  1. I dunno about boring, I'm trying to get a decent sub, I usually switch between the two at meetups and online. Going to tournaments is also good to keep you interested, you want to practice up for it, and you're pretty hyped afterwards. I'm most likely going to ECT in June, anyone else?
  2. Depends how they're disrespecting. You can do j.2c 2b 214d if there's a stein on them, catches people who mash too hard. Else there's also j.2c j.5[d] land 2b, if they roll you catch them, if they don't it whiffs and you can jump out and wait for the laser to fire to go back in or punish their stuff. If you end with jump back j.c j.2c you can add 3c 5d 214d, catches rolls and most buttons, but loses to sledge I think. There's also j.2c j.5[d]xx j.236a which keeps you in the air a good amount of time, but it really loses to sledge. I dunno, the airthrow tech never felt as strong as the other options for me.
  3. Yeah, bad timing, next time. I happen to have a second copy of BB that isn't mine, is anyone missing theirs? I was sure it was Brice's but he says it isn't his. It was in a console one day when I left foonzo at 1 am one day last week.
  4. Hm new throw combo is nice, sad it doesnt leave a stein on the opponent for guardcrush So after some testing, I really can't find a way to get 3c laser combos to break 4k meterless when you have the other options available. Here's what I found, by far the most reliable and damaging is just dash 5c SoD, the trick is not to dash too early after SoD for 6b to juggle correctly. from starting positions gc dash 5d 214d dash 6b 5c 6c sod 6a j.2c j.d 2b 5c 2c j.2c (4061) gc dash 5d 214d dash 6b 5c 6c sod high mid loops (4417) gc dash 4d 6c dash 214d 6b (2) 5c SoD midloop (4035) gc dash SoD (4) dashhhhhh 2b high mid lowloop (4733) gc dashhhhh 5c SoD 6a 6b high mid low loops (5287) too far from corner, but not close enough to just jump over 5c SoD gc 6d 236d dash 3c j.b j.c :j.2c 2b 6a 6c habacan 2b 5c 6c 5d 214d 6c 5d SoD (3242, 48 heat, maybe a bit of swag?) gc 5d 214d 6b dash 5c 2c j.c j.2c 2b 5c 6c 5d SoD (3647, 39 heat) gc 4d 6c 214d dash 6b dash 5c 2c j.c j.2c 2b 5c 6c 5d SoD (3943, 43 heat, less stable) Might as well post these new setups, I've been using them for a bit of time now and they're pretty good after midscreen 6c... 5[d] 236a dash 6d 236d. lots of blockstun, lasers combo, 236a combos into ]d[ on some jumpouts, so more time to set up anyways. corner, after a midloop, (j.2c) j.5[d]xxj.236a small dash 2b 5[d]xx SoD (3) small dash 2b 5d 214d. Not that much riskier than other setups, but meterless 4-5 primers.
  5. C0R had come up with a 6d 236d 3c ]d[ kind of combo. I had actually completely forgotten about it. Time to hit the lab. And wow yeah that hitbox change explains why crossups are more effective now :O I didn't know it went that high though, time to try it as air to air when under the opponent.
  6. wat. I said the complete opposite, guess I wasn't clear. Ragna needs to be really aggressive, you need to be patient and either punish him for doing dumb stuff or waiting for him to cool down a bit to go in on him, whatever happens first.
  7. Nah, not worth the risk reward versus ragna, it's kind of hard to space him right. You have to be really aggressive when playing Ragna vs Mu, so players with good spacing are going to play like that too. Run away without pressing ANY buttons and avoiding to corner yourself, until either you gain enough space to safely set out 236a, or they start getting reckless (jump back j.c them, or anti air). Air DP is good at calming people down too if you're feeling confident and know the range well. Once you've got a 236a out at the right position, you can start slowly setting up steins, go for command laser, bait inferno divider, play safe, do your best to confirm combos off any laser hits, and set up steins in a way to make this easier. (for example patterns like 5d 236a 66d 236d make it pretty easy to confirm a laser air hit into a full combo) Only go for mixup once you feel they've realized they should start blocking. If they get too close just block and look out for 6b, barrier/backdash/jump back/dp/counterassault/smart mash2a/or just keep normal blocking are your options (IB what you can obv), make sure you use at least a bit of each so it becomes harder for your opponent to keep the pressure going.
  8. I'd say the majority of the hits you get are either from spacing long range normals like 5c or j.c, or from mixup with 2b, 6b, or throw. 2a is good but don't rely on it like it's marvel, combo scaling is different in this game and rewards better starters a lot more.
  9. blocking the opposite coast is futile, mash more air dp! GGs zeromus, stayfree, cmsora, ggj, xntricat, gigaitachi, and anyone else I played but forgot.
  10. You guys should try canadian beer. especially Trois Pistoles. No, actually, you guys should come to our tournament next year in montreal and have some with us.
  11. Yup, fuck lag, doesn't allow me to feel satisfied when I win, and just a bit more salty when I lose. Anyways, still had fun, GGs guys.
  12. I prefer confirming 6C FC into 6a 6b, the dash after the stein is too easy to screw up IMO. I just use it if I happen to get a FC and already cancelled into a stein. Here's the combo I'm talking about : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoCLTItUeyM#t=14m43
  13. We went last year. It's closer.
  14. 6b sod 6a 5c 2c j.c j.2c j.:5d 2b 5c 2c j.2c is pretty consistent, and a better overhead combo than triple j.2c. in other cases ...sod 6a 6b 5c 2c neutral jump j.c j.2c :j.5d... makes it more consistent. The setup I posted beats most 2a mashing and has really ambiguous blockstun and frametraps due to lasers. More often than not I'll catch a few jump out attempts. I'm trying to get one that is DP safe at the beginning (like having a 236a on them right off the bat).
  15. ...or you could do j.6[d] 2a 6b ]d[ 6b rc 2b... the two 6Bs being gapless or almost depending on the timing... 6b RC 2b doesn't mean you can't use lasers. I've kinda overused 6b rc 2b lol, I need to mix it up with 6b (1) RC 6b if I want to hit the local guys now. On the other had, guard crush is... unblockable http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agk5UuSUlr8#t=10m4s I do this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoCLTItUeyM#t=5m28m recently I've been experimenting with 6c 5d DP enders, weird situation occurs. You might want to watch the whole video at some point lol. It's missing a few character specific 2b 6a 6c 5d 214d 6c enders, and the new highloop :j.5d instead of j.6d that I only learned of after recording. 6c combos aren't the best either, but yeah rest should be optimal or at least practical.
  16. haven't found anything better yet http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoCLTItUeyM#t=10m45 I'm sticking to ground oki lately, mostly j.2c j.5[d] xx j.236a into charge lasers xN/guard crush (or I end up not holding [d] long enough, so something fails and the other guy gets out ).
  17. Sakuma/Keba definitely. iirc Enjoize moves around pretty well too.
  18. Post any feedback please. I think although there were a few major screw ups, the event was good enough for us to run another one like this eventually, and we want to make sure everything goes even better. me : "I need biscuits and level5 on deck for the stream" nini : "biscuits is at the strip club, I'll go get him" me : "ok then I need yucorp and zeero" nini leaves. start looking for yucorp. see biscuits playing GG. I'll post actual shoutouts and apologies soon.
  19. yo I went 4-1 (finished top 16). I was running the brackets and the event as a whole running around finding people etc. so I just surrendered my match vs Brice because he more likely would have beaten me but the match would have been way too long. All my other matches I was just rushing in, doing way more DPs, mashing, and bursts than I usually do trying to end that shit as fast as possible so I could get back to running the event. Beat a few guys, then played our local tao with who I usually go even. Last match third round no more bursts, I'm down to no HP, get a random hit, somehow confirm, but derp'd that set winning combo, couldn't even remember the starter, did like ...j.2c 2b 5c 6c 5d SoD "oh shit I'm close enough to the corner I can end this with 5b 2c j.c j.2c 3c Super" dash 5b ]d[ 2c whiffs get hit by 2A tech mash out of the recovery, lose set. I dunno how I wasn't salty, just a bit sad, but yeah, running a 44 man bracket and entering it wasn't the best idea. Kinda disappointed I barely played at all, couldn't show off all dat new tech. [/blog] anyways, go to your local tournaments, support the scene, and have a blast.
  20. Going to start setting up around 10 AM. Please help out if you can. Call/text me at 514 371 0501 if you have any questions, but I won't answer if I'm driving. Should be ready to open doors and have casuals starting around 11 AM. BB signups should be around 1:30 PM, we're hoping to start the tournament between 2-2:30 PM. Gundam and KoF will start after Blazblue starts, when we'll feel ready for them, so I guess around 3 PM. AH3/Melty/F-Zero/GG/Skullgirls/anything else will start afterwards, as we go with the flow, so I guess at the earliest 4 PM and onwards. Venue specific rules reminder : You are not allowed to bring any alcohol from the outside into the venue, they sell some on site, this has to do with the license. No outside food is to be eaten at the venue, you will be asked to leave immediately. We WILL be checking all bags at the entrance as people come in and out to make sure these rules are respected. note : this schedule is pretty rough and fraudulent. this is our first solo event, so things will most likely not go according to plan and I apologize ahead of time.
  21. Can anyone bring Xbox copies of CSEX? There are 4 xbox-arcade cab head to head setups at foonzo that we could use for casuals, but almost everyone in our scene only has a ps3 copy. Worst case it doesn't matter, they have skullgirls.
  22. stop hitting your opponent with so many 2As once you hit them, it's bad for the resulting combo. you should probably learn better combos too, either check out the in game challenge mode, or you can check this video to see what's commonly used http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoCLTItUeyM your opponents are probably beginners looked like they hadn't figured out the game very well yet. once you're able to land the actual combos into knockdowns, you'll be better prepared to fight people who are actually decent players, and when you start fighting stronger opponents, you'll be able to improve a lot.
  23. I've heard good things about this place called "Kazu" it's kind of close to foonzo, but I've never been personally.
  24. Oh shit you're that bang from NEC I think. We'll do our best to make it so hype people will want to make the trip no matter the distance for the next one :D Also, probably going to stream random stuff on friday evening.
  25. Yes, at least a few of us should be there. Since I'll be using public transit on friday I might as well beerblue.
