool. To bad man:( Anyone else interested in Final Round post up.
  18. I don't think I can make it this time. I can't ask for more time off that month, but if I'm not scheduled to work that day I'll be there.
  19. Thanks for uploading those. Sorry to hear about your car man:(
  20. We'd probably be up for rooming with you guys; although depending on how many people want to come we may need more than 1 room. I was planning on arriving Friday night and leaving Monday morning, because I don't want to choose between missing my flight and leaving the tournament if GGAC runs really late. (it was originally Saturday, but got moved to Sunday)
  21. Final Round XIII is a month away. It's about time we figure out the travel/room situation. I'm going for sure, as is Nazgul. Mindgam3 expressed interest a few months ago. Other then that I'm not sure who is planning or thinking about going. If you are at all interested in attending Final Round, which in my opinion is the best tournament in the states for GGAC, post up.
  22. Uconn was good times. I will (hopefully) be back next year Vierge: Kudos on spending way to much time working the front desk and running various events. I didn't realize you were cosplaying Yuki the Uconn mascot until Saturday afternoon, it was well done. Mindgam3: Thanks for running the tournaments, and letting me crash for the night. Those double doors with the dividers were complete bullshit, and whoever is responsible should die in a fire. Use more teleports in your okizeme. Chrono Trigger is too good. I'll see you at Anime Boston. Fraga: Thanks for running the brackets, and entertaining me with real life Final Atomic Buster, and broken Mugen characters. William/ That May player whose name I kept forgetting: My memory is made of fail:vbang: I will endure to recall yours when next we meet. Good Shit in GGAC our match was insanely close that last round could have gone either way. You're better than you give yourself credit for. All you really need is dolphin loop, and you'll have a scary May. Nazgul: I finally beat you after losing the last several matches we've had. Thanks for recording my match against MarlinPie, I'm sorry I couldn't keep my hands steady while I was recording yours (to tired to keep them still). I hope my tech mix up lesson will be of use to you. MarlinPie: You definitely went easy on me our first match. I barely pulled one win off you during the grand finals. It was a blast to meet you there; I've never had the honor. The only thing I can say in my defense is I don't know how to fight Venom (not that that really matters since you already had 5 wins against me at that point). Still I was taking rounds here and there and many of the ones I lost were close; so I feel that I've gotten closer to your level. Hopefully you can make it out to Final Round, I would consider driving with you if I could take an extra two days off. blueNINE: Finish your stick so you stop accidentally SJing. Zoob: You should do a youtube video of your Slayer Impersonations, I nearly died of laughter.
  23. Finally made it to a fight night, it was cool to finally try out Actress Again. Good games in GGAC/MBAC, I need to mod my other PS2 and grab a copy of that. PH33R/Mike/: Sorry I didn't recognize you; my memory is bottom tier:vbang: Fraga: Thanks for the tips with White L/Ren. Nazgul: thanks for recording matches. To the people going to Animeboston and/or Final Round I'll see you there! edit: I don't bring outside food/drinks to Battle Grounds, I'll try to keep an eye out for those that do.
  24. Well, I'm heading out now, probably won't arrive at UConn till 2:00 since I'm leaving later than planned. I'll see everyone at UConn (Battlegrounds tonight)
  25. Try calling again
