Weirder still is that it's apparently a reversal super. That aside, Haku-men just goes where he pleases really.

[CPEX] Celica A. Mercury Gameplay Discussion Thread

So some kind of fire attack maybe? The ash part could be referring to a pheonix's healing cycles and all that, so I'm not ruling out healing as a side effect. #Next level speculations, Myoro style. -
Excellent CMV, we'll have to translate those combos to our combo thread and that Vid to our video thread in due time. I wonder how optimal some of those are though... They're pretty heavy cost but they do some pretty amazing damage. as an aside, I need to remind Necro and the rest of you who will listen to pray at your bedside that Relius doesn't get any nerfs in the patch that will add Celica and Lambda, take away Nu's luna form, and do god knows what else. If we all wish hard enough, maybe we'll get head I frames on our 6B for christmas, or something even cooler.

No that's just a backround graphic of her j.2DD. If you pop your game in and check you'll see what I'm talking about. Also is that image of Lambda using j.632146D her using a far range version? ir is it just that she's in OD and the first 3 swords have already faded?

Ooooh really? O_o' Dropped the ball on that one I did. I wonder why she's facing her action barbie instead of the oncoming void then? I wonder if it's both a heal ball and a reversal... Does "Ash Rotir" actually translate to anything or is it cool sounding gibberish? -

http://tinyurl.com/otmfpcb Looks like we'll be having to heal the droid as a distortion, I was afraid of that kinda doll management... What do all make of the position Celica is in relation to Minerva in this pic? What do you think are the implications of having to heal the doll, how will this affect her play? Do you think they'll make the doll more powerful/burn quicker/recover slower so that there is reason for this move? -
They're prolly gonna get crazy buffs and new moves and combos to boot. This is hardly a bad thing.
-
You know that means they're gonna have to give Nu a whole bunch of crazy new tools to be competitive. Lambda too. SWD you're lucky it's like your main just asexually reproduced and now you have two characters. on topic, when are you gonna re-add Lambda to your sig?
-
That is wrong actually, only two arms. If you look closely the "big arms" are just sleeves. The fingers you see in the sprites are absent from the character portrait leaving ambiguous Kaka jacket like claw holes, and in the sprite you'll notice the smaller arms are absent. She can likely change the size and shape of her arms like Nirvana and Ignis. At least we now know that large wire is coming out of her head and is not supposed to be a tail. If it was I'd have demanded a Megaman BN6 Slash-Beast palette for her.

Can I just say Minerva looks creepy as sin in her character portrait. That's coming from me, a Relius main.
-
Relevant post is relevant. Also I freekin' called it, if anyone cares.
-
I'm uncertain about the boundary between speculations and taking a stab in the dark, or even if that boundary is something I need concern myself with in this thread, however... Calling it now she's gonna have a gravity well that puts them in zero gravity instead of high gravity or a version of Nu's 236236D that goes vertical instead of horizontal.

I feel the exact sentiment here. It's like you took the words outta my mouth then made them awesome. -

I can definitely see that. But how would Minerva be able to act autonomously, as is the requirement of true puppet characters, when she's going to be involved in Cel's other normals? Would it work out like Relius where her D normals are independent and only her command specials change with Minerva out? Or would she be a puppet character only in name, who who treats Minerva as more of a power-up mode or alternate set of normals rather than a conventional puppet? How did these stands change the properties their user's movesets while remaining, at times, independent? -
Ever consider that Nu could get redesigned too in the upcoming edition/patch that comes along with adding Lambda? What if they gave them both their own unique tools, (Lamb-chops gets Luna form stuff, Noodles-13 gets Dia stuff) and added additional tools that complement their individual playstyles? Nu could finally have a non-schizophrenic playstyle again.

[CPEX] Celica A. Mercury Gameplay Discussion Thread
Myoro replied to Grimsley-San's topic in Celica A. Mercury
She's interacting with Minerva during a non-distortion move, so I can assume she does not work like Carl, in that the puppet's specials can be independently operated. If Celica is needed for one/all of her specials, then we'd have to assume ether Minerva can teleport to Celica's side or that she can never leave Celica's side. However, in the picture, there is no clear sign of Minerva teleporting to Celica's side for her special (although that may be because the photo was taken at time in the moves duration where any "teleportation graphics" would have faded) I have my own questions about a stand like style for Minerva. I wonder if she could actually jump to follow Celica into the air, as it doesn't look like she's flight enabled like Ignis. If she did would they move completely in unison or would there be a Ice climbers/Taox2 style delay between the two? If she's as "beginner friendly" a "puppet character" as I've been led to believe I would assume the former to be true. -
But 41236B>3C>astral is just as effective if not more so. You never have to worry about reduced stun time with 3C because they can't tech until they touch the ground.
-
Well I'll help the best I can without being phisically able to see the problem. Firsty it'll help you tremendously to set the training dummy to tech whenever possible. When learning combos this is generally the best setting. Next the properties of the moves themselves, 3C by its self gets the opponent off the ground. The important thing here is, no matter what, the opponent cannot tech until they actually touch the ground again after 3C hits. Due to this property, you can, and should, the 9D to when the opponent is just about to touch the ground lowers their height for the rest of the combo, making it easier. 6D can be done until the very end of your jump start-up (which is the first 4-ish frames of your jump) the later you do it into your jump start-up the easier it is to connect with falling j.B. Because you want to use j.B as close to the ground as possible you want to use 6D as late as possible. j.B moves the opponent horizontally forward rather than upward vertically like j.C, this makes it ideal for linking into 2C. the best timing for j.B to hit is right before you touch the ground so you can 2C immediately after. Basically the goal is to do 6D, and j.B as late as you possibly can without having the opponent tech. As for visual cues to look out for, you press the D in 9D after you see Relius just beginning to leave the ground, and for j.B you use it while you are descending so that it comes out with you barely above the ground.

Not gonna lie, "beginner friendly puppet character" tripped a few alarms in my head until I read this and remembered.
-
My plan is to not get eliminated in the first round unlike GFvDL...
-
Of course I came to realize in due time, that I liked him best. For this and many many other reasons. What I sayin' is that maybe I'll get a second opinion on Celica after playing her. I dunno. She's got a cape too tho. Just needs a mask really.
-
I'll play Celeca for Minerva's sake. If a character's personality was what I judged my character selections on, I'd have never played Relius (who I love now.)
-
After both hits of 41236B? occasionally 3C will whiff if 61236B hits too high (especially on Makoto) but generally it's loosey goosey enough for a microdash>5B.
-
Yeah, I'm kinda hesitant to do Rapid combos for it because I feel like there isn't a situation where you would use the 50% gauge for vinum or CA instead... Even so I'm envisioning stuff like TKj.236C>rapid>airdash>j.D>j.B>662C>6C>214C>jump over>stuff...>236C>214A>663C>profit. I feel like it could be useful against jumps meant to bait vinum as well because j.236C>Rapid>airdash>j.B>j.C might get you some pressure. I think TKj.236C is Atomic collider level of callout risky or even riskier. Still nice to know we've got options, even if they're bad ones. Relius has few defensive options, so I feel like we should push the effectiveness of our moves to the max to compete with other character's defenses.
-
Necro! Let's test TKj.236C to punish wake-up throw! I'm hoping it doesn't whiff on any standing hit-boxes, but It's gonna be lulzy as heck if it works. if we rapid it I wonder if we could get a cross-up combo that puts em back in the corner...
