Montreal: Le Thread Generale Pour Weeaboo Fighters
Sophisticat replied to BladeOfJustice7's topic in International
Dude, I was dropping stuff all night. I -- I don't want pity. Rusting up is not cool. ;_; Still, I don't know what to think of the matchup. We need to get in 200 more matches to really hammer it out. Once I start IB'ing your strings and getting wise to your pattern and resets, we'll see how things go. But for now, Makoto is a hard character to play against. Her moves all look the same so it's hard to tell what's a low and what's an overhead which makes her especially good at doing resets and all that. I need more exp. here before making any conclusions. A couple things: - Can you cancel her bushy tail drop thingy? - What are the gaps in her strings? - Tell me all about your resets and gimmicks. I'll be looking up her frame data to find anything I can use. Her advantage on block stuff is annoying to say the least. -

Nice turnout tonight. :D Man, am I rusty. I need to get back into BB, but... Priorities. :\ Still, good games and hype moments were had. Let's triple the hype for when LK comes to town. :] -

What? Why have I not heard of this party? Doesn't matter, though. BB with the guys > alcohol. Unless it's Vodka Martinis. They're my Kryptonite. D: -

Just bought 2 converters. Cross your fingers that they come in soon. Total comes down to $50.80. -

Nah, I just went ahead and set up new accounts. Now I just need to find a good deal and we have us two converters. Is Ebay the only answer? I'm pretty sure we should be able to find something like this locally... I'll ask my brother, he's the techie 'round here. EDIT: Blargh, Kijiji doesn't have anything, Best Buy has shit for a search engine, and my bro isn't aware of an electronics store that would have one. I suppose the HK converter is the only choice. I'll go with that if there isn't anything better. There'll be a 2w delay on it, but at least we'll have something workable. -

Yeah, I'll see about doing it. Might have to set up an Ebay/Paypal account again since my previous one probably expired. -

Always check the location of an item before bidding. This one is located in HK. You might want to get something closer, preferably from Canada since parcels originating from outside Canada can have a delay of up to 2 weeks because of customs checks. Another thing to look out for is shipping rates. Ebay rips off sellers by charging high prices for listing items and commissions, so sellers will cover these by upping shipping costs. For example, check this out: same item, ripping you off on shipping. I also did not find any seller in Canada, so you could either look around for a Canadian provider or go for the Chinese knock-off. I'd do the former myself since it would likely be a better deal in both time and cost. If this doesn't happen, I suggest the lowest-priced HK converter. -

My QQ'ing over the loss of CT 6a resounded all the way over to BB general. Haku can use pretty much all his normals that aren't lows as an AA, including Hotaru, but each has a specific use. -

They aren't. What'chu talkin' 'bout? o_O Well, he's got a couple links that can be aggravating, in order of aggravatingness: - j.2a -> AD j.2a - Gurren -> hop 5a/b - [stuff] -> 2c -> sj.C -> fj.C [-> AD j.2a -> etc.] - 5c x2, 5c/2c (which is where the big dmg comes from) The last one in particular can be hard depending on how you combo into it. Everything else is based on timing. Also, optimal damage combos are 2-4 stars at most. More than that and you're wasting meter or going for the kill. Still, getting hop pickups on the first try is pretty good. That took me a couple days of practice. Stay prodigious, Nini. -

Ah, true. Well, I'd still rather we go with a better venue if possible. Imo, Montreal being good hosts should trump the ability to stream/record matches. But that's just me. What do you guys think? -

Once I am rich and famous, I'll plunk down a couple hundred for the pot. But in the meantime I'm ok with 10$ since we're skipping the March edition. Also, awesome that outside people are showing interest. Perhaps we should try to get a better venue than the HQ? It would do much to improve appearances. Foonzo worked for Nemesis. Why not try them again? -

Well, before we get too hype over this, I think we should discuss it with LK first to see what's his take for obvious reasons. I favor a regular tourney with LK participating normally myself. -

Suddenly, a mountain of posts. I have no idea what's being said so I'll just nod my head and say "yes". :P Hydrogen explosion, not nuclear lol. Built up water steam was released to relieve pressure inside the reactor container and it reacted once out in the open air. The container itself is fine and radiation is minimal. -
Eh, I'm of the opinion that Rachel would be fine if only her damage was higher. Her other stuff wouldn't be better, but more damage alone probably would've put her in mid-B tier.

Yay, turns out my car is fine and should be good for another while. :D This also increases my chances for making it out to Sunday's meet if there is one. I'll have to admit it's not high on my list of priorities, so if not enough make it, I'll have to bow out. Also, damn, a tsunami on top of an earthquake. I hope Japan turns out well. I know a guy who lives in S.Cali too, and I hear the Tsunami hit the West Coast pretty bad. He hasn't got back to me yet... I hope he's ok. -
Yay. A-Cho Haku is one of my fave Hakus. :D Wait, that is the regular A-Cho Haku, right? This player seems more offensively oriented than the one I know. Still a good player, though I think he got impatient in the later matches. Also, is it just me or did the Rachel matchup just get worse? D: Whatever the case, I picked up on these two interesting combo strings: 1) Air Throw -> Tsubaki -> AD j.2c -> 2c -> sj.2a -> j.2c -> 2c -> sj.2a -> j.C -> land -> j.2a -> j.C -> land -> j.C 2) j.B CH -> 2b -> 2a -> 2b -> Enma -> etc. First one is ~51:50 in the first vid, and second is early in the match after vs. the Hazama. 1) is not only visually interesting, but it shows how he can combo off air throw near the corner. 2) Could you always do 2b -> 2a -> 2b? Well, now it seems you can, at least on CH, and still go into enma combo after. I think I'll need to get reacquainted with Haku's mechanics, they seem to have changed more than I thought if the above stuff works.
