just btw you were perm-banned for "immediately" creating another dustloop account to try to circumvent the temporary (one-week IIRC) ban that Gwyrg gave you. sure, the temp ban was for unnecessary trolling, but it was just a week. besides, Gwyrgyn is reasonable.

lol ok, so now that a few of us have sufficiently confused each other, let's make it clear (for those who were unsure) that we won't nominate mods for "obvious" things like being the mod of their respective character forum, but if they place high enough in a tournament to be recognized for a "gameplay/top player" medal, or they participate in some other meaningful way in the community, then it's fine to nominate them.

i love one of the comments on that video: HIDE YA KIDS, HIDE YA WIFE, HE COMIN IN YO WINDOW so i just befriended clarence on facebook, and i saw this "photo tag" of him at a friend's wedding. and at first i didn't read it very closely, and i was like "omg sherwin got married?!?!" but then re-read the name and was like "oh i don't know that person lol". very funny experience it was, trying to imagine the wife of sherwin.

you know that's a funny thing about being from China*, you can just pick whatever name you want, and like, except for other Chinese people, no one is gonna know xD i had one classmate in math ( \/1\/1J4 , just so i can later claim that i didn't actually write out the name on the internet in a public discussion forum), and at first glance she looks obviously Chinese, but the name is so... like, even to a stupid white kid like me, it didn't seem "chinese" enough. so one time i asked her about her name, and she was like "oh i just made it up, it sounds so cool and positive!" and i was like *wtf that it SO arbitrary why is she allowed to do that*. and then after that, i started noticing OTHER Chinese people with these really... "incongruous"... "English" names (i hesitate to even call them English)... and i thought to myself: *you guys are so lucky wth why i can't i choose my name*. ...but at least i can put interesting kanji to my name while still keeping it phonetically accurate, so i feel somewhat poetically vindicated. * come to think of it, anyone that's "asian", in any sense of the label, can get away with this -- even white people! i had another classmate in math, who was white as you can get, but her parents moved the family to India and they grew up there, and she "changed" her name to an Indian name while she was there; then, when she came back to Canada, she kept the name (and now no one can read her name at first because the romanization is totally out of sync with the pronunciation). so in summary, Asia is like this English-language mixing pot, where all rules and conventions are ignored or broken or modified at the local speaker's convenience and/or whim, and you just have no idea what is going to come out next.

so i'm looking at the biology dept.'s faculty webpage, and there is a... Dr. Cappuccino? and a Dr. Root Gorelick? it's almost like if someone named their kid "parameter" or "function" and the kid turned out to be a math prof lol.
