Thanks. Not sure about that sidebar animation problem, though. Has anyone else been experiencing it? Game install from disc is over 3 GB, bigger than Aquapazza and more than I expected for a standard-def 2D fighter. Most of it is probably sound data.

I actually think Nyotengu looks really cool and I'm definitely buying her. Her flight antics and Mishima-style spin kicks make her seem like a Tekken character who invaded DOA. They should have kept the mask on her all the time, though. But come on guys, she's not another clone character.

I already have them disabled in options, and I never see the choice on the selection screen in versus. The animations always come up (though not in any other mode). Is this a bug or oversight that needs to be patched? How do you Extend Blast? I'm pretty sure I tried the command for a regular burst while not being attacked, and nothing came out.

[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion
TAI-X replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
Hori released the HRAP Pro. V4 Hayabusa stick for PS4 last month. Definitely not a shitty stick. Only available in Japan for the moment though. If the leak is to be believed, it sounds like the only real difference between the versions will be the resolution, especially if they're similar enough that the game supports cross-play. Considering my TV only goes up to 720p anyway, that's going to be a huge relief if true. Hoping to put off the inevitable PS4 investment as long as possible. -
Finally got my copy (with drama CD, lol). Total newcomer to the series aside from a few minutes spent with the hacked-for-PC vanilla arcade version, and I have some questions. - What is Arcana Eclipse and how do you do it? - Are there any other mechanics new to LM? - How do you disable the animated borders in Versus mode? - Are there non-command throws? - How do you control Lieselotte's doll? - What is a good arcana to use with Eko?

New Fighting Game Based On Shining Series

Switching characters only between rounds? Shades of Rival Schools. I never cared for that system though, mid-round tagging is much more interesting. -
Yep. It's dominated by kiddies, angry scrubs and flaming weeaboos online though. I've seen people awkwardly roleplaying their custom characters in Global Colosseo chat and arguing about rappers.

Waiting for my JP physical copy to arrive. This is going to be my first real experience with Arcana Heart, were any new characters besides arcanas added to LM?

No reason to stop there. They can do full-fledged alternate costumes, now that they've switched to 3D models. Potemkin getting a classic outfit would almost certainly be one of the first we see, and if Arc decides there's no chance of Order Sol and Robo-Ky returning as playable characters, they can at least show up as costumes. -
Rise of Incarnates (Bandai Namco Games/PC/F2P)

I'd be interested in checking out EXVS: Filthy Gaijin Edition if my PC had any hope of being able to run it. Game looks very solid and playable, given its obvious design heritage. But I suspect that Bamco is deliberately keeping it off consoles, because they don't want to cannibalize the EXVS playerbase in Japan with a F2P game and create competition against themselves. -
Under Night In-Birth, PS3 release confirmed (Jul 24, 2014)

Isn't there one more character being added for the PS3 ver. they still have to reveal? -
We Need an Arcana Heart 3 Section

I'm going to mention that I don't use Twitter or Facebook at all and completely rely on forums for game-related discussion. I know that there are more than a few others like me. -
We Need an Arcana Heart 3 Section

It's true that Melty Bread and Homing Cancel have been ghost towns for a long time now. It might ultimately be better for all parties involved if they were able to collectively shift their resources onto a single site. -

I would support subforums for AH3LM and UNIB but not Dengeki. I don't feel like the latter game is really going to go anywhere competitively. A bunch of people will jump on it at first because of the recognizable characters, but they will probably wear it out quickly, similar to Aquapazza and Jojo ASB. The forum should at least take a "wait and see" approach with the game. AH3LM especially deserves one, because it's been confirmed for a physical US release and is part of a well-established series. -
Somehow reminds me of Sammy's Survival Arts when in motion. It's probably that the digitized sprites are way too huge.

Excellent guide. Looking forward to more of your material. Detailed VS strategy like this in English is sorely uncommon. -
Chaos Tower on PSP actually does have Infrastructure online play, not just Ad Hoc. One of the first games on the system to have it. I wonder whether it's better or worse than on the Dreamcast Matching Service version.

As a fan of the lightsaber combat in the Jedi Knight series, this is very interesting to me. Unfortunately I don't own a gaming-quality PC. I hope they eventually bring it to consoles, it seems like it would adapt very well to a dual-analog controller.

New Fighting Game Based On Shining Series
TAI-X replied to Malcopunch's topic in Misc Fighter Central
Yeah, this looks like a cheap, rough and dirty cash-in. The artists have no idea how to make pre-rendered 3D look dynamic or appealing. There's also the apparent lack of representation from the older and better Shining games, the ones most Western fans are familiar with. I'll most likely pass on the inevitable PS3 port. -
Under Night In-Birth, PS3 release confirmed (Jul 24, 2014)
TAI-X replied to Hecatom's topic in Under Night In Birth
You're going to get the same story scenes from the arcade version in 1P mode. What they meant is that it won't have a full-fledged visual novel story mode like Blazblue, though there will be some new bits. I guess we can consider the Skullgirls character deconfirmed. -
Under Night In-Birth, PS3 release confirmed (Jul 24, 2014)
TAI-X replied to Hecatom's topic in Under Night In Birth
Best I can manage (not everyone): Hyde: Shoto. Linne: Small and fast shortrange rushdown character. Waldstein: Heavy and slow grappler / power fighter. Has a lot of range and attacks are pretty fast though. Carmine: High pressure projectile zoner. Some attacks cost health though. Merkava: Dhalsim-style zoner with unusually high mobility and flight abilities. Seth: Rushdowner with setup traps. Hilda: Neutered boss character like SFIV's Seth. Versatile character that can do "zoning rushdowns," but with low HP and damage. Risky and combo-dependent. Chaos: Not a true puppeteer, as he can't attack at the same time as his dino. More about setups and footsies. Akatsuki: Shoto with a parry ability unique to this game. Low range compared to most of the cast. -
Under Night In-Birth, PS3 release confirmed (Jul 24, 2014)
TAI-X replied to Hecatom's topic in Under Night In Birth
I have to admit that I'm kind of turned off from Carmine myself, because some of his specials consume health. Same reason I couldn't handle ABA in GG. I am probably going to try and use Akatsuki. His combos seem more intuitive and common-sense than the rest of the cast, and I'm a huge fan of Blitzkampf. There is still one more new character for the PS3 version to be revealed, though. I'm expecting it to be the already hinted at Skullgirls guest character. -
This had better bring back Sett, Voodoo, Mephis, Prince, Beast and the whole cast of campy but lovable hangers-on from the original game. I'm honestly more interested in playing as them in HD than as a middle aged has-been in retirement, who's only managed to hang on to relevance through 90's nostalgia and a silly Twitter account.

Welp, I'd say these folks are done with trying to sell video games, or at least being able to make a profit off them. Back to CGI snuff films, then. Shades of the Ocean Marketing incident.

Under Night In-Birth, PS3 release confirmed (Jul 24, 2014)
TAI-X replied to Hecatom's topic in Under Night In Birth
I see Hilda as a glass cannon type of character that has to be played very aggressively, similar to SFIV's Seth. They're both boss characters that received heavy nerfs to damage and HP for their playable versions, while retaining all the powerful functionality of their movesets. If Hilda can keep the other player locked down with pressure and combos it's all good, but give them the advantage just once or twice and it's all over.
