Montreal: Le Thread Generale Pour Weeaboo Fighters
Sophisticat replied to BladeOfJustice7's topic in International
Well, as it is it takes me like, half an hour of play just to get used to seeing stuff fly around on screen. Different game visuals/resolution messes me up. I also need match exp., but those are rare since it's only once in an odd while with you guys. Not having online sucks. Also, Ps2 pad is shit. Can't even do quarter circle motions on that thing. I was doing dusts all over the place instead of FBs. I think I'll genuinely use stick if I play GG just so I don't have to deal with Ps2 pad. Yay. :D As Pedro said, I like HOS and Slayer the most while also dabbling in a bit of Johnny, though I seem to be gravitating towards Slayer since he's similar to Hakumen and perhaps closer to my playstyle than HOS after all. I'd really like to get good with HOS, but he's going to need a lot of work to even get out decent combos with. He's said to be the second hardest character in the game to learn, so yeah. It's funny, I seem to almost invariably go for the characters that use hops for movement (Haku, Valk, Slayer, Johnny). Weird how that works out. -
The fuck? Ban him.

Nice meetup last night, guys. I didn't stay for too long but we got in some good games and one nice GG session. I think I really should hunker down and learn it properly, but I don't really know how to. Hype for Mat8!! :D -
Sweet combos, though the vid was a chore to watch because of the resolution. Ugh. Anyway, I don't think the fact he used 5c for the combos is much of an issue. He displayed the main common strings and their potential and that's all we need, I think.

I've never had it happen either. I haven't looked again yet, but I don't think we have many options for this device. :\ -

I just got an e-mail from the adaptor seller saying that the item was seized by HK customs and he'll refund me. I guess you guys won't see me there tomorrow night. D: -

Lol, I'm not doubting it. My brother used to smoke a ton of that stuff and his hobby is making prototype jet engines (though it's been a while since he's made one because he started Uni). Just beware of the long-term health effects. They'll get to you. :P -

^ Yes, it revolves around the idea that you'll generally pick a character because they fit your playing style. For example, let's say you like rushdown. Then Ragna comes to mind. But then let's say you don't like his high-risk style. Then there's a chance you'll gravitate to Bang since he's got safer offensive tools. Stuff like that. I play Haku because I like his character design and my personality is aligned with his. He has plenty of tools to work with and hits hard if you want him to. I don't mind being zoned too much since I'm perfectly comfortable with his effective range. So... I play Haku. :P -

Uh-oh. Stoner and we're talking about dedication in the same sentence? Well, there's always exceptions... Maybe she'd make a good Ara. Mash buttons and suddenly! 10k combo. Aww yeahhh, maaan. :P I prefer the classy type (naturally :P) with a good sense for deadpan humor. I'll be there if the adapters come in on time. -

Bring her to Foonzo, I think it's a better place to show than the HQ for a first timer, frankly. We've got one girl, we can't scare her! :P Get her introduced first and we'll go from there. Gotta be careful with beginners since the amount of work you have to put in fighters can be daunting. Take it easy at first, then we can move on to more difficult stuff. -

That'd be great, thanks! -
I'll give it a few re-reads, I'm sure I'll get it eventually. Well, from what I can infer of the vids I see, the Hotaru is TK-forward like C. Viper instant burn kicks in SFIV. Annoying motion to get down if that's the case. Also, how can you not land after Hotaru? I'm not aware you can IAD after it, just jump. ... I suppose this will have to be ascertained once CS2 hits consoles?

You know what they say. Bros before... Besides, you should still be able to come here and get back to TO on time (if you're coming by car I assume). B-Day parties don't start at noon, yes? Be the man; have it all. I'm only on page 26. 40 posts/page ftw. -

If you feel the character you're using is holding you back, switch characters. I will however disagree that a better player will necessarily always outclass someone not quite as skilled, though using a better character. Better characters can make up for the mistakes you make as a player. I've played quite a few Litchis, but good or bad, they are all a pain to deal with simply because of the nature of the character. And Nini, JF is pretty much on your level as a player, but he's very unlikely to win simply because he uses Rachel. I'm pretty sure he's going to fare a lot better against you once CS2 rolls out. -
We get to witness an excellent Haku in the recent Tachikawa vids: link I'll go through the vids again at some later time, but he displays good combo selection, some new stuff I forget and overall great FG instincts. I'm keeping an eye on this guy.
-
Very nice Hakumen (Chin) in the Tachikawa series. He makes CS2 Haku look much better than he really is.

I input it like zreb does with the exception that I think of each move as distinct from the other. So instead of going "1C5191A", I think "2c -> back to neutral -> sj.2a". I input the 2c normally, then once I'm back at neutral I input sj.2a as fast as possible. Makes it smoother to me than thinking of it all as one piece.

Yeah, I meant [w]5b. I've yet to try to do [h]5b since the link is aggravating to practice. Anyway, thanks for the advice. I'll get around to practicing it.
