cool, from when to when will you be in Japan? Where are you staying?

1st Tokyo block finished yesterday. Kishya won the preliminary qual and the 3 preliminary qual winners were FAB, En and Kishya. FAB won the finals and took the block so he is the first to be qualified for the main event in May.

I played on a beta test cab with the card system. I don't know where people are getting cards already (I think there was a convention recently they were giving them out at perhaps? AOU or something?) but if you play without a card your name just shows up as "GG Player" by default. I was under the impression that the cards and ranking system wont go official until sometime in spring. The game pretty much is the same, the only difference is that it prompts you to scan your card before you select your character, if you dont use a card the cursor appears like normal. Then after both characters are selected it has a new "matchup" screen that shows the 2 characters with the player names and stats quickly, and then it goes to the regular old "blabla" vs "blabla" screens that have been in the game always. Player names appear in white text at the very top above life bars. One thing I like is that you just scan the card instead of inserting it in a slot like SFIV. With SFIV, sometimes if I am playing with my card in but I have to leave before I lose to catch a train or something, I have to die on purpose before I can get my card back. With this way you can just leave :P. Only problem is that I don't know if the older cabinets (like blast city) will be able to have the cards, and many arcades run plusR on old cabs still. The one I played on was an HD cab at Club Sega Akiba.

Yes, there is a tournament in Machida, Tokyo for BB on March 10th. Here is the information. If you plug the address into google maps I am sure you can find it. キャッツアイ町田店 [bBCP]3月10日 [P4U]4月6日 [GGACPR]4月7日 Address: 東京都町田市原町田4-4-7三経35ビル3F TEL:042-710-8800 I am confused though since you said Zama City which seems to be in Kanagawa. Is Machida the name of the arcade? There is a tournament in Zama City at this place for BB on March 20th. アミューズメントパーク ネバーランド2 [bBCP]3月20日 [P4U]3月30日(エリア決勝) [GGACPR]4月20日(エリア決勝) address: 神奈川県座間市ひばりが丘4-11-48 TEL:046-266-4811 In all honesty though, if you live in Kanagawa you can easily get anywhere in the greater Tokyo area so you can pretty much go to a tournament every weekend. Just click on the schedule link (5th from the top on the left side bar) and a map will come up. Click on either Tokyo or the greater Kanto area part of the map and it will list all tournaments. BB is the first section. You can see the dates for each one easily. Just click on the link and it will take you to the arcade's address and phone info. Plug the address into google maps and I am sure you can find the place. I hope that helps.

I am pretty sure it is Japan only.

If you look at the site, there are multiple blocks for each region. If you click on schedule you will see a map of Japan. Just click the region you want to see and there will be a list of blocks (each containing usually about 3 quals, with the last quals also having the block final). The process is just like SBO. If you win a block you go to the final event in May which will be held in Tokyo. Since quals will be held at several different arcades around Japan, streaming for individual qualifier tournaments would depend on each arcade. The final event will probably be streamed. This applies to all 3 games (GG, BB, P4A) and the lists are on the same page but separated. The first qualifier for GG is this weekend in Tokyo. I already went and preregistered for it last weekend just to make sure I can enter for sure since many arcades will probably have a cap on how many people can enter each qual.

LOL what!? There's no way Kliff is the worst character in the game... I can't see the original chart due to internet restrictions at work but that list seems a little fishy.... Happy to hear about the ranking cards though!

This tournament series deserves its own thread, so I made one. For those who didn't hear, Arc System Works has its own SBO style tournament series this year! There will be regional quals and everything, but the difference is that all tournaments are singles tournaments. The featured games are GGXXACPR, BBCP, and P4A. http://arc-revo-cup.jp/ I plan to attend many qualifiers! Let's discussion!
-
I don't know about tougeki but Arc System Works is basically having their own SBO this year for GG, BB, and P4A. http://arc-revo-cup.jp/ It will have regional quals just like tougeki except that everything is singles tournaments. I am fine with this because at least i don't have to worry about finding teammates and can pretty much just go to whatever quals I want to without worrying about other people's schedules. Plus its easier to beat one top player to advance instead of 3 (in the cases where I end up with not so good teammates lol). I am really hype about this!

I just got back to Japan last night and now I am back at work for my first day. Thank you everyone so much for all of your help, especially the staff Humbag Callisto SuperGreekFyter Justin Atomic Collider Flying-v Shinsyn Webster ragequit and everyone else who helped out without your help none of this would have been possible. I think the event went well despite being slightly crowded. Expect an exciting announcement regarding venue for next year. We plan to make Frosty Faustings VI even bigger, better, and longer with more games, more time, more space, and more hype! Vids for all games can be seen here http://www.youtube.com/user/TheSassageKing Thanks again and I look forward to next year!

http://www.youtube.com/user/TheSassageKing Has all FFV tournament vids (8 games including GGXXAC)

lol shut up jaime... come to frosty faustings so i can money match your testament lol
-
If you want I will beat you up in some laggy underwater matches lol
-
Who cares? It probably will be free but even if it isn't, are people honestly that broke that they can't afford another $15? Just have cup ramen for lunch 3 days in a row instead of what you would usually eat and there's your 15 bucks, lol.

Sounds pretty good to me!

I don't know. Japanese would be better but I guess English is better than nothing.

Ah ok, I have not played Kedako in ACR yet but I have fought him a lot recently online in regular AC. oh and, though I already mailed them myself, for those of you who want to send email to ASW, this is their email support@arcsy.co.jp

Unfortunately you can never make everyone happy with which console each game is on. I made my choices after consulting with the other staff who will run brackets and asking what will be available most for each game based on people that can bring stuff, combined with balance of usage split between PS3 and XBOX among all systems to maximize number of setups. There will be plenty of sticks for both systems there and I am sure you can find someone who wont mind if you borrow their stick for your tournament matches. In fact, I have friends coming who I know won't mind if you use their stick for either system so don't worry about it. -
I am certain that the PS3 version game speed feels like arcade and is a bit slower than PS2. I play both arcade and PS3 regularly and feel no difference but every time I touch PS2 it feels so weird for the first few games. As for Japanese players online, I play most days of the week that I am home and I am always able to find games. Sometimes it just takes a long time to connect because the matchmaking sucks. I also noticed that when I check custom search, that there are a lot of names on there showing up in gray, and I can't even attempt to challenge them. Also tons of names on rankings that I have never even seen. I think it just has trouble connecting certain people with eachother for whatever reason. I also played a few US players (it was laggy as hell) so I know people in different countries can fight. The game is not dead at all, ASW just needs to get their shit together and fix the online menus and netcode.

That's a shame, I guess airfare varies depending on location. For those of you who are worried about slightly high airfare, keep in mind there is a lot of pot bonus money to be won that could easily pay for it. I understand if people are busy around the holiday season though. Unfortunately it is the only time I can run this event. -
Just got a reply from ASW saying that they are still working out bugs and plan to improve the online and to please be patient. They didn't say specific details but hopefully they mean it.

Yea man! Huge turnout, big prize money, GG hype, and cheap airfare. Really no reason not to come! http://www.redroof.com/property/RRI188/Northbrook/IL/600151331/ Heres the closest hotel. Only about $50 for a room. I am sure you can find someone to split with. Lots of people always stay at Red Roof, and its right across the street.
