  1. 2D + 6B can still perfect-unblock even with block switching on so i think it's perfectly conceivable that the 3D j.B reset -can- be a perfect unblockable if timed correctly.
  2. I'm less worried about knowing options just because i know any hit confirm that leads up to a cantabile goes to the reset. which is... dandy, i guess... i guess random nirvana hit confirms might be good to bone up on, though i'd assume they are similar to CS1 where its just blah blah into 8D then into reset. which limits your combos off of them since you use more meter setting it up than from carl hits. oh well. The reset is just so darned awkward to time tho ... @_@'
  3. seems you have to jump cancel into the j.c or you dont get enough recovery time to j.2C before touching the ground.
  4. Sooo is there a secret jump cancle after the j.c ->3D that allows the j2C to connect or what because that's my new "hmm" thing here.
  5. yeah it's not complex it's just awkward. In my case i have a tendency to hold directions for an extended period so the 3 from the 3D often leads over into the j.c making it a j.2C and boning up the combo. or the 3 will be a 6 instead and Ada-punch inst exactly beneficial for knocking people into. I'm getting better at it tho. slowly.
  6. the only really hard part about those set ups is the j.B3]D[ input. it's awkward to get used to.... the rest is pretty easy.
  7. oh on a side note: j.C can still be jump canceled on hit even with the knock down, though idk if it has any real applications.
  8. potayto potahto idk i get all kinds of wierd things happening c.c' oh yes i got over-zealus and got 6B jb air dash jC once too that was kinda herp derp. it takes me forever to get inputs down -.- kinda sad.
  9. Okay i have to admit that JC3]D[ is probably the most awkward thin I've ever experienced combo-wise, and often gets me jB6D jB623D and jB2D. i feel like it's going to take me months just to combo again =x
  10. Oh SHI~ i think we need a new 1.03 discussion thread. Also hows everyone who didnt buy the PSP version enjoying relearning their character completely :D
  11. I got it by trying over and over and over again (for hours on end one day) and as far as i can say it goes something like this: after the allecan, while still holding 4 from 214C, hit C again for 5(actualy 4)C then more or less imidiatly use that 4 for the start of 421]D[. It's tight. as hell. lol. Just a do-over-and-over untill you have it down thing. As far as picking them up after that, its also tight and depends on how high up you hit them with 5C volante. If you're doing another 5C volante or allecan jb 8D you can start that while they're pretty high. If you're going for a 4D, you have to let them get pretty close to the ground and release the 4D just before you 5C after alle-can. it's a tricky beast :x
  12. so all zoning characters are pathetic. gotcha.
  13. so you camp C N O and get them to jump into you?
  14. If they always jump you end strings with 8D until a.) they learn not to or b.) they die. without being fancy i get 4k off of 8D hit confirms. the only flaw there is if they're smart they'll begin crouching under it which does actually put you in a tricky spot to continue pressure but if they're smart enough to figure that out they aren't gonna be auto-jumping out of everything you do in the first place. Side note, they actually took that away from us in CS2 in lieu of losing 2 primers and being forced back into pressure, which is still decent, but not nearly as death-inducing. Yes carl can die to scrubby stupid things if you don't adapt to them. But if you are playing someone who does stupid things he has just as many tools to fight against scrub tactics as he does to combat high level players. You just have to recognize what you're dealing with and adapt accordingly. Like you would with anything. Point in case, tager can butter churn 360's / 720's out of allot of carls resets all day, but if they are doing nothing but spamming back dash -> 360 or just churning, you just end a reset with jump away + 2D. they wont recover from a 360 start up in time to block it, and i've yet to see thema void getting launched after they finish their back dash. Anyone mashing A gets counter hit by the 4D crossup if u time it properly, and again that's 4-5k damage and 50 meter gain. DP mashing ragna will clash with your 2B when u distance it properly and then you punish from there. DP mashing jin also gets bonked by 4D resets. DP mashing litchi you actually need to insta-block to get her properly as far as i can tell sadly, but oh well. we already knew she was a cheap bitch. Would these work against a competent player? no probably not. once if u got lucky. Does it annihilate scrubby players? absolutely.
  15. 4D cross up reset isn't super amazing because it's pretty telegraphed but it does net 4-5k damage on connection in CS1 and leads into BnB UB resets in CS2 so i think it's a worthwhile trick to keep in the arsenal. And when you time it right it's actually not easy to block on reaction and has to be more of a psychic deal. And when that becomes the case and your opponent is thinking Oh i see a 4D happening, quick switch guard directions... you just don't cross them up. and they either get hit by it for being silly, or figure you out, block it, lose a primer and are still in a nasty pressure sandwich. You just turn the telegraphed reset into a guessing game. Its what i do against all my friends who've learned how to see through most of the text book shiningans. And frankly with the nerf to insta-block advantage in CS2 it'll be less risky in that regard. only downside will be nirvana's life loss in pressure strings racking up.
  16. noted: carl can full life with 2 resets and almost all of nirvana's meter. glad to know we're still dangerous as all hell lol. also if the blue beat was from hit stun deterioration by that late in the combo there would have been several other blue beat points i think. so i'm with him on the mistake lol
  17. the boarder of maine is actualy the longest part of my drive when i go to/from Salem and Boston xD takes a good almost-hour. but still a maybe. it also depends what part of the boarder because if it's north along the boarder you have to take shittons of back roads because maine has no highways that run east-west only north-south
  18. If this happens, PLEASE give advance notice so i can drive out of my cold cold state to join in on this fun. Like a week or 2 because my schedual is wierd. But i'd really like to attend this if it goes down ;- ;
  19. It is, most likely.
  20. I'm the carl player kiddo.
  21. that.... that's retarded xD
  22. Leaving for AB tonight (in ~2hours) so look for my sexy red hair in the game room and play with me :D
  23. Neato, anyone who will be there should hit me up for BB or something. i'll play GG or AH3 too but i'll be horibble since i have absolutely no experience in AH and i'm an absurd scrub at GG :D I will not play MvC3. i dislike it. Too much going on at once. I may costume as Arc from FF3DS and i may just wear normal cloths. or wear parts of my costume because it gets hot. Eitehr way the red-wine-colored hair should be a give away, and typically i spend an absurd amount of time at the game room D:
