  1. I'm not sure if I'll have a travel savvy car available by the 17th; would a fellow member of team NH be able to give me a lift? (will supply gas money of course.) hopefully something will come through for you man. Apprentice yourself to the Knights of Low Tier Domination; for they can teach you the ability to nullify tier charts.
  2. Wish I could could make it to the meet up today, I got double owned by work/family stuff (thanks to both openers quitting out of the blue, I've been getting up at 5am to open:vbang:) It's not really that hard to learn compared to other games. Yes Guilty Gear's complicated, but at least the timing barrier isn't as harsh as Street fighter four (fucking links). I wish throwing made sense in SSF4 (command grabs are a bitch to deal with). . .I still play it (badly) cause Cody's fun.
  3. I want to go go, but I just found out I'm getting 1/4 the financial aid money I had last year, for school, and I need to get another car soon. So I'm in Kona's boat for now.
  4. Angry video game nerd did a video on this for new years.
  5. I'll bring a setup for GGAC and for SSF4
  6. Oh well, we'll see you at Summer Jam. Sweet, the golden land of low tier dominators sends forth it's knights Cool I've yet to play CS, I need to see if Tsubaki is fun.
  7. I'll be there. If I haven't figured out my car situation by then I'll bum a ride off of somebody.
  8. Wait, is this a fighting game based off the Tri Ace rpg series?
  9. Once BBCS comes out there should be a jump in players. I'll try to make it down sometime, I have no transportation at the moment cause my car is on it's last legs. Yes, but Guilty Gear's pre HD graphics and esoteric gameplay scare the new kids away.
  10. Despite the long wait times and the frequent DQ's in GGAC, I had a great time at ECT2. So I wanted to say thanks to Sweet Johnny cage, and his assistants/staff for running it (and thanks especially for holding a GGAC tourney). I do have some suggestions that I feel would help ECT3 run more smoothly I think the decision to break the SSF4 bracket into 8 pools was wise, but the way it was implemented was frustrating. Calling out the players in each pool one by one, and one seed at a time, meant that some players had to wait over 4 hours just to learn what seed they were in (and avoid getting DQ'd). EVO's pool system works so efficiently because they only allow preregistered players to participate, they inform every player what pool(s) they are in before the event, and they let everyone know the schedule for each game/pool either before the event or at the start of it. Assuming that you don't want to make preregistration mandatory (EVO's the only tourney I know of that does), there are a few other ways to run the pools more efficiently. The first would be seeding and sorting out the pools of preregistered players beforehand, and implementing a system for players to find their pool(s) before the tourney. Players that register at the door could be placed in filler positions in pools (leave a few spaces empty in each pool), or if there are too many for that to work, extra pools set aside for walk-in players. (You'd probably need a website for preregistration with a login system to make this work). My second suggestion is to print out several copies of each pool as soon as they are complete (along with their starting time), and tape them to the wall near the registration center as well as by each individual pool's section/setups. By doing this, people will be able to check on their pools as soon as they're created, instead of waiting hours for their name to be called. It would also help to have a master list of all the players by game and seed on a laptop by the registration desk, so players can ask the staff to look up what pool(s) they're in. If you do hold GGAC next year (which I really hope you do), is there anyway you could let someone from the Dustloop community run it? The guy running it this time didn't know many of the players, which made it more difficult for him to track people down. He was also in a different tournament (3rd Strike I think?), and he kept leaving to play matches in that. There were no other staff available to run the bracket while he was away, which slowed down the tournament significantly. Often times he'd call out a player for a match, another player would go looking for the first player, they would come back only to find the bracket runner had vanished, and then the first player (who may not even know who he's up against) would get called up in SSF4 or MBAC while waiting for their opponent to arrive/waiting for the bracket runner to get back to report the winner/ waiting for an open setup. St1ckBuG (Alan) has a lot of experience running tourneys. He ran the brackets for GGAC singles at last years NEC, and, if he is willing to, he would do an excellent job running them at ECT3. If he can't there are others including: Mindgam3, HNH, and myself who have experience running tournaments that could do this. A member of our own community would know most of the players involved, know people from most regions they can ask to track down a player from their scene who is up in a match, and know other trustworthy players who can run the bracket when the runner is up in a match, in the bathroom, etc.
  11. Sounds good to me I'm not going to evo anyway (no Guilty Gear = FAIL) I'd say mix and match so we can do Garou and Waku Waku 7, but chances are I won't be able to go anyway so ?
  12. They don't seem to have any GGAC vids at all, unfortunately. I'd like to go. I should be able to get work off for this, but I also need to go to Boston that month to beat up MacArthur Blunts (I doubt traveling to both will be a problem); I'd also need to find a way down there, since my car's on deaths row, as I learned just before ECT. Speaking of ECT, I think it's a bad idea to boycott it. Yes It was ridiculous that 5 people got DQ'd, but if we can convince Sweet Johnny Cage to let us elect someone from our own community to run Guilty Gear (Say St1ickBuG, MindGam3, me if we can't find anyone else), then that won't be an issue, and Guilty NEEDS all the tourneys it can get. I high five you and the remaining half of New Jersey who adopted Wily FACE avatar, that scene was godlike. (The movie brings forth the mega nerd from within)
  13. Are there any vids of the grand finals floating around? (haven't found any as yet). XAQ was godlike this whole tourney
  14. Wow 5 people got DQ'd? I knew about Sorrow (who I found just to late), and Sogos (don't know why he didn't get to play since he came by before grand finals and after XAQ vs A3 which was losers semis). Next year can we have someone from the dustloop community run GGAC? Saturday being just Street Fighter 4 was not fun. Casuals/ Sunday tournament were fun. ShoutOuts XAQshinor: good games. congrats on first. Your Dizzy is monstrous. Tinshi: VENGENCE! but in all seriousness that could have gone either way, your May is still tight. Sorrow (forgive me if I got your name wrong: Nice Bridget. I need to learn this matchup properly. good shit beating me, and I'm sorry I didn't find you until right after you got DQ'd. Nuclear Cheese: Good shit beating Spooky in Melty. Work on defense tactics. You brought extra hype to GG and it needs all the hype it can get. A3Religion: Playing you is as frustrating as ever, I need to work on my execution as usual. . .Good luck at EVO man. Drunken Chicken: Your Faust has LEVELED UP:keke: DoomieJ: I challenge you to a $5 drunken GG match, next major we both go to. Zidane: ? You were beasting in casuals man, why didn't you enter the tourney? (I will find that megaman movie. I must see Wily's face) All of New York: You guys are hype incarnate. Everyone who entered GGAC: good shit; keep playing, keep showing going to tourneys, and we will keep this game alive.
  15. I'll ask Nazgul to bring his CRT. That way we can have a setup going in each room.
  16. ECT update: I extended my hotel reservation so it's now good for Friday Saturday and Sunday. We need another room though (we have about 9 people coming), and I don't have the money to put down on a second room. So if anyone has enough cash to book a room, it would give us all some breathing room. ASAP people, there aren't many rooms left People coming: Vyers, Nazgul, Max, Mindgam3, Danny Schme, the other dude riding with Mindgam3, Zorin, blueNINE. Maybes: Aria, Kona, other peoples traveling with Zorin?
  17. I stab him in the gut and kick him off my blade:BA: yes
  18. You missed me Nick; I'll enter GGAC and SSF4. Originally I was also going to enter MBAA, but I've had like zero practice in that game so I'm going to pass it up. Vyers - NH
  19. Whishu, Baiken's dropped all the way from S to C? Damn, I never thought she was S but C's a hard sell; I wonder what the reasoning is behind this? It looks like Millia stole A tier from the old A characters to keep for herself. Old A kicked B into C tier (along with Baiken) so they could have B tier. Anji/ I-no hopped out of D tier leaving Johnny and Bridget in the dust. . . edit: Maybe people will stop complaining that I play Baiken now?
  20. I miss you guys, One of these days I'll make it back to fight night and Baku/ Bingo Punch everyone to death. You should all buy 3d Dot Game Heroes May 11th: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoFYEtj2tDw
  21. Alright I've yet to book a room for ECT, but I'll do that tonight. To Everyone interested in traveling with me, I just want to want to let you know that I'll most likely be driving down late Friday night, so sleep might be an issue; I'll be coming back Monday. Kona I sent you a pm with more details. How's everybody feel about SSF4? I like it ten times better than vanilla SF4 just for having Cody in it, I'm totally going to main him (I want his alternate outfight, but I can't buy it cause I've forgotten my PSN password:() I finally have moneys for the buttons and stuff I need to fix up my stick. Until they arrive I'm playing SSF4 online with a stick that occcasionally drops diagonal inputs, and a MK button that doesn't work half the time:yaaay: Edit: Alright just reserved a room for Sat/Sunday. It's about $102 a night with tax factored in.
  22. So $5 FT3? If we get enough people for the 5v5 I'm up for it. Maybe we can 5v5 NY as well? also anyone else up for a MM?
  23. So A3's going to ECT which means I'll be going there instead of NY (I might still go sometime this summer). I'll most likely be driving down late Friday night, probably taking Nazgul with me. Mindgam3/ blueNINE/ Kona/ others, you guys interested in going?
  24. Well, it looks like I can only get one weekend off this month:( so I'll be going to ECT. I'll try to get down to NY sometime this summer.
  25. Just requested time off so I'm confirmed. Anyone up for MMs in GGAC? A3religion, XAQShinor, other NY players?
