Arizona "Arcsys Release Dates Give Us Erectile Dysfunction", Thread

Well, damn. It seems P4:A casuals have taken a combined double blow from Ruben not being able to host and GW2. Oh, and I do finally have the game for PS3, but I doubt I'll be playing online much. The few times I've tried have been pretty painful. -

GGs to everyone yesterday! P4:A is a lot of fun. I may actually have to get it, haha. Now to see if I can get a PS3 for cheap... -

Is this for tomorrow? If so, are you at the same place as the last time I was there, and is anyone willing to teach me P4:A? -

Hey, I'm back from the swamp called Louisiana. What's going on? It appears that people are getting into P4:A, which seemed really fun from the one chance I've had to play it. -
Sol really doesn't need help with his mixup game, imho. It's not Millia's, but it's solid and on average leads to decent damage and a knockdown. He's also not a pressure character. He can pressure effectively if he's got tension for GF FRC, but not so much otherwise. On the other hand, special cancelable Fafnir might improve Sol's pressure game without tension. Should be interesting to see how these changes turn out.
-
Yes. Either you'll throw them or get a 6K if they're out of your throw range.
-
You definitely won't need to throw out all you know, or anything close to that. I mean, there's still a significant amount of #Reload stuff that's still valid in AC, and looks like it will still be valid in the new version. Combos are changing, and other moves are being tweaked, but you'll still be playing Baiken. A different version of her, sure, but not an entirely different character.

I'm liking the Sol changes thus far. And the Testament ones, haha. -
I forgot to mention: you have to RC it. So, the setup would be a blocked clean sidewinder in the air, RC, then either an airdash to go high or 2k on landing. I don't think I've ever actually landed it in a match, though. It's just not very practical.
-
It stores the clean hit so long as you hit your opponent right away. It's like having a free unprorated clean hit before the combo even begins.

2D rc dash 2D rc dash WT. Haha, oh man.

I still don't see it making the command run a useful move, unfortunately. Especially when the common reaction to it is just to throw Baiken. -

I am down for Slayer nerfs. I don't really think he needed that 5H bounce anyway. If you can combo from 2D to clean Fafnir like with EX Sol, then Sol might be kind of stupid. It might not be fast enough anymore, though. Or they could have gotten rid of the clean hit. And I'm still not sure about what FB Sidewinder is supposed to be. Does it replace regular Sidewinder? If it's just an FB version of a regular move, how's it different? The FB Greedsever didn't look that impressive to me, but I don't know what can be done with it yet. It's hard to discern much from the one video I've seen. -

The R stands for ridiculous. Ky's old 6H and meterless Fafnir I like a lot. Not sure about the Baiken changes yet. -
Tatami FRC iad j.D is great (assuming you get the fastfall) and honestly not all that difficult once you get the timing. Typically you'll follow it up with 6H 2D jc into some sort of air combo. The air dash after sj.SD is pretty tight, but, yes, the super jump will make it easier (it'll likely still take a fair amount of practice, though).

GGs OldManSilencer. Are you more of an AC player? I noticed you doing stuff that I think works better in AC for Pot. GGs to 2Pac'sHologram as well. Nice Venom and really nice Sol. I'm pretty sure I know who you are; it's been a while. I missed our old matches.

Generally speaking, Sol does pressure so he can get back in and do another mixup. Let's say you're using the 2P->6P/WT mixup, or the 2P->2K 5S/WT mixup, and don't go for the WT. Both 5S and 6P can be late canceled, so generally you'll want to do something like 5H to put them in good block stun or fish for CHs and then do GF FRC to get back in and do another mixup. You can also go for 6H after 6P to build guard gauge, which is good, but astute players can FD you out and the last hit will whiff, which is bad. Ending with 2S is good, too. Be sure to make use of the frame advantage. Also be sure to watch for people jumping. You can sometimes catch people super jumping out with super jumped j.D (this used to be great in #R), but only j.K links after it (unless you hit really late in the active frames). It can still be useful occasionally, but air throw and j.P are probably going to be your best options, depending on who you're fighting. Catching people with a running 5K while they're still getting off the ground is also a good idea. Air block strings are a bit different; j.P gatlings to everything, j.K gatlings to j.S and j.D, and j.S gatlings back into j.K, so between j.P, K, and S you can keep the string going pretty much until you hit the ground. Ending with j.D is generally not a good idea (unless you want to JC it and continue the block string or go for fuzzy guard), though, due to its landing lag, and same goes for SW (unless you're going for a clean SW on block which can be RCed into the stored Clean Hit glitch). BR can catch people jumping, but it's risky so do not get predictable with it. Speaking of which... Being predictable isn't much of a concern IF AND ONLY IF your opponent can't do anything about it. Safe j.S/H oki is a good example of this. Catching someone blocking with 5H/2H and then doing GF FRC predictably is also fine because not only can your opponent not do much about it, but what they can do involves a risk/reward game that is in your favor, and you should exploit it. Going for the afore mentioned mixups when you've got your opponent pinned down is also good, not just because it's good to get in mixup opportunities when you can, but also because knowing that your opponent knows what you're doing can help to predict what your opponent is going to do and counter it. It's like you want to set up rock/paper/scissors situations where both you and your opponent know the game being played, but where all the risks/rewards are skewed heavily in your favor. Once you get into that guessing game, you can't be predictable (obviously), but there are some things you can do predictably and probably should generally do predictably to set up that game (i.e. safe oki after a knockdown or GF FRC to get back in).

I am sure. There can never be enough Baiken. -
More like that, yes, except that the first FRC is completely unnecessary against Johnny. You'll also want to delay the last j.SD more to let Johnny fall farther, just because, as a general rule, the lower to the ground you catch someone with j.D, the more of a guarantee you have that they won't be able to tech. Against Johnny, this is usually not an issue (he falls fast), but against lightweights, it is. EDIT: Keep in mind that if you're close enough to the corner, the second FRC is unnecessary as well. From about the same positioning that you had, I was able to do a slightly modified run in -> 5S 5H xx Tatami j.PPSD ad j.SD = 191 on Johnny, no FRC needed.
-
GGs can, but, man, something has got to be done about that internet of yours. 60ms ping and lag spikes is definitely not optimal. Also, you hate Baiken, and I hate Sol mirrors. =/ Actually, Sol mirrors are easily my least favorite match with Sol.

I tried it a little while back, and, unless something has changed with recent updates, the netcode is honestly not the best. It's not unplayable though, not by any means. Finding someone close by is definitely going to help, though. At least, that was the impression I got. I only played it with two people, so you should probably take what I say with a huge requisite grain of salt.
