  1. I suggest a "character medal" to demonstrate that "this dude knows his character". Instead of a medal icon, I suggest the character sprites on the side of the respective sub-forums or the character smilies as a quick visual clue. While someone being mod does grant them more immediate authority, it's not always clear which character they belong to.
  2. VK v. RG
  3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMwaTLZs5YY Interesting use of Wolf movement in this vid. Seems like he can do it twice in a row for some feint/bait work among other things. Hopefully he won't be nerfed so much that he won't display interesting stuff like this in the future.
  4. CS Haku Hitbox Viewer. 2c is @ 1:17. I've no idea which is the "cutting" hitbox.
  5. I am going to agree with Spirit Juice, Supreme Overlord of Dustloop, that Carl and Ara are misrepresented and that Haku v. Rachel is indeed 6-4 and not the aforementioned 7-3. While Rachel does suck, what makes her bad is mitigated by her zoning and other tools, and Haku sucks vs. zoning and runaway characters. Cutting Lobelias does not do that much either since Rachel can use wind to change the trajectory or simply move out. Also, I contend that Haku is too strong on the chart. He's good, but not that good. A couple .5 changes are warranted.
  6. I've been doing 5c ender in corners lately for the oki, and I'd encourage everyone to do so too. It gives plenty of time to set up corner stuff. The 6a seems like it would only work on non-DP/reversal characters, but otherwise seems solid in catching rolls and, as Tachyon says, get advantage on block. If they try to mash out, it's a frame trap, so you get free CH stagger into either damage or free mixup once they tech out. There might be more uses, I'll let Spark elaborate. Zantetsu does work if you set it up properly. In this case, I thought it was pretty clever. He did Zan as the other guy was landing, so he was likely blocking low out of habit and that didn't leave him much time to react. I'll definitely check out the uses of that. That Haku was really good, though. Stealing that stuff.
  7. Okay, so I just logged in and saw the new system. Only problem is, I've no idea how it works. It seems to be tied to your number of posts, which is a terrible way to determine exp. I mean, I'm lv43, but checking Spark's lv, he's 39. Clearly, there's something wrong since he's >>>> above anyone in terms of Haku knowledge.
  8. Haku's bit is the closest you'll get to Omnislash. And Mugen is useless. It's far too situational to be functional, just like [6c]. There are better uses for 8 stars.
  9. lol, yeah, it's challenge mode only. I think they put it in there because it helps reset the situation faster and doesn't affect anything else. Would've been hella broke if Mugen could use RC. Would be the best unreactable mixup in the game, bar none.
  10. VK v. TG AR v. HK
  11. We don't know anything, so it's all speculation at this point.
  12. Since there was some Haku play in the most recent Valk vid, I cut it out, and here it is, featuring Ara: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22CmSg0CavM Didn't really watch, so no comment from me yet.

  14. At first I thought this badge idea was terrible and likely a joke. But thinking more about it, it's really to impart authoritativeness on topics to certain knowledgeable individuals. I'm now 110% behind this idea. Only thing is, we'd probably need "degrees" of merit. I mean, I know Hakumen, but I'm not Spark Tier for example. I can still be technical and give a lot of good info, I just won't know as much as Spark. It would also rectify another theoretical issue: will newcomers end up ignoring any who does NOT have a badge? But whatever the case, I think an icon of sorts showing that you know your stuff is a good idea, but I also hope it salvages Dustloop's current condition and brings in some higher standards of posting. One issue that's always bothered me that I thought contributes to the newbies asking dumb stuff is that information is fairly disorganized and scattered through huge threads. So instead of looking through it, new guys just ask a question that's possibly already been asked 20 times before. I don't see this problem being easily corrected, but it's there. A formal system is perhaps not what some would like to see, but it's kind of necessary when a forum gets bigger and needs to accommodate more people.
  15. Couple new combos: Now, in the corner, the best you can do off a Hotaru with 2 stars is: -> j.2c -> 5c -> 2c -> j.2a -> etc. However, j.2c -> 5c -> 2c can be inconsistent. So I tried omitting the j.2c and ta-da! Easy big damage corner link combo. All you have to do is hit 5c just before the opponent reaches the top of their arc, 5c -> 2c will hit every time. I forget the damage it does, but I think it's about 5k. Not bad at all for 2 stars. Now for quite possibly the best non-hotaru 4 star corner combo: [corner] Renka -> 5c -> renka -> 2c -> j.2a -> j.2c -> etc. For... err... 6k I think, I forget. Very tight combo after second 2c, though. They can easily tech out. If you want to have fun with RC, RC the first hit of renka for equivalent damage and an easier time doing the combo. Not practical, but pretty flashy.
  16. Should be said that you get better corner control with the 1.8 star one. I use the 2 star almost exclusively, so whatever.
  17. ^ Feels 4-6 vs. the really good ones, though. :P I disagree. Valkenhayn is a manly character with class. "VA" does not sound manly, nor does it have class. "VK" is manly and has class. Therefore, we should use VK since it is not only more badass, but fits him better.
  18. Oh yeah, that might be it. I usually practice against Jin, and it is easier than when I used to be doing the challenge. But it's still hard!
  19. ^ Depends on how many stars you got, whether you're in the corner, and whether or not you incorporate 5c -> 5/2c links. You can have a minimum of 3.6k with standard mid-screen bnb or up to 10k+ with 8 stars in the corner. Oh shut up you Mr.160+ IQ, I have to work at this stuff. Well yeah, I can get it a couple times in a row now, but it's still pretty ridiculous in its specificity unless I'm doing it wrong.
  20. Haha, it's not simple at all. It's one of the hardest things to master execution-wise in BB, but it's very do-able if you put in the time. Okay, so there are a couple factors affecting whether 5c x2 will hit: 1) Hotaru height 2) Jump delay after Hotaru 3) j.2C height 4) 5c timing Off hop Hotaru is your best bet for an easy height. Start with a slight delay after you hit to get the opponent's hitbox to be right alongside yours in your jump arc. When you are exactly level to the other's hitbox when in the falling portion of your jump, hit j.2c. If these steps were done correctly, j.2c should come out with the other's hitbox is just above yours while you are at or near the lowest possible point to hit j.2c. If done at the lowest possible point, hit 5c immediately (if not, you have 1 or 2 frames of delay). Depending on the character, 5c should either hit the very tip of the character's clothing, or no visible part was actually touched. Mash 5c again, and it'll come out. The rest is easy as cake. Note: in 5c x2 combos you might have to sj. the followups after 2c since the hitboxes tend to go higher. Order of easiest to hardest 5c x2 combos per standard starter (imo): 1) 5c CH (AA) -> 5c 2) Enma 3) 5c CH 4) J.2c CH 5) 5c CH (AA) -> 5c -> enma -> j.2c -> 5c x2 6) J.D 7) Hotaru FC 8) Hotaru non-FC 2) to 5) are roughly equivalent in difficulty, however, and j.D is really just weird. It's really just off Hotaru that it's a real bitch to get down. Corner-only 5c -> 2c links are slightly easier because 2c is 1f faster than 5c on startup. Go wild.
  21. If you're just starting out, playing the comp. might help to get a feel for the game. Fighting a real player for the first time can be a jarring experience. Spam will just outright beat anything you do. Anyway, thread's going good so far. A bit of spam, but posts are still on-topic so I think it's fine. We're the Hakus; I doubt it'll get unruly any time soon. EDIT: Oooh so that's why. I did keep thinking your sentence structure was a bit weird (It's certainly not bad, just a bit odd at times), is that why? Well damn, that's gotta suck. How do you do for exam where you have to read a book? I can commiserate, though. Trying to to understand what someone says (not just hearing, but understanding) can be very tedious since I have to make a visual representation of everything they say among other things. Reading and writing stuff is just so much more natural it's like night and day. lol, add in that dude with the cane and his friend who looked real sick and I don't know who else and we might as well call ourselves the Cripple Fighters.
  22. New Mugen is still useless unless they buffed the ability to catch and mixup. You need to get in a [6c] or 6d as it is or you're unlikely to land any hit at all.
  23. Well, looks like it won't be going up since it seems only a mod can change the title. @_@ Unless I'm doing it wrong, I thought you could just edit the first post's title and that would change the thread title, but it seems that's not the case. Anyway, Justice Chat is a nice starter to set the tone and it's temporary. Joke titles'll be up in no time. Chill.
  24. "Justice Chat" is a-go for now. Title will change with the mood. Hop is good while working a ground game. TK is when they're on top of you (or you on them). The distance can be enough to make a difference and hop creates pressure on its own, so both have uses.
  25. Since Spark gave the okay, here it is. Only one rule: all discussion is fine "as long as all the chatter stays related to BB". So talking about tourneys and all that is fine, but drunk off-topic "FML" posts are not. This thread should keep the others cleaner and more focused, so all the random Haku stuff can go here. First order of the day: finding a cool thread title because I can't think of one atm. Discuss!
