  1. Why does DBZ, Kenshing, etc. being anime somehow detract something? This is the core issue here. What you're saying makes it sound like "liking things that happen to be anime" is somehow lesser than merely liking cartoons. That the notion of "liking anime" has inherent negatives to it. Why can't it...be both? Why can't anime be some of the media which shaped/changed your life and made your childhood awesome and stuff? Why does it have to only be non-anime things which did that? In my eyes you're hurting the things you say you like by denying their true identity and choosing to interpret them in a way which is the fake one that the people who wanted to make the most money as possible tried to implant into the minds of dub-audiences in the US. If you proclaim to love these series so, I feel you should have some responsibility to them and you should at the very least contemplate them appropriately. The cutesy element is just a genre of anime. I'm sure you don't like all genres of movies. I'm sure you don't watch romantic comedies or foreign political dramas or w/e. You can be free to dislike a segment of a medium without applying it to the entire medium. There's tons of anime without the "kawaii" style of girls and focus on happy go lucky slice of life stories. Your implication is that all anime is just one thing and that's just wrong.
  2. Here's the thing, anime is not just "one thing". Anime, like "movies", have VARIOUS styles. Just because you like transformers movies it doesn't mean you won't find French 20s movies weird. Just because some of it is weird according to your personal view, that alone is not enough to color the ENTIRE medium. If someone told you they think Transformers is "messed up" because they saw A Serbian Film, you'd call them an ignorant idiot and all the justification in the world won't change this. You talk as if you're alone in this, as if only you and people who think the same thing you do watched DBZ and played SF. As if this opinion is the default one. I'm sorry to say but that's fucked right up. I did those things too, only, unlike others, I actually researched those things that "changed my life" (which is the logical thing to do) and found what they ACTUALLY are. Instead of taking what the dubbing and localization firms sold me as marketing cause they figured they'd make more money by misrepresenting things, I actually looked into what I liked so much! How about that! I'm sorry I sound somewhat aggressive but to other-ize the people who actually like what you too like enough to look into it and find its true identity, then upon that finding to continue pursuing that passion which you claim to share but for some reason never actually pursued at all, is truly stupid and ignorant and I can't stop looking down on somebody who'd do that. "Just the way it is" is bullshit. Slavery was just the way things were for a long while too. Doesn't mean it's good or that it should go unchanged. If you agree that it's messed up for things to be like this, if you think it's unfair, speak the fuck up when someone says something ignorant and correct the idiot into knowledge!
  3. And he just BARELY missed the OD duration for daifunka, just one less J4C early on and he'd get it, meaning this'd do like 400 more.
  4. Right, that was my point as well. I just say "2D fighters" when I speak of what I play. If people ask for specific I give names of games, to just say anime games makes people think of Narutimate Ninja Storm or some DBZ kinect thing. I know this cause I used to play these games before I got into BB, those were "anime fighters". Stuff like GG was just fighters, "anime fighter" is something that's based on an actual anime, or at least, that's what it meant around 2009 or so.
  5. Words mean things. Anime means anime. When people call games "weaboo-somethings" they don't mean that the game has more than usual mobility options. They mean that they have a certain look that only a certain kind of person would find appealing, they mean it in a derogatory way. However it was established that games with movement options beyond "walk" and "jump" are to be called anime, it's a damaging thing which creates division and everything would be better if it were eclipsed. In my personal experience, people complain more about things such as cuteness or flashy/colorful things when they complain about "anime games". Basically, think Platinum in BB, that's a compilation of everything people who complained about anime refered to in my experience. The way to solve this is to explain the vastness of thematic expression in the world of anime and that if a game has more of these overly-specific things than another, the other game doesn't magically become not-anime. If you have a drop of red paint and a bucket of red paint, the drop's not any less red cause the bucket has way more red in it than it does. Focus on the similarities rather than the differences. There's a whole plethora of them to pick from. I was watching this stream and this Maximillian dude who clearly showed an interest in GG replied that "BB is too anime" when asked about playing it. Clearly, BB doesn't have more movement options than GG. He didn't really speak of that interpretaion of "anime game". A lot of people don't I think, so my above point relates to all those people. If you read the posts here in past pages, one of the elements of making Xrd an anime game was that the trailer was in JP with subtitles. If that's something to signify a game to be an anime game, something about the cutscenes and not the gameplay, you can't really say that people just talk of airdashing. Maybe the super duper serious ones do but the common casual populace just means what the words means normally, they mean anime.
  6. Reading some of the posts in this thread has me baffled. I laugh at people who think Marvel is not anime but I just shake my head when people try to say GG isn't anime either. Do you even know what anime is? Do you think anime is only the 10 popular series that came in the US in the last decade and DBZ? I mean, seriously. Instead of trying to distance ourselves from the "other anime games" so that ignorant people who like SF and think that doesn't mean they also like anime (when SF4 has Akuma go freaking Super Saiyan 2 in its latest version, electricity included) we should be simply explaining to them what anime actually is and why every Japanese game is VERY anime in a ton of ways. Instead of trying to set ourselves apart and join the ignorant ones, we should be fostering information. I watched this marvel stream once; Yipes was calling xfactor "kaioken". How? How is marvel perceived non-anime when the guy makes a DBZ reference for its basic mechanic in an ACCEPTED way? How does this make sense? Why is kaioken not-anime but something with the word "kawaii" suddenly makes people call things “weeaboo”, "gay" or whatever they do? Just break down things in informative ways, explain that hadou in hadouken is the word for aura, which is what that colorful fire around the people of DBZ, Akuma, Evil Ryu, and Oni is, that the "fireballs" are not actually fire at all! Rather, they’re mental energy or “ki”, that the aura of a person around their body is heightened by that energy coursing through their body rapidly, which is what makes chars have spiky hair in many things. Explain everything in every commonly perceived non-anime game to show just how anime it is. If you make people realize they had been playing and ENJOYING an anime game all along they'd be much more likely to join other anime games too. That's the constructive and positive way to go about this. That’s the proud and unashamed way. People shouldn't try to mask or hide how anime something like GG is. People shouldn't feel ashamed or embarrassed of that facet of the game. They shouldn't try to deny it to blend in with or attract the “popular crowd”. All this closet-anime-fandom which is being propagated here is just annoying. If you like SF, GG, Marvel 3, any Japanese-made game with 2D art and Japanese-style thematic elements such as the shouting of moves as one performs them or Japanese characters/brush stroke flourishes in moves (such as SF4’s focus attack), you like anime. You may not like anime-aesthetics, that's a valid preference, but anime is a WHOLE LOT more than that and you better start comprehending it more since knowing oneself is important and a good way of achieving that is to know everything there is to be known about the things that you like, as they make up who you actually will end up being.
  7. Azrael doesn't really have wallsticks actually, his kick just has AGES of forward-moving histun even in the corner when you get hit by it with the weakness applied and he keeps canceling it into itself for that kicktrain thing. If you see him do just one of them you'll see just how long they fly forward lol. In this they seem to actually bounce back from the wall in a way which may make combos possible even when not directly in the corner. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere the voice clips are not recorded and they're using old ones from AC or even older games so don't bother trying to listen for differences quite yet. :P May's voice clips especially make this apparent so watch some games with her and listen closely. As for his redesign, eh, I never was a big fan so it's a lateral change for me. I like his new fire style moves though, maybe he needs to be more robotic to have that flame hurricane spew from around him now lol.
  8. http://youtu.be/D0c54Nn3rEU?t=8m6s This gave me the hardest CT flashback I've felt in a while. It also seems like a pretty decent use of meter.
  9. Fafnir's also crap easy to confirm on normal hit now. I'm in heaven lol. Those wallsticks are from dust. You know how in persona after an all out attack you can either wallstick em or blast em up, well, that's what happens in GG too now. Only without that mashing thing and it seems to affect the ENTIRE combo instead of the first hit, so you kinda basketball them against the wall with every single move you land, even if it normally doesn't do that. You're welcome. :D I don't see cyber-Baiken being a possibility, though we may get to see her naked missing arm in some parts or maybe all her devices inside her kimono's sleeve kinda like how we see what happens when Potemkin busters you off-screen...and that's awesome.
  10. I played it a bunch on the JP version of the game. I read it breaks your game if you use a US version and go and DL it on the JP PSN though so I'm just gonna wait till it's out here lol. O-Sol can combo after so many things now and lvl 3 savage fang ingores OTG, I'm in heaven. :D
  11. I became competitive with fighters with BBCT, before that I was just playing 3D games with my friends. Through BB, I discovered GG and hearing all the cool things about it (once I had been into BB enough to comprehend their meaning) made me wanna play it. All throughout those early days, there'd be a few loud angry people who would badmouth the game, it was quite funny to beat them at GG once the game finally got online play by using my BB-obtained skills. Yes, I likely wasn't playing the game right, I hadn't had much practice, still though, fundementals transfer. That's when it hit me, people who'd be assholes like that, they're just insecure, they're not really good or really confident in themselves or their game so they have to put others down. The people who destroyed me in GG, the ones who actually knew how to play it right, they tended to be cool and nice and helpful for the most part. I think the ellitist people are just like the ones in every scene, they try to cover up their insecurities by dumping on people who just don't know enough about the game to stand a chance but as long as you are good enough they scatter like roaches and will agree to your pro-BB anathema as if it was their original viewpoint. It's just funny to me that the people who glorify the difficulty of the game aren't even all that good at doing all those difficult things. They like...want to brag that they play a difficult game despite being unable to do half the things, rather than enjoy a less difficult game and be able to do mostly all the things and lose those hollow bragging rights. Ah well, I like GG but BB is my favorite game, I'll play both, I'll enjoy both, eventually I hope I get as good in GG as I am in BB! :D
  12. So Robo-Ky makes the PS3 overheat? This must be some top tier level irony. XD
  13. I find O-sol has great midscreen potential with maximum fire. He can confirm lvl 3 236K into 5H>623H(lvl3) and still have enough fire for a lvl 2 236K ender after the dust loop...and this is just midscreen. Also, lvl3 236P on air hit now hits 3 times, they don't fall out of it like they used to, it allows you to confirm more wonky pokes with it. Lastly, the OTG properties of lvl 3 savage fang are just nuts. All those impossible to confirm max range jH counterhits just got scary as hell. :D
  14. Biggest change here is 236P lvl 2. In the corner you have enough time to go into 5H after action charge without FRCing it and you can combo it after mostly anything. If you hit them with it midscreen, you can manually chare after the action charge into lvl 3 fire before they can do anything lol. Oh and I think Fafnir has either less recovery or bounces you higher because it's WAY easier to pick up a combo after it on normal hit now.
  15. Was fun being back here again after nearly an entire year. I think I'll be able to come here more often now. I hope my CP import copy will have arrived by the 26th so I can contribute a setup myself lol.
  16. Does DI Sol's dual punch super have some sort of projectile property that goes full screen? It seemed this way in one of the vids. Also, how is his DP when in DI? Does it still do like 16 hits and fly way up?
  17. One thing I noticed from watching vids is that they changed the waggling of stick to recover from stagger into a mashing of buttons instead. I'm happy about the change. I half feared they'd just scrap that system entirely but this is a good medium I think.
  18. http://www.radiokaikan.jp/press/?p=17669 Not sure if posted but look at all this Xrd awesmeness.
  19. Yep, lets have some good games, also I hope someone has found my thermus lol.
  20. It's easier than you think to adjust to. Back in CT j4B was j4C but adjusting to that change wasn't that hard once CS1 came out. If you wanna practice something practice random air pokes into j4C iad jB cause that's the timing of what you'll need to do to do jc iad jc in CP. You know what I wanna see now, I wanna see runup 6C throw fake counter into jump cancel> OD. I really wanna see how high the damage will go from that beauty. You'd likely have enough time to 2/3dash>5C>death.
  21. If only he hadn't dropped that combo there, he tried to do 6C after that 2D for some reason X.x. I'm pretty sure a series of 3 j4Cs would have sealed it there lol. I wonder, I remember that combo into web nail and ashura from j4C in another combo vid, I wonder if that's a good way to end oddly confirmed or prorated FRKZ stuff that you can't make end in daifunka. I'm fairly sure it'd have worked in this one anyhow.
  22. Oh I see, that's understandable then.
  23. My schedule changed and now I have casuals Fridays near at the time these happen. I'd still love to join up though. I think Fridays are a good day to do the show but I was wondering if it would be possible to move the show an hour or so earlier than usual since I'd love to join in future episodes. The show starts at six PM my time and lasts a little more than an hour and the time I need to leave my house for casuals is 7~ PM so just an extra hour would make everything fit in with eachother.
  24. Shoutouts to forgetting my thermus at the site, lol. If you guys find a silver/black smallish thermus with a screw-able top part and a little side thing that you press to drink please hold onto it for me.
  25. Yep, I'm always wanting more games lol. Oh and the coconut water can was actually good. 3rd place prize rules.
