The "xx" just means special cancel. As in, cancelling the 2D into Tatami. It's not that bad, but it doesn't work on everyone. There are lightweights (like Baiken) who you simply cannot hit with a j.P after Tatami (although j.K works, but that one does have very strict timing). It's also much better to go for that than to hope they don't tech and try j.S. It cancels yzn before the yzn even comes out. As far as I've ever been able to figure out, it's basically just gimmicky. I think I've seen Maruken and others use it to either do really low air dashes, or to go into an overhead (j.P/j.K). It doesn't really seem worth the tension to me, though. I'd say that Pot is easily Baiken's worst matchup. I pretty much always go for zoning in that match; if Pot gets in, it's going to be very hard to get out, and he deals with counters really well. It's also a match that I don't think I know that well, so hopefully someone else who knows it better will be able to comment.

Nick, I thought it was actually the other way around? Like, people thought, oh it's still Eddie, but then realized nope, not really. I could easily be wrong, though. I really don't remember Slash very well, considering I didn't really start playing seriously until AC came out.

Against most characters you aren't even going to need an FRC for the tatami in there. Justice is just kind of light, I guess. Generally you should be doing something like: whatever into 2D xx tatami sj.PSD (and if you have a corner, you can follow up with ad.SD or ad.PSD or ad.PD). There are certainly other variants, just as 2D xx tatami sj.PD, or from other moves that cancel into tatami, like 5H or 6H. Sometimes you don't need to superjump. If you want to FRC something, and you don't have a corner, you can do something like: whatever into 2D xx tatami sj.PSD FRC air dash (pause) SD. Or if you have a corner whatever into 2D xx tatami sj.PSD ad.SD FRC tatami dash j.SD ad.SD Something like that, but there's no tatami FRC in any of those, just j.D FRC. Typically I only use tatami FRC in pressure, against lightweights where it's hard to follow up the tatami without it, or in certain flashy tatami FRC iad.D fastfall combos. Or I sometimes use tatami FRC on oki to bait wakeup DP. But I don't think it has a whole lot of practical use in combos.

I'm not sure there really is any point to "Medal Modes" aside from just racking up points. There aren't really any gameplay differences between Accent Core and Accent Core Plus. The EX Characters are different; Kliff and Justice are only in AC+; and AC+ has story mode and a different survival mode. I think that's about it.

So, I read people mentioning "other fighters" and I wonder, what other fighters are you guys playing? Then I read Jimmy's post and wonder if people are just playing less games. I know I'm not gaming much. I just haven't had time. Grad school tends to do that.

If you want to play #R online, you're probably better off on PC. I've never actually played it on XBox, but I've heard from plenty of different sources that it's pretty bad in comparison. But, hey, what do I know? And Jam is never cool in #R. Never.

Sol was considered second best, right below Ky. Yes, dustloop was taken out but Sol got SW loop. His B&B mostly seemed to be getting to VV somehow because VV was the Pile Bunker of Slash. I think his WT combo was something like: WT (slight pause) j.S j.H(1) xx SW land BB dash 2H jc j.S jc J.S VV kick. I didn't play Slash enough to say if it's more balanced than AC, but they're both pretty balanced. Robo-Ky was supposed to be pretty much unplayable in Slash, though, and I don't think anyone's really unplayable in AC.

GGs to can and julios since I think they're the only people I've played in like a week. Majinken, I've seen worse. At least you seem willing to learn. I seem to recall thinking that you jump too much but it has been a while.

GGs Ruinz, konata_akira, Kicks, bagandscalpel, Shimmer, Janiekenzu, and Scavenger. Ruinz - I'd play other characters more, but I just have more fun with Sol. You deal really well with his stuff with Zappa, though, and that's a pretty bad matchup for Zappa.

Okay, so something came up and my original plans got cancelled, which means that I'll probably be able to make it tonight after all. Looks like most of the GG people won't be there, but I guess I can show up and get my ass handed to me in BB regardless.

GGs to everyone yesterday, and thanks to Ruben for hosting once again. I seem to be getting a slightly better idea of what to do in BB. Very slightly. Also, GG EX character battles are fun, but regular AC makes me want to try the AC+ ones again, since there's just more to them.

I'm considering showing up. I finally got to try CS2 earlier in the week with >_< and I thought it was pretty fun, so I wouldn't mind heading over and letting you all destroy me in the game.

Oh hey, Dustloop is back. That took a while. GGs to everyone a week ago, and thanks to Ruben for hosting. It was good to finally get to play people offline again.

As I mentioned before, I've got Melee and a couple of controllers lying around, so I'll just bring those tomorrow and if people want to play, cool, but if not, then that's fine too. I only have two controllers, though, so hopefully either you've got two or someone else wouldn't mind bringing some. Also, GG, Melee, AND Dan...Nick's right, it really does sound like Melty Haus, haha. Excellent.

Erik, getting a copy of CS isn't the problem, unfortunately. Having to also get a PS3 or an XBox 360 as well is, though, since I don't have either system. And at the moment I have literally zero money to spare, as not only am I moving in a little over a month, but I'm also going to be working as a teaching assistant, which is great, but it means I'm going to have to be able to coast for about a month or more before I get my first pay check, and I just have to be sure I've got enough to be able to do that. And I'm happy to teach my GG tips and such if you're interested. I'm sure you've come a long way since I last played you, but I know there's a lot to keep track of in GG. Also, Raul, yeah, Pot seems relatively straightforward, and you've got a great matchup against Sol. Still, I've acquired a few tricks recently from playing a really good Pot player online, but it was in #R, and I want to try them against an AC Pot. Ruben - Not exactly trying to answer for Marq here, but GERD is curable. It just takes a while, and it is a bitch. I know from experience. Also, if I can make it out on Friday, and I think I should be able to, I've got a copy of SB:Melee and a couple spare controllers lying around somewhere that I can bring.

Do you find the prospect of playing Guilty Gear against me titillating, or should I cue the awkward silence? Wait, nevermind, both those sounded weird. Let's start over. ... So a friend of mine said to watch this while listening to this. It was pretty epic. /more random posting Gdlk, eh? That's good for me, since those are the only two characters I've really had fun playing in BB. I feel like I should try playing it again, but I'm not sure I'm ready to try and overcome the "I don't have this game and won't be getting it for some time yet, if ever" problem. And, damn, Tager players just can't seem to catch a break. He kind of reminds me of Zappa in that sense. Also, I'm leaving again for Louisiana in August and, if anyone's interested, I'd like to play some Guilty Gear with people before I go. Or are you all too busy with CS2 and MVC3? =P

So, Tsubaki and Rachel are actually viable in this version of the game? Tsubaki seems a lot better from the few videos I've seen. And, wow, I had GERD before. It sucks. What helped me was elevating the head of my bed at night and drinking green tea (although apparently green tea makes some people worse?). In any case, I hope you're doing better! /random post
