I'd definitely be using DP D, but backdash 5C sounds good. I'll give that a try, thanks. :D
-
So I found out in ranked that Jin's Touga Hyoujin beats out Hakumen's Shippu at full-screen. XD A spammy D Haku tried this on me, and I used Touga on reaction. It worked! XD
-
What loop are you doing?
-
Ah. Well I just suggested that replacement because I know in other instances I've been able to connect 5B after 623B > 6C > 66 5C > 6C > 623C and one of the optimal DP loop combos uses it as well, but you guys know a shitload more about the game and character than I, so I'll take your word for it.
-
Yup. But like you mentioned, once they start mashing it, DP should work. I gotta remember to try that.
-
Oh, that's dirty... I'm gonna have to try that one.
-
That's interesting. Why is that, anyhow? Sorry if that's a nub question, but I'm not entirely certain of the mechanics around what dictates whether or not certain moves can link later in the combo.
-
trolololol, I'm gonna have to try that. I go for 2D a lot in ranked anyhow, because I love guard break. Can you not replace 623B > 66 6C > 623C with 623B > 6C > 66 5C > 6C > 623C? Not sure how that would affect the damage though. I lol'd.
-
Wow, I thought you guys knew this... You pretty much have to use 5A/2A after a hit with 6A, or else your pressure gets fucked. That's why I hate 6A. But people were telling me it's not a shit move, so I believed them. :|

I'm a scrub dude, I seriously thought there was some mysterious game mechanic that caused it. That combo is actually already in the combo thread. :P
-
I was so happy when I discovered that I could 2A that. XD trolololol
-
I'll probably show up, but only for a few hours. Romey, can you PM me your address? On the subject of Hige: Dude, you spammed on DL and wouldn't stop. I've almost been given an infraction for conversing in an optimal combo thread, so if you think outright spamming is acceptable, you ought to read the rules. Don't disrespect Kurushii for doing his job, that's just ignorant. On the subject of Cary: If you weren't being sarcastic, don't quit. If you quit, I'd have to rethink why I bother with the game. Fighting against Fonon last night made me so angry, because I lost due to him using overheads as the starter when his previous combo ended. Guess which direction I hold by default? That and Makoto's normals are so good, but at this point I guess that's all she's got going for her. But seriously, if you quit I have to wonder what a scrub like me is doing trying to improve at this game.

That's a different argument entirely. There is no replacement for playing games offline in-person. And yeah, having shit online means people don't show up to tournaments and casuals. It is detrimental, and I'd argue that since BB was built online, it's part of the reason tournament turnout is so shitty. However, netplay is a great supplement and for people like me who live a decent ways away from anyone I could play IRL, it's the next best option. That said, it's good for learning matchups and everyday practicing when doing some IRL every day is out of the question.

Pretty much this. I never got comfortable with my pressure as Jin because his normals don't allow for continuous pressure from the get-go. You have to condition opponents and unless you get enough swings at offense to do so, you won't be doing shit for conditioning. I have to work at being fast and efficient on my strings to prevent someone from mashing and break through a solid defense. Not sure what times I'll be running said stream. I'd like to avoid running it at the same time as Kuru's stream, but I'm not sure how viable an early evening room is. I'll give it some though and pick a time soon-ish. If you know well enough not to exploit noobies making mistakes, you won't develop bad habits. If you play against people better than you all the time, its A) Infuriating and B) you often won't get a chance to practice pressure or other things, because as soon as you make a small mistake, BAM you're punished with a 4k+ combo. I didn't realize that was your first tournament. XD I don't have nerves playing in front of other people. I know I'm bad, so if I screw up it's no different than usual. If I do really well and win, I'm super-happy and try to understand what allowed me to win.

Hey Guys, do you think it would be worth doing an Open Room Stream for nublets/scrubs? I'm sure Fonon and I aren't the only ones just getting into the game, and it might be worth doing something like this. I mean, it's cool and all to join Kuru's room and be dominated by Lord Knight all the time, but it might be valuable to get a bunch of scrubs together to practice and maybe have better players critique.

I'm kinda curious about how my connection with you would fair, so I'm gonna add you later. That said, I don't think Shin is gonna tell someone no because they aren't American. :P -
So the second 5B is supposed to be 2 hits? In that case, why don't you throw in a 2B between 5B and 5C? Would the proration break the combo?
-
I see you're back on DL. :P Sorry for not accepting your invite yesterday. I took a 30 minute break from studying to practice some new combos, to see if one could be improved.

Montreal: Le Thread Generale Pour Weeaboo Fighters

Guys, I gotta say that your thread's title made me smile. That is all. -
Hey xlolxlolx, I have a question about one of your combos in the 5A thread: 5a>5b>5c>sekka>6c>2d>j.2c>j.c>5b>5c>3c>214c Is that second 5B one hit or two? I certainly can't seem to do a microdash after landing the j.C without dropping the combo, but it looks as though with enough practice I could get it to work without a microdash and 1 hit on 5B. That's very strange... you'll barrier guard despite pressing B+C and not A+B?
-
Practice just 5B (2) > 5C > Sekkajin > 5C, although keep in mind, like Moy says you're usually going to want to microdash after the sekkajin in an actual combo whether you use 5C or 6C. Tips for the timing: Despite being able to hold C to continue sekkajin, I find it easier to mash at a certain rhythm. Additionally, when you're first learning the timing, watch the hits counter. When just practicing 5B (2) > 5C> Sekkajin > 5C the correct place to stop mashing is about between the 9th and 10th hits of the combo. I hope that helps, I had to deal with this myself about 2 months ago. Glad to see you're trying!

He's /totally/ in Florida, didn't you know?

I consider that the single best change in Extend.

Lol, it's cool. I realized after you posted that anyone who didn't read the last 2 pages might mistakenly think that. XD Woops.
