PSN - Danisen League Battle #5 - Friday, June 29th [COMPLETED]
Psykotik replied to zeth07's topic in BlazBlue Online Play
I can make this one so put me down on the list (playing Carl) and make the time 7PM PST. I would also like to make an announcement regarding the West Danisen. I'll be away from July 10th to August 10th so I will be unable to host any danisens during that time period. If there is no one willing to host any sessions that might happen then there will be no Danisen ranbats during that time. I will be moving from the West Coast for school next year and as such, I will not be running any West Danisen sessions after August 30th. Try as I might to plan these sessions, I doubt that running an event that has a 3 time zone difference from where I will be living will work out for me. As such, if these sessions are to continue, the West group is going to need a new semi-permanent host. I'd like to thank all of those who participated in the west group and all those who helped me keep track of ranks and such. I hope that you guys will continue to play in these sessions. -
So there are people who play it. Good to know. Are you gonna pick up P4A?
-
Oh yeah, I'm pretty stoked about it. I can finally play offline against other people again haha. How good's the FG scene at Waterloo anyways? Apparently you guys play Melty, please tell me that you do.
-
GGs to CMSORA. Sorry about my connection, it's been wonky for the past few days. I'll be playing Aigis.
-
I do this as well but I can get it to work 100% of the time. The trick is to put in a slight delay between j.B and j.C (assuming that you're doing a j.C after the j.B). That way, the 2D will hit before the opponent hits the ground from j.C.
-
TBH, doing it on neutral tech is a bit iffy since they have the option of rolling out. Doing it off the gear super is definitely legit though. Anyone know the max damage off one of these UBs?
-
I'm there for Math/Actuarial Science next year. Guess I'll be seeing you around then.
-
If you even suspect that he's going to do it, backdash to 360 punishes it. It's one of the reasons why I don't IAD j.2C against (good) Tagers too often. BTW, do you go to UW?

PSN - Danisen League Battle #3 - Friday, June 1st - [COMPLETED]

Aw man, I so want a chibi Carl by my name in the rankings D: Guess that gives me more reason to shoot for 5th Dan. I'll try my best to try to host the next one as well but there's a fair chance that I can't make it (school finals + Father's day weekend). Again, we'll see what happens but until then, if there's anyone willing to be a back-up host for that session, please let me know. -

Thanks to all for playing. Spread the word about the Danisen, I'm sure there's more WC couch warriors who'd be willing to join this. Thanks to NorseFTX for hosting the other room and keeping score. On another note, Zeth, did your playing ever get worse on the nights that you ran these Danisens? I dunno why but my playing seems to be even sloppier than usual whenever I'm running these... -

If you still plan on participating today, could you post up your PSN when you can? It'll make things easier for me when it comes to inviting people to chat rooms/player rooms and stuff. Sign-ups will still be taken up to ~6:45 PST. For everyone else who's already signed up, you know the drill; get on early, I'll assign rooms, body others/get bodied. See you all in an hour and a half. -
[CS2-CSE] Carl Clover General Discussion - Shota Shorts Edition
Psykotik replied to Rishtopher's topic in Archive
If you do it during certain combo segments (ie. Jin's DP loop, Hazama's 623D), they can't tech it since they'll get throw countered. Even then, anima's not your only option as brio and fuoco (careful with that one...) can also work. IMO, the most balanced way to buff Anima is to give it real superarmor but I'll also happily take an untechable anima. -

Not at all. I do that all the time. -

I find Anima surprisingly useful against Hakumen if not slightly gimmicky. One Anima setup that you could try is to do the standard DP-safe UB setup but instead of j.AA, jB+3D, just do j.AA, Anima for a D counter bait. Granted, I haven't tried this out in an actual match yet but I'm sure it'll get a lot of people. -
You don't have to be that far to punish, just stay behind about one dash length and you're good. If the Ragna is really going to resort to ID/GH/HF to try to beat out that punish, just bait by moving in. IAD isn't the only way to get in btw, Carl's jet jump also works for this purpose. My point is even if you don't get an outright punish, if you can even make him block, which Ada behind you no less, then that Ragna just lost any momentum he may have had and it's in your favour from then on. Ragna might be able to get away from eating 6k but he's lost all offensive/neutral momentum he's had at that point. Just for that reason, 5D is far from an optimal option for hitting Ada.

Ryuusei on netplay? That would've been interesting to watch. What's his PSN/XBL? -

You forgot to add GGJ on the list, Zeth -
Akira, if anything, you're the one who's misunderstanding them. Of course they know that you'd use 5D in a string against Ada and not just throw one out randomly. With that out of the way, I'm going to have to take the Rags players' side on this and say that 5D is far from a good option. Yes, it's hard to stop that move and yes, it hurts Ada but Rags can't do much after the 5D. Dash cancel? Best case scenario, he'll be safe but he can't really continue pressure as long as Carl is close enough to intervene. Dead spike? Same as the dash cancel. Hell's fang? He's asking you to hurt him. Wait out the recovery of 5D? That's more than enough time for Carl to get in.

1) Generally, you want to hit them with j.2C fairly low to the ground. One thing that might help is that when you hit with 2D, position yourself to where you're supposed to hit them and then do a jump as your opponent reaches the apex of their bounce and then hit them as they "meet" you. 2) Like Akira said, input 5C as 4C. Makes everything much easier. 4) This comes with practice. One thing you might want to note is that if 2D that hits an aerial opponent will bounce them higher than it hitting a grounded opponent. Depending on which combos you do, you may need to adjust accordingly.

I'm 90% sure that I can run this so put my name down (Danisen time being 7pm PST). That said, it'd be nice if we can get a back-up host for this week... (any takers?) -
An alle-cancelled j.2C is not punishable at all. As for a bounced j.2C, I'm not completely sure on this but it might be punishable if Carl does it at low heights as long as he doesn't cancel into an aerial move. If Carl gets a bounced j.2C but cancels it into a j.A, it (probably) won't be punishable since the recovery of j.2C is cancelled by j.A.

GGs to Moy, CMSORA and Dr. Patient (even though we only played one match). Moy, please teach me how to not be free against Plat.

[CS2-CSE] Carl Clover General Discussion - Shota Shorts Edition
Psykotik replied to Rishtopher's topic in Archive
If you're talking about throwing a volante and getting it to hit from any given distance, then all I can really say is "guesstimate" Ada's distance and throw out the volante when you think it's appropriate. One thing to remember is that if you throw out a volante, it'll go about 2/3rd-3/4th screen length in the time it takes to do [j.B, j.2C, j.B, dj.B, j.C]. The summon won't really take up that much meter though so I wouldn't worry about being conservative unless Ada's really low on meter (and even then, it's ill advised to throw out volante then since that move eats up a crazy amount of meter compared to other moves). At your current stage, I wouldn't worry too much about meter efficiency as long as you don't let Ada die. That said, if you really want to deal with meter efficiency, one trick to conserve Ada's meter is to deactivate her whenever you can. The reason why is because Ada's moves actually have a cost multiplier that affects the cost of the next consecutive move she does. For example, repeatedly using a move with an activation cost off 1000 and cost multiplier of 120% without de-activating Ada will cost 1000 -> 1200 -> 1440 -> etc. By deactivating Ada, you'll reset the multipliers and conserve more meter as a result. As for the 5C + fuoco oki, I'd do that off any situation where you get a knockdown and are in a sandwich. If you don't mind reading/ignoring moonrunes, these 3 videos have a crazy amount of Carl tech. Most of these are pretty legit too! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4YmM1a0qPM (the most "basic" video of the three, most of the combos are unoptimized as a result) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCzH9MwK8T0 (intermediate-advanced tech) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9B8utMIfLg&feature=g-all-u&context=G22f9fbbFAAAAAAAADAA (mostly advanced tech, shows the optimized combos off every almost possible confirm) I know, learning Carl is quite a bit of work. The fact that you have to learn a clusterfuck of stuff with our limited DL resources doesn't help either. Keep working at it and you'll have a good Carl at some point. -

If this is the problem I'm thinking of, then all you need to do is make it a sj.B and it'll work. Or it is a different problem? My favorite volante midscreen combo is 5B, 6B, 623C (22D), 5C, j.B (input 2D), slight delay, j.C (2D hits), land, 236A, 5C, j.B (421D), dj.B, j.2C, j.C (412D hits), land, j.B, j.2C, j.B, dj.B, j.C. I usually forgo corner carry for raw damage though. For oki, 5C + fuoco is the most reliable option since 5C prevents tech rolling and fuoco traps them for a long time. As for a meaty volante, it could work but 5C + fuoco is more reliable. For combos that leave Nirvana far away, you can just summon Nirvana after the combo finishes (or maybe even before then) and she's right there.
